Australia Booth Menu: Epcot Food & Wine Festival

The Australia Global Marketplace has been a staple of Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival for nearly 20 years, featuring cuisine from the Land Down Under (cue Men at Work). This post details the menu for the Australia booth.

We’ve always found the lamb chop to be one of the definitive foods at Food & Wine Festival (given the price, it’s a great use of a Disney Dining Plan snack credit), and red meats like this are a staple of real Australian diets. One regional specialty that is notably absent from the menu this year is the meat pie, a wonderful guilty pleasure in Australia.

Another omission at the Australia booth is kangaroo. As a result of population control measures, kangaroo meat is becoming a more popular menu item in Australia, particularly in the Outback. This might come as a shock to many Americans given the undeniable cuteness level of kangaroos (it did me…probably part of the reason it’s not served at F&WF!), but think of it as Australia’s venison or bison: a gamy, low-fat option.

Now that Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival has begun, we’ve updated this menu (and every menu) with food photos, thoughts on value for money, best use of Disney Dining Plan snack credits, and more!

Here’s what you will find on the Australia booth’s food menu this year at Food & Wine Festival:

Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies – One of the staples of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, you cannot go wrong with the lamb chop–so long as you’re using Disney Dining Plan snack credits. If you’re paying out of pocket, the high price might scare you away, particularly since portion sizes can vary (quite a bit) when you’re playing the ‘Epcot Lamb Lotto.’

Lamington: Yellow Cake Dipped in Chocolate and Shredded Coconut – This thing was really small, and there was nothing particularly noteworthy about the flavor. It’s also a poor use of a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. I would highly recommend skipping it.

Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Pepper, Onion and Snap Peas – Neither the best shrimp at Food & Wine, nor the worst. It’s not as good as the lamb, but not a bad choice.

We don’t intend upon sampling all of the beverages at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival (particularly because most are not unique to Epcot, so you can find a ton of info and reviews of them via Google), but here is the drink menu for Australia:

• Coopers Brewery Extra Strong Vintage Ale
• Château Tanunda Grand Barossa Dry Riesling
