2022 Southern California Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal

Disneyland is offering a new multi-day ticket deal for Southern California residents in 2022. This post shares info & details about the limited-time offer for the new year, plus commentary about the intersection of this promo and returning entertainment, and historical comparisons. (Updated May 31, 2022.)

For a limited time, Southern California residents can visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks for as low as $67 per day with the purchase of a special 3-day, 1-park per day weekday ticket. Visit 3 times on weekdays from January 3, 2022 through May 26, 2022–subject to theme park reservation availability.

Here’s pricing for Disneyland’s 2022 SoCal Resident Ticket Deal:

  • 3-Day, 1-Park Per Day Ticket — $199
  • 3 Day, 1-Park Per Day Ticket with Disney Genie+ Service — $259
  • 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket — $259
  • 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket with Disney Genie+ Service — $319

UPDATE: Although this Disneyland ticket deal ended over the weekend, Disney has announced a NEW Summer & Fall 2022 Disneyland Ticket Deal for Californians. The new special offer can be purchased directly from Disneyland, or you can SAVE MORE MONEY by purchasing the deal via Get Away Today.

Proof of eligible residency, including valid government-issued photo ID, is required for purchase and admission. Eligible residents may purchase up to 5 tickets per day with valid ID.

Tickets are nonrefundable, may not be sold or transferred for commercial use and exclude activities/events separately priced. Offer may not be combined with other ticket discounts or promotions. Tickets may not be upgraded to longer durations. This promotion is subject to restrictions, change and cancellation without notice. Sales may be paused from time to time or terminated at any time.

This deal differs from last summer’s Golden State ticket offer that was available for all California residents–covering ZIP codes 90000-96199 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999.

In this regard, the 2022 Disneyland resident ticket deal is a return to normal. Since I’ve been tracking these for the last decade or so, that was the first time the discount was offered beyond Southern California.

The other big difference here is that the 2022 Southern California Resident Disneyland ticket discount is only valid on weekdays. I don’t have a comprehensive list of blockout dates for past specials, but to my knowledge, this is a first.

Normally, when blockouts apply, they’re limited to spring break for Los Angeles and Orange County school districts, the week of Easter, and other peak season dates. To my recollection, there hasn’t been an across-the-board limitation or weekend blockout.

Excluding weekends makes a lot of sense once you look at the Magic Key availability calendars. Weekend reservations are already fully booked on many dates in February 2022.

Those will likely be refilled a few times between now and then, but it would still be a “bad look” if Disneyland were having trouble fulfilling its end of the bargain with Magic Key passholders while offering discounted tickets to other locals. I certainly would not be pleased.

Truth be told, I’m not totally pleased by this. While an off-season attendance downturn at Disneyland wouldn’t surprise me in the least, the release of this discount still feels premature.

I don’t exactly have full faith in Disney’s attendance forecasters given gestures at their performance since reopening. Accordingly, it would have been prudent to wait until early January 2022 before releasing this discount…like normal.

I also still remember a few years ago when Disney got ahead of itself with aggressive promotions released in tandem with the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade, resulting in bonkers attendance during the off-season. While such a scenario is unlikely to repeat itself due to reservations, it’d also be nice if there weren’t such a scarcity in those.

I’m not advocating for an elimination of the reservation system or a return to the resort’s more laid back days–just for letting things normalize for a bit before throwing another monkey wrench into the mix. There’s gotta be a happy medium between the post-work pop-in and planning a weekday visit 3 months in advance.

By historical standards, these discounts are surprisingly good…so long as you can visit on a weekday. Here are Southern California resident ticket prices from the last 6 years…

2021 California Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 3-day, 1-park ticket for $249
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $304

2020 SoCal Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 3-day, 1-park per day ticket for $201
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $254

2019 SoCal Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 3-day, 1-park per day ticket for $179
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $234

2018 SoCal Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 2-day ticket with choice of one park per day for $159
  • 2-day Park Hopper ticket for $204
  • 3-day ticket with choice of one park per day for $199
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $244

2017 SoCal Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 3-day ticket with choice of one park per day for $149
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $189

(These prices are accurate–that year was bonkers due to the bonus day plus the return of Main Street Electrical Parade.)

2016 SoCal Resident Disneyland Ticket Deal Prices:

  • 2-day ticket with choice of one park per day for $149
  • 2-day Park Hopper ticket for $189
  • 3-day ticket with choice of one park per day for $179
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $219.

Note that Southern California Resident tickets from previous years also included one Magic Morning early entry to Disneyland, which provided an extra hour on select days before the park opens to the general public. Obviously, that’s not the case with this deal as Magic Mornings are temporarily suspended.

Ultimately, it’ll be interesting to see how popular these tickets end up being with locals. Blocking out weekends is a good move, and not doing so would’ve angered many Magic Key passholders. There are otherwise no restrictions for Presidents Day and MLK Day long weekends, spring break or Easter, which is interesting. (Not that we would’ve recommended visiting those weekends/weeks before, but now we’ll strongly advise avoiding them.)

It’ll also be interesting to see how the return of entertainment coincides with this Southern California Resident Ticket Deal. Disneyland previously announced that Fantasmic, World of Color, Main Street Electrical Parade, and Disneyland Forever Fireworks would all return in Spring 2022. That probably means March or April for the most part, so it’s possible there could still be a winter slowdown, even with this deal and “sold out” Magic Key reservations–a lot depends upon hiring and Disney’s ability to scale up capacity. We’ll be watching to see how it plays out.
