Deep Discounts on Disney World 50th Anniversary Items at Amazon

If you were underwhelmed by the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary merchandise, inventory was limited during your trip, or you opted against visiting during the celebration, we have good news: there are 50th souvenirs for sale online. Even better news: they’re actually awesome! Finally, the odd part: they’re Amazon exclusives. The odd thing here is that these are Amazon exclusives that are not being sold on shopDisney.com or in the parks at Walt Disney World.

May 2, 2023 Update: Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary ended about a month ago, but a lot of unsold merchandise remains. In the parks and at Disney Springs, there are discounts of up to 50% off on the limited amount of World’s Most Magical Celebration souvenirs that remain on shelves. Same goes for shopDisney.com. If you head over to the Disney Character Warehouse Outlet (which we highly recommend), you can do even better–with savings of up to 80% off. (At the outlet, the uglier the item, the better the deal!)

Along similar lines, the Amazon-exclusive items for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary are now also on sale, and most of these are 45% off to 60% off. It appears that the (digital) storefront for WDW50 has closed, with Amazon now advertising its 100 Years of Wonder Collection for Disney100. In any case, some solid deals for those who didn’t pick up these items when they were released last year…

When it comes to these Amazon-exclusive Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary products, we receive a small commission from your purchases, so buying through these links helps support the site. However, neither the price you pay nor our recommendations are impacted by that. To the contrary, we’ll tell you exactly which of the following items we will definitely not be purchasing.

Let’s start with the crowd-pleaser that every patriotic American (or non-American) should buy…

Disney WDW 50th Country Bear Jamboree Plush SetThis Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration Country Bear Jamboree Plush collection includes limited-release Teddi Barra, Big Al, and Henry premium plush toys.

Made with a velvety-soft plush, each bear is dressed in their signature look: Teddi Barra wears her blue hat and pink boa; Big Al has his guitar; and Henry comes complete with sidekick Sammy the raccoon in his hat. Each Country Bear character stands approximately 10 inches tall and has embroidered features and excellent detailing. I also want to note that the manufacturer minimum age is listed as 36.0. That actually sounds about right for the target audience.

I’ve mentioned this before, but we collected all of the Country Bear Jamboree plush badges from Tokyo Disney Resort, which are a lot like these Amazon exclusives. Back when we spent a couple months at Christmas in Japan, we actually bought a cheap Christmas tree and decorated it with Jingle Bell Jamboree Country Bear badges we had acquired on that visit.

The tradition grew from there, literally. We acquired more plush badges and put them on a full-sized Christmas tree while living in Florida. (All of our normal Christmas decorations were in shortage in California, making this a nice fix!) Suffice to say, we’ve acquired a lot of plush this size–including 3 seasonal sets of the Country Bears–but 4 sounds like a nice, round number to me!

Disney WDW 50th Big Thunder Mountain Collector Set – Another Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary character plush set, this time featuring Mickey Mouse and friends themed to Big Thunder.

I’m not exactly sure what’s up here. Is the fur pattern supposed to be layers of sediment or strata? That’s my guess. Not something I feel compelled to add to my collection, but it’s a neat idea and hopefully it’s something that appeals to Big Thunder fans.

Disney WDW 50th Mad Tea Party Plush Collector Set – The final Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary plush character set (so far), with this one featuring more characters and Mad Tea Party.

The idea and execution are better than the Big Thunder set (IMO), but Mad Tea Party is one of my least favorite rides. Again, I’m all for unique merchandise, even when it doesn’t appeal to me. Hopefully Mad Tea Party enthusiasts love the look of this set!

Funko PeopleMover – I absolutely love the PeopleMover and most merchandise featuring the TTA is a must-buy for me…but I guess I don’t love it enough to overcome my aversion to the Children of the Corn style Funko figures.

To each their own, I guess. Maybe this will be the perfect product to haunt your home office.

A Portrait of Walt Disney World: 50 Years of The Most Magical Place on Earth – Last year’s #1 book by far and one of our all-time favorite Walt Disney World titles was impossible to find at Christmas. It’s available once again, and at a ~25% off discount.

This is Walt Disney World’s “Nickel Tour,” which is the highest praise possible. It’s going to be the souvenir that creates new lifelong fans among Walt Disney World first-timers, and the spark that sets young kids on a lifelong career path. For more effusive praise and why you should buy it, read our book review. (Or just buy the book and read that instead.)

Delicious Disney: Walt Disney World – This is the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary cookbook, with recipes for iconic dishes like the Grey Stuff, Tonga Toast, Captain Jack’s Clam Dip, Kungaloosh, Ronto Wrap, Orange Bird Flip, Hoop-Dee-Doo Fried Chicken, Hollywood Brown Derby Grapefruit Cake, and Le Cellier Steakhouse Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. However, it’s also so much more. You’ll also find rare restaurant concept art (like that for Columbia Harbour House, Downtown Disney, and the Disney Inn), history (my favorite is “Walt Loved Fried Chicken”), and old menu scans.

Whether you want to learn about the history of the Handwich or development of Kitchen Kabaret, this has you covered. For any fan of food at Walt Disney World–even those like me who don’t cook–this is an interesting and enjoyable read. This one is 37% off on Amazon.

Art of Coloring: Walt Disney World: 100 Images to Inspire Creativity from The Most Magical Place on Earth – Adult coloring books are not my jam, but if they were, I’d buy this. This carefully curated collection of illustrations features memorable characters, favorite icons, and visual surprises at each page turn. It’s not just what you’d expect–there’s a lot of concept art, posters, and maps in a coloring book that skews very vintage.

Poster Art of the Disney Parks, Second Edition – This new title is an expanded and updated edition of the beloved book that ranks highly in our library. The second edition renders the first obsolete, as the 85+ new posters and behind-the-scenes development info nearly doubles the book in length. While the first edition is fantastic and can be purchased even cheaper now, we highly recommend springing for the new edition.

It’s worth it for all of the awesome new posters made for EPCOT’s reimagining alone. These were displayed in the Odyssey/EPCOT Experience, and are absolutely stunning. (If, like us, you were unable to score the limited releases on shopDisney, this is a good consolation prize.) In the decade since the original’s release, Shanghai Disneyland has opened and various expansions pretty much everywhere have resulted in a treasure trove of new poster art. Highly recommended!

Disney Treasures From the Vault, Limited Edition Mickey Mouse Revue Plush – Another item (supposedly) in the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary collection is this Mickey Mouse Revue plush that was released last December as part of the “Treasures from the Disney Vault” collection.

This Limited Edition Mickey Mouse Revue Plush includes a Certificate of Authenticity and looks incredibly high quality. If I were going to spend more money on plush that I don’t need, I’d definitely buy this over the Big Thunder or Mad Tea Party ones. This whole set is really cool. (1930s Mickey & Minnie are over half-off and the Toy Soldiers are awesome!)

Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary The Most Magical Place T-Shirt – So many of the shirts sold at Walt Disney World suffer from overdesign, with one or two too many graphics added that make the end result busy or chaotic.

This simple shirt–sold in a variety of colors and cuts for men, women, and kids–is the perfect antidote to that. Just a classic, classy design!

4 Parks Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Shirt – Same idea here with the different cuts and colors in this 4 parks shirt.

I like the graphic style here, which reminds me a bit of the Starbucks mugs. It’s not a shirt that I’d personally buy, but I think the busier design works here. There’s a flow to it, and nothing seems thrown on for the sake of “bonus visuals” or anything like that.

Disney WDW 50th Carousel of Progress Rover the Dog PlushThis Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration Carousel of Progress edition is a premium plush toy of Rover the Dog. The family dog plush measures 10.75 x 7.75 x 16 inches, and is made by Just Play.

Carousel of Progress merchandise isn’t exactly common, so this is pretty cool to see. However, I’ve gotta admit that at first glance, I thought it was the dog from Pirates of the Caribbean, and the gear was the keys. Still really neat that an iconic, unsung attraction is receiving attention, and on Amazon of all places. Didn’t have that on my 50th Anniversary bingo card!

There are actually a ton of other exclusive pieces of Disney merchandise buried on Amazon.com, including an expansive line for Walt’s plane and another for his travels (the Walt’s Plane Poster Series puzzles pictured above are one such example).

I don’t want to get carried away with merchandise posts, but if there’s interest in a roundup of items like that or holidays products (we’ve been doing Halloween and Christmas shopping ourselves lately), just let me know in the comments.

If you’re looking for other book recommendations for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or beyond, check out Our Disney Theme Parks Library post. Many of the newer releases from the last few years will almost certainly be on sale during Cyber Monday in late November 2022. Several of those books are now out-of-print, but are available used. Some older titles you can get for pennies, while others cost hundreds of dollars. Like any collectibles, prices are really all over the place for old Disney books!
