Main Street Electrical Parade – Blur of Light
My favorite place to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade or SpectroMagic is Liberty Square right at the edge of the bridge pictured in this photo. It offers a few advantages: you get Cinderella Castle in the background, you get a lot of opportunities to photograph the characters and floats as they come straight at you, the floats seem to move a little slower over the bridge, and it’s often not as crowded as Main Street, but still offers all of the Main Street ambiance (Main Street is typically the best location to view ANY Magic Kingdom parade).
For this shot, I moved back a bit from my favorite spot so that I could get the bridge in the frame as well as the reflections of the floats in the water. I also decided to shoot long exposures of the parade, something I first tried with SpectroMagic back in 2009, but hadn’t done at Walt Disney World since 2010. Long exposure photos of the parade can be challenging since I guess on the exposure times in my head, but it’s a lot of fun, and I think the resulting images are quite captivating!

Looks like the parade just jumped to warp speed.
And doggone you, Bricker, for having the same idea I’ve had but getting a chance to try it first! 😉
I’ve been doing these long exposure parade photos for a few years. It wasn’t until this trip that I had the spur-of-the-moment idea to get one with Cinderella Castle and the Liberty Square bridge in the frame!
I have another idea for one, but I won’t be able to do it for a few months…
