France Booth Menu: Epcot Food & Wine Festival
The France Global Marketplace booth at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is yet another celebrating its 20th anniversary. This post details the menu of France’s marketplace booth, along with my thoughts on it.
France is probably one of the world’s most high-profile food countries, with Paris being a culinary capital and Lyon a foodie mecca. Viewed as the “Pope” of modern French gastronomy, the leader of France’s foodie movement–Paul Bocuse–also has strong ties to the France pavilion as one of the founders of Chefs des Frances and the namesake of Monsieur Paul. Suffice to say, food has long been important to France, something that is mirrored in the France pavilion at Epcot.
This reputation precedes France, and draws guests for some of the longest lines of any booth in World Showcase. While Food & Wine Festival booths obviously can’t offer haute cuisine, it has long offered quality, classic choices. Although it would be nice to see a menu refresh with new and emerging (or just different) trends in France, sticking to largely the same menu has a certain entrenched, French attitude about it.
Now that the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival has officially kicked off, we have updated this menu (and every menu) with food photos, thoughts on value for money, best use of Disney Dining Plan snack credits, and more!
Here’s what you will find on the food menu this year at the France global marketplace booth:
Croissant aux Escargots: Escargot Croissant with Garlic and Parsley – While this differed significantly from the individual escargot “capsules” that I’ve enjoyed in the past at Food & Wine Festival, I really like it. The sweetness of the croissant provided a mild contrast to the garlic, while neither overpowered the escargot. Recommended.
Soupe Á l’oignon au Gruyère et Cognac: Gruyère and Cognac Onion Soup – People seem to love this, but I was not even remotely a fan. It tasted incredibly watered down, but with an inexplicably strong alcohol undertone. The cheese was good, but that’s about it.
Boeuf Bourguignon: Cabernet Sauvignon-braised Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes – All around, this was just okay. An okay portion size, okay beef, and okay potatoes. I wouldn’t recommend it, nor would I recommend avoiding it. Okay?
Crème Brûlée Caramel Chocolat – This is a very similar to the creme brulee served in Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles, except chocolate instead of vanilla. It’s a good option.
You can never go wrong with the escargot here. The croissant gives them just enough substantive heft, and the garlic livens up the dish a bit. Plus, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, the value as a snack credit is solid–ditto that on the short ribs.
We don’t intend upon sampling all of the beverages at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival, but here is the drink menu for France:
- Kronenbourg Blanc 1664 Pale Lager
- Chardonnay, Bourgogne Blanc, Mommessin, La Clé Saint-Pierre
- Merlot & Cabernet Blend, Bordeaux, Château les Graves de Barrau
- St-Germain Sparkling Kir: Sparkling Wine and St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
- Frozen Daiquiri Ice Pop: Strawberry Puree with French Caribbean Rhum Clément
- La Passion Martini Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Cranberry and Passion Fruit Juice
With beer, wine, and mixed drinks, France is also one of the more popular countries for alcohol, as well.

Your Thoughts
If you’ve tried any of the marketplace items in France, what did you think? Favorites? Least favorites? What was and wasn’t worth it? Anything on the menu you’re excited to try this year? Do you wish Disney had a rat serving food here? Hearing from you is half the fun, so please share your thoughts in the comments below!
I am trying to find out the sauce on the escargot. It was great, I would like to try it at home. thanks
The frozen ice pop is tasty but messy and melts like crazy in the Orlando heat. Since it is alcohol you hate to waste it as it melts away.
