Canada Booth Menu & Review: EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

Canada is a booth at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival serving favorites from Le Cellier, which is one of Walt Disney World’s most popular table service restaurants. This reviews the Canada Global Marketplace’s menu, shares cuisine photos, and my thoughts on this (what I think is) overrated booth.

The Canada Global Marketplace is typically popular and a favorite among Walt Disney World fans. While some items have come and gone, there are two tried and true staples here that have been on the menu for years: the Canadian Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Soup and Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon. There’s no denying that Canada’s cheddar cheese soup is delicious, but when it’s still in the upper-80s and humid, that’s about the last thing I want. (November, on the other hand, is a totally different story.)

Then there’s the Le Cellier filet mignon, which is popular because it’s filet mignon and is an objectively great use of a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. This dish can be a bit hit or miss, but when we’re using the DDP, we always use a snack credit on that steak. Well worth rolling the dice.

For me, the sad part is that there are no shortage of excellent snack-sized options that could be offered here. In fact, the Canada booth at just about every other Epcot festival has a more expansive and ambitious menu, with several dishes we’ve loved. The Yukon Holiday Kitchen for the Christmas-time event is a perennial favorite.

Or, Walt Disney World could take the Canada booth a totally different direction. It would be the perfect opportunity to test the waters with different styles of poutine, a maple syrup and bacon cupcake, or even the return of BeaverTails.

I know, I know, I’m in the minority–but I’m ready for this overrated booth to receive a menu overhaul. For most guests, the Canada booth is one of the highlights of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. It’s a popular choice for first-timers and repeat guests alike. This menu features food photos, thoughts on value for money, and more!

Here’s what you will find on the Canada marketplace booth’s food menu this year at Food & Wine Festival:

  • Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll (Emile’s Fromage Montage item)
  • Canadian Filet Mignon with Truffle Boursin Mashed Potatoes, Mushrooms and Boursin Truffle Butter

Canada Beverages:

  • Collective Arts Brewing Audio/Visual Lager, Hamilton, Ontario
  • Château des Charmes Cabernet Sauvignon, Ontario

Now our photos and reviews of each item from this Global Marketplace at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival…

Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll ($5.75)While Canada only has two items, it’s one of the most popular booths at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, and that’s because both have cult-like followings among Walt Disney World fans.

I think most fans know whether this soup is their thing or not. If you want my take…the soup is very good, but a bit overrated. It’s rich, creamy and full of cheesy goodness, but not quite deserving of all the hype. Others with us noted that the portion size is smaller this year. Still highly recommended…unless you go on a 90-degree day, in which case why would you want soup?!

Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle-Butter Sauce ($8.75)The only thing consistent about this dish is its inconsistency. We’ve ordered it a number of times over the years, and it has been all over the place. Sometimes a generous portion that’s perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. When this dish is tender, a good size, and oozing with flavor, it’s tough to beat.

On the other hand, we’ve had small portions that are over-cooked, tough, and generally flavorless–or way too salty. When that happens, it feels like we’ve been duped, wasting over $8 on this. It was easier to recommend when you could use a Disney Dining Plan credit on this dish. It’s tough to recommend gambling on the “Le Cellier Lotto” now that everyone is paying out of pocket.

Overall, the Canada Global Marketplace is popular thanks to serving a couple of Walt Disney World fan-favorite items, one of which was an absolutely exceptional value on the Disney Dining Plan. Without the DDP and everyone paying out of pocket, it’s tougher to recommend.

Plus, the booth has frankly become a bit boring and stale. This menu hasn’t changed in the better part of 5 years, and has been surpassed by the very same booth at Epcot’s other festivals. Familiar, fan favorites can be great…but the Canada Global Marketplace could be offering so much more. On the other hand, there are plenty of other booths that we love, so if Canada “playing the hits” makes it popular with other returning guests, that’s fine!

Your Thoughts

If you’ve tried any of Canada’s items, what did you think? Favorites? Least favorites? What was and wasn’t worth it? Anything on the Canada booth menu you’re excited to try this year? Should we riot if Disney doesn’t bring back the BeaverTail next year? 😉 Hearing from you is half the fun, so please share your thoughts in the comments below!
