Journey into Imagination Lit Up at Night

There’s been a slowdown in content ’round these parts lately, but trust me, this is really a good thing in the grand scheme of things. Rather than writing new posts that will be posted immediately, I’ve been focusing my limited free time on the EPCOT Center retrospective series (yes, it’s a series now!). I’ve received a far greater response to the EPCOT Center photo search than I ever anticipated, and I really want to thank you all so, so much for that. This response has meant that other things have had to move to the back-burner while I prepare for these posts, but it has been nice change of pace, so I’m not complaining! So if you have photos that you’ve yet to send, please send them!

I hope to get some more trip report installments finished and posted next week, but in lieu of that, I’ll at least have some more photos to share with you all.

As for this photo…what can I say about Journey into Imagination that hasn’t already been said? Journey into Imagination really speaks for the “don’t judge a book by its cover” idiom, but normally that saying has a generally positive connotation (i.e. just because the cover looks poor doesn’t mean the content is). Obviously the saying can cut both ways, but in usage, it rarely does. Except in Journey into Imagination’s case, where the exterior is the pavilion’s saving grace. Although I’m not a fan of either attraction presently in the pavilion, the architecture at Journey into Imagination remains stunning, and the new(ish) lighting in the pyramids at night is gorgeous.

I had another version of this photo with a monorail in the frame, but it blocked out too much of the pyramids and really became the emphasis of the shot. While I hate to leave a bare monorail beam in any of my photos, I think it’s the right decision here.

Technical details: shot with a Nikon D7000 with a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Lens. See our guide for more photography equipment recommendations.
