Disneyland has announced dates, details, and prices for Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, which will be held starting in early September and running through October 31, 2022. This post shares details of the announcement, what’s missing, and what else to expect.

While Disneyland hasn’t released full details, we now have a pretty good picture of what this year’s Halloween season will entail (see our full 2022 Guide to Halloween at Disneyland Resort for everything beyond Oogie Boogie Bash), with spook season kicking off on the first Friday of September last year, just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

As is typical, the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash won’t get going until a little going until a little after the rest of the Halloween Time festivities and fun. The good news–if you like the event, bad news if you don’t–is that Oogie Boogie Bash starts earlier than ever and with more nights than normal…

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will kick off on September 6, 2022 and run through October 31, 2022. The limited-capacity, separately ticketed event will be held on 23 nights in 2022, adding family-friendly fun for guests of all ages the opportunity during Halloween Time.

Tickets will go on sale for the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash beginning on June 28, 2022 (no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific). On this date, a limited amount of Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on pre-sale for Magic Key holders.

On that same date, Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club may begin to purchase tickets to their own exclusive one-night special event, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2022). That coincides with the D23 Expo, which will be held in Anaheim September 9-11, 2022.

D23 Members will need to sign in with their linked Disney account in order to purchase tickets to the D23 Member-exclusive night taking place on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Those who recently bought a D23 Membership, may need to sign out and sign back in to their Disney account for that to be reflected.

While it’s possible the Oogie Boogie Bash reserved exclusively for D23 Members will have special additions, we would not count on much–maybe a couple special photo ops or rare characters. The most likely reason that it’s so much more expensive is exactly the same reason why the two parties closest to Halloween cost more–demand. Tons of D23 Members and non-local fans will be in Anaheim that weekend, so Disney can charge more for that night.

Tickets to all other nights of the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, excluding the D23 special event, go on sale to the general public beginning June 30, 2022 (no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific).

Despite lengthy virtual queues and hold times on the phones, tickets have never sold out for any date on the first day they’re on sale to the general public. With that said, most dates have sold out long before the first party night. Plan and purchase tickets accordingly.

The number of tickets available for each 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party event date are limited, and event tickets are valid only for the specific event date and hours.

Parking fees are not included in the ticket price. No discounts will be offered to this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash.

Tickets must be purchased online and are not available on the day of the event. There’s a limit 8 tickets per person, per event date. Tickets are not required for Guests ages 2 and under.

Tickets are nonrefundable and may not be resold or transferred for commercial purpose.

Costumes are subject to Disney guidelines and should not be obstructive or offensive–view the special event costume guidelines for restrictions.

Halloween Party attendees will receive a souvenir credential and event guide, and unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass digital photos taken during the party. (Credentials and guides are limited to one per ticketed person.)

In addition to dates and ticket prices, Disneyland has also announced additional details about the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party.

First, it’ll once again include early admission to Disney California Adventure beginning at 3:00 PM—no theme park reservation required.

The 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will also feature Immersive Treat Trails. Throughout these, you’ll be able to collect goodies—M&Ms, SKITTLES, SNICKERS and other Halloween favorites—along trails offering Halloween-inspired music, fun decor and the Villains themselves, as they oversee the festivities from their thrones.

In addition to these walk-through encounters highlighted by villains, there will be other character meet & greets with popular and rare characters, some of whom will be dressed in their own Halloween costumes.

The headline entertainment for the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is the Frightfully Fun Parade. This spirited masquerade cavalcade features Mickey and Minnie Mouse, plus popular Disney villains.

There’s also Mickey’s Trick & Treat–watch Mickey and friends as they headline a live show filled with not-so-scary Halloween tales. In addition to that, the popular Villains Grove will return–explore Redwood Creek Challenge Trail like never before as the worlds of Disney Villains unfold via ethereal scenes replete with hauntingly beautiful color, sound, light and shadow.

Unfortunately, still nothing about World of Color – Villainous, which wasn’t presented last year due to the World of Color refurbishment. It should be back this year, but Disney omitting it from the announcement is concerning.

It would be odd to retire that after only one year, even with it garnering very mixed reviews. If guest satisfaction for that nighttime spectacular were low, it would probably still make sense to run the normal World of Color. It’s a value-add that entices guests to buy event tickets and it helps absorb crowds…which enables Disney to raise the attendance cap (thereby selling even more tickets) while maintaining low crowds. Seems like a no-brainer to show some version of World of Color, so perhaps that announcement is simply coming later.

Ultimately, we’re looking forward to the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash. We really enjoyed the first two years of this Halloween Party, and were really hoping that Disneyland would build on that success and scale it up for this year, as it still falls short as compared to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in every regard except characters (which are very, very good at Oogie Boogie Bash).

In particular, fleshing out the parade and adding one more piece of cornerstone entertainment–ideally, a Halloween edition of World of Color–would really help elevate the event. Of course, demographics differ between the California and Florida parks, so perhaps this is exactly what most Disneyland locals want from the event. There’s also the reality that Disneyland does more for Halloween as a whole, and most of that is included in regular admission.
