Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch & Dinner Review
Be Our Guest Restaurant at Magic Kingdom serves a 3-course prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner, and is themed to iconic rooms in Beast’s Castle from Beauty and the Beast. This Walt Disney World dining review features food photos, a look the inside, discounts, and everything you need to know. (Updated October 9, 2022.)
Whether you’re new to Be Our Guest Restaurant or have dined here before, there are a few things you should know before we get started. First, the set menu with an appetizer, entree, and dessert is the only meal being served at Be Our Guest Restaurant right now. It has been this way since Magic Kingdom reopened, and remains the case one year later.
Our expectation is that this “all day” menu is still the only option through at least early 2023. If you’re planning a trip before then, this is the only review you need. If after, you might consider also reading our Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant Review and Breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant Review. Those also offer basic info about the themed design of dining inside Beast’s Castle that is not covered here.
Additionally, the Disney Dining Plan remains unavailable. As such, any discussion in this review of Be Our Guest Restaurant being a two-credit table service restaurant is irrelevant. Walt Disney World has indicated that the Disney Dining Plan is only temporarily unavailable, and will return in the future. See When Will the Disney Dining Plan Return? for our thoughts and predictions on when that’ll be back!
In any case, here are our thoughts about the all-day Be Our Guest Restaurant prix fixe menu. Again, if you’re visiting between now and early 2023 and are debating Advance Dining Reservations here, it’s likely that this will be your only option.
In terms of basics, Be Our Guest Restaurant offers three themed dining rooms, each Imagineered to immerse guests in the mystery and romance of the Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast.
The main area is the Grand Ballroom. This sprawling dining hall features a domed ceiling, chandeliers, Gothic arches, and snow falling outside. It’s lovely and resplendent, but its cavernous size also means it can be loud and feel vaguely like a (very fancy) mess hall. As such, this is our least favorite dining room at Be Our Guest.
Next, there’s the Castle Gallery. This romantic library features a stunning rose chandelier, which sits just above a lovely seven-foot-tall music box of Belle and Beast that swirls about and plays actual music box music. We like this room; it’s elegant but intimate, and has a romantic atmosphere.
Finally, there’s the West Wing. This is the Beast’s mysterious and infamous West Wing study. It features his enchanted rose as well as some destruction and a moody vibe. This is our favorite room at Be Our Guest Restaurant, and we try to dine here whenever possible. It’s ominous and foreboding, which is a pitch-perfect reflection of those scenes from the film. One thing to keep in mind is that this room can be frightening for small children.
Be Our Guest Restaurant offers a 10% discount for Annual Passholders. If paying out of pocket and doing three courses, you are likely to break even or come out ahead with the prix fixe menu as compared to the old dinner menu.
In fact, both Sarah and I came out ahead with what we ordered–and I’d hazard a guess that the dishes we chose will be among the most popular going forward. Those on the Disney Dining Plan would be decidedly worse off, but that’s irrelevant for now with that suspended.
Anyway, as we said when this change was announced, we’re surprised it didn’t happen earlier. We fully expected Be Our Guest Restaurant to be Signature from day one. It has been so hard to get a table at dinner here for the last 5 years, even on the day Advance Dining Reservations open.
It’s still difficult now, but we suspect that’s at least in part because many guests are booking based upon outdated information. Within the next year, we’d expect it to settle into the same territory as Cinderella’s Royal Table: tough, but not downright impossible. That in-castle eatery often is fully-booked inside 30 days, but seldom fills up months in advance like Be Our Guest Restaurant.
Throughout lunch and dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant, Beast roams his castle and will pose for photos and selfies.
However, Beast does not currently have a dedicated meet & greet location (as before) and does not pose with guests, sign autographs, etc. Basically, you can’t get within 6 feet of him.
Every dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant starts with bread service.
It’s very bread-like.
Sarah started with the “Maine Lobster Bisque: Crème Fraîche and Poached Lobster.”
We had wavered between this and the escargot for our second appetizer (while great, the French Onion Soup is an inexpensive lunch option), and I think we made the wrong choice…and that’s only in part because soup is the most boring subject for food photography.
The soup tasted good, with a rich and creamy flavor. Even though the portion looks small in the photo, it was ample, especially considering the decadent flavors. Having “lobster” in the menu’s item name twice is probably accurate, as that’s how many chunks of lobster were in the dish. I’d expect sparse lobster meat at a normal Walt Disney World table service restaurant; here, it’s a disappointment considering this is now a Signature restaurant.
For my appetizer, I started with the “Charred Octopus: Citrus-laced Fingerling Potatoes, Pickled Hearts of Palm, and Red Pepper Coulis served Cold.”
Presentation here was good, and red pepper coulis provided a spicy complement to the octopus. The flavors all worked well, but my octopus was too tough. I’m not sure if this was simply bad luck, because it otherwise worked. Unfortunately, as served this couldn’t hold a candle to the superlative octopus at Tiffins, or even the more tender offering at Coral Reef.
For her entree, Sarah ordered the “Spice-dusted Lamb Chops: Roasted Salsify, Baby Zucchini, Charred Tomatoes, and Royal Trumpet Mushrooms with a Lamb Demi.”
If you look back at our previous Be Our Guest Restaurant Dinner Review, you’ll notice this dish is nearly identical to the lamb we ordered for that meal. About that lamb, I wrote: “the accompaniments and presentation made it befitting of a fine dining meal, although the size was a bit on the small size.”
Perhaps all that speculation above about Walt Disney World analysts realizing they could increase per guest revenue at Be Our Guest, or wanting to close the ‘cupcake’ loophole was incorrect, and this really went Signature because Bob Iger is a regular reader of this blog and saw that I thought this dish was already fine dining caliber, and made it so. Yeah, that seems totally plausible and not at all conceited.
Anyway, exact same story with the new Lamb Chops. Very good dish with a portion that’s slightly too small. The spice-dusting provides a bit of flare, but also made some bites slightly over-seasoned. (There’s no kick, for those worried about that–it’s a crowd-pleaser.)
For me entree, I ordered the “Center-cut Filet Mignon: Robuchon Yukon Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Cipollini Marmalade with a Red Wine Glaze.”
I’ll admit, my expectations were low. I was expecting either a glorified strip steak or perhaps a center-cut that was really, really small. Instead, I received a generous portion of one of the best cuts of meat I’ve had at Walt Disney World in years.
Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy–I could go on and on. I was shocked and am still wondering if maybe this fell off the truck on the way to Capa at Four Seasons Orlando. Or perhaps regular reader of the blog Bob Iger handpicked this cut for me, knowing we’d be dining at Be Our Guest this evening. (If that were the case, you’d think we wouldn’t have been seated in the far corner of the Ballroom, but I digress.)
The red wine glaze underneath added a subtle twist to the steak, but I actively tried to avoid using it because the meat held up on its own. Everything about this was exquisite, and I’m still a bit flabbergasted. Despite my effusive praise, in the back of my mind I know that I had to have gotten a little lucky here. Even if yours is only 75% this good, it’s the must-order dish on the new prix fixe menu.
The meal ends with the same dessert trio for everyone, which includes “Almond Macaron, White Chocolate “Chip” Cup with Grey Stuff, and Dark Chocolate Truffle.”
If I were feeling curmudgeonly, I might complain that a Signature Restaurant doesn’t offer a selection of ambitious dessert options, but I can’t here. This is so adorable that it melted my cold heart. Plus, realistically everyone coming to Be Our Guest is doing it for at least in part of Beauty and the Beast coolness.
These desserts aren’t merely fodder for social media–they’re delicious and compliment one another nicely. This is a definite upgrade from the cupcakes served here before, and the mix of taste plus delightful presentation instantly places this among the best overall desserts at Walt Disney World. It’s really fun.
Part of the “fun” for me is that it’s also very photogenic, and a tricky subject. I’m not even going to tell you how long I spent taking pictures of this before eating it (the 3 edited photos in this review are a small number of my total keepers, though). Suffice to say, it’s probably a good thing we were seated in a far corner of the room.
Overall, we enjoyed dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant before and we like it slightly more now. For the most part, fan opinion seems to fall either in the “love it” or “hate it” camps, but we’d say we’re firmly in the “like it a lot” camp. It’s not on par with Signature Restaurants in the resort hotels, but it’s better than expected.
There’s also the practical planning perspective, which is that the Magic Kingdom dining lineup is the weakest in all of Walt Disney World. There’s literally only one other dining option in the entire park that stacks up to Be Our Guest Restaurant, and that has a more adventurous menu that won’t appeal to picky eaters. When considering the practicality of a Walt Disney World vacation, that makes Be Our Guest even more of a winner (and must-score ADR!) since its in-park competition is not exactly fierce.

My family had dinner at BOG , July 2022 and my husband and I were very disappointed not only in the small size of our meals but also in the mediocre taste of the pork and fish dinners (more like the size of appetizers). It seems the only dinner worth ordering was the filet mignon which was very good, although it was small. When I saw my dinner, I was literally upset. It consisted of two small circles of pork, one being very dry and the other raw in the middle. I saw a picture of the dinner online before I ordered it but it must have been a picture taken pre-Covid because the dinner looked very appetizing not at all like the dinner I received. On the bright side, the salad was good, the dessert was cute but small and the large windows with the snow falling were beautifully done.

@Alex – the last time I ate at Be Our Guest was December 2020. Based on my experience, I don’t think there is any chance you would be out of there before 8:30 at the very least. Even if you show up early for your reservation there is no guarantee that you’ll be seated early so that’s not an option with a 7:20 reservation. I would allow 90 minutes from check-in to payment at the end of your meal to be safe (75 minutes if you’re feeling hopeful). That being said, I would keep checking back as your day in MK gets closer. I’ve gotten lucky before with others cancelling within a day or 2 of the reservation.
You didn’t ask for other recommendations, but I’ll also mention that I was in DW last month and tried Jungle Navigation Skipper Canteen for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We all enjoyed our meal and said it’s a good option if someone wants to sit down to eat in MK.
We are going in Feb. 2022 and were lucky enough to snag a BOG dinner reservation but it’s for 7:20pm. I’ve read to expect to be there over an hour and I’m thinking that means we’ll miss out on Enchantment. We only have the one day to be at Magic Kingdom so I guess we have a tough choice on our hands between either keeping the dinner or canceling it for Enchantment. Any advice? Anyone that can attest to how long BOG dinner takes? Thanks!
Hi. We are going to Disney in February 2022 for the first time! My son and daughter are obsessed with beauty and the beast and seeing the beast is by far the thing they are most looking forward to. I managed to get dinner reservations for Be Our Guest but it is at 3:00. It shows that 3:00 begins the dinner time experience, but Does anyone know if the Beast will be there at that time? On my confirmation email it states, “Characters not there at this time.” I’ve tried calling but it’s super hard to get through. I would appreciate any help I could get! Thank you!
This sounds lovely for a nice evening out for a couple, but they’ve pretty much priced families out of this one, especially pricing 10-year-olds as “adults”. For my family of 6, we’d be looking at $62 x 6 = $372 plus tax and tip, so probably somewhere north of $450 altogether. That’s a definite pass for me.
(Frankly, this isn’t unique to Be Our Guest. Many of the fine/signature restaurants are hard to justify for a family with several children.)
Hi.
I really appreciate your notes and read thoroughly before we went last week.
My sister and I took a sister & our children trip the weekend before Thanksgiving. Ages 53, 50, 30, 21, 18, and 11. So no littles and we were so excited for the late lunch at Be Our Guests. We appreciated the food and the bubbly. It was good. However, for the price and being in the Magic Kingdom, we expected more. Certainly not in the way of food as our servers were amazing and attentive and we were never lacking for anything. We expected more Beast, more magical something—-we aren’t sure what but we assumed there would be more than a quick pass through of the Beast. Earlier on the trip, Minnie and Micky were on a balcony at HS and when we went to take a selfie, they both stopped and got in our shot, waving to us, and other families who were doing the same. Not the Beast…he moved pretty fast and if your party was at the far wall, you did not even get the drive by version, as he went up one side and down the other. We were in the library so he could have made a full circle (square). My attempt at photos failed. We were seated for close to 2 hours….no complaint there as we never felt rushed and had fun as a family but I feel they missed the mark on this high priced experience. Hoping to be a Grandmother some day, I don’t think I would add this to my to-do list as it was lacking.
I will say, we also did the Epcot Beauty and the Beast sing-along (the 11 and 21 year old boys was not trilled but the rest of us were:-) and I feel they missed the boat here as well. It was a video—where is Belle leading us along, really person or robot-like the Presidents.
Overall, a great trip, lots of fun and laughter and am grateful for your tips and information.
If there was a park survey, I would share my thoughts as well.
So if you had one choice would you do Be our Guest or Cinderella’s Royal Table?
No question it’s an experience and the theming is great. We went for lunch in 2018 and enjoyed it. But now the prix fixe prices for lunch or dinner are $62 for adults and $37 for kids?! That is insane. No thanks!
My desert did not look as pictured. Tbe white choc. chip had no color on him but the kids did get to paint their chip with their desert. I was happy with the food but not with the beast. We barely saw him and tried to take a photo before he walked away. I was hoping to get a photo of him in the background with my kids but no luck. Do not go there right now if you are just looking for character dining. Stick to disney junior play and dine or chef Mickey’s which were.both awesome and much cheaper.
Unfortunately I thought it was overrated. I was psyched to get a reservation for our party of 9. Should have known not to go based on the kids menu. They aren’t strictly mac and cheese kids but it was still a little too fancy for them….and…I had to pay about $30 for each. My 3 1/2 year old barely ate a thing, my 6 year old did a bit better. I liked the desserts. Prices were insane but hey, I knew that going in. The Beast’s appearances seemed very awkward and I had secondhand embarrassment, just trudging through every 20 minutes or so, giving a little wave, then off he went. Once was enough for me.
We are at BOG last night on the prix fixe menu. Honestly. I was a little underwhelmed. Atmosphere was great. Food was good, but it’s not not OMG. Let’s do it again. We may not even stay in the every trip list. Maybe every third trip list.
I enjoy your thoughts of what is happening blog. I would like to share my entre. We enjoyed “Be our Guest” last memorial weekend. I ordered the Lamb chops special and it was totally awesome. My dinner was lamb chops with puréed celery root, chili jelly, brown gravy that tasted like brown sugar and pork reduction.
I have tried to reproduce the chili jelly, still working on the others. Yes my wife and I would definitely dine there again. Thank you for the blog and your thoughts.
After looking at the menu, no thanks . I’ll goto Epcot for the food and wine festival
The first time I ever went to DW (2017), we were lucky enough to score a breakfast at BOG and I loved it. I love Beauty & the Beast and I enjoyed the food a lot. It was at the very top of our to do list when we returned in 2019 and I was lucky enough to get a very early breakfast reservation AND dinner reservation for the same date. Both meals were such an amazing experience! I loved being able to see walk thru a nearly empty park in the morning and pose for pics without hundreds of people in the background. I felt like a real life VIP lol. The dinner experience was amazing. We loved all the dishes we ordered, our server was super attentive, very friendly and fun…even though our reservation was one of the last of the day. My son totally knocked out early in the dinner after such a long day so our server was able to move us to a table alwith a bench where he was able to sleep. Our family dinner turned into a date night and it was all so magical.
My daughter and just returned from WDW and was lucky enough to get a 7pm dinner reservation for her birthday May 31st. (on her actual birthday, we were so excited!)
We both ordered the Filet Mignon and it was soooooo delicious! For the appetizer she ordered the French Onion Soup and I ordered the Mixed Field Greens. It was equally just as good as the main course. I would love to know what the Stone Fruit Vinaigrette was. Do you know?
I absolutely love Be Our Guest! A must do dinner. Love the Ambiance and the food is delicious and the service and of course getting to meet Beast at the end. But I guess that won’t be happening?? We’ve had lunch there once and the food was fine, nothing special, but I just enjoy eating in the ballroom. Christmas there was spectacular!!
Hi Tom & Sarah!
First of all, thank you for continuing your updates. It was nice to live vicariously through your Boardwalk stay the other week.
Would you recommend Be Our Guest over Skipper’s Canteen? If we’re able to keep our December trip, we’re only going to Magic Kingdom once so I’m trying to decide where to get an ADR. We’ve eaten at BOG a few times prior to the change to prix fixe but opted not to the last few visits because something kept holding me back. We’ve never eaten at Skipper’s but have been thisclose to being adventurous a few times. There are no picky eaters in our party so either menu works. If you only traveled to Disney World once a year, couldn’t utilize the park hopper, and only booked one of your seven park days in Magic Kingdom, which restaurant do you think you’d lean towards?
Stay safe down there!
Hi
Can you tell me how much is the fixe price dinner?
My family had dinner at BOG shortly after it opened and it was MAGICAL!!! Fast forward to 2018 and I had dinner there once again with my Mother on a girls trip expecting the same experience. I did not get it. $100 for one dinner and one beer. And the food was mediocre at best. We had breakfast ressies on our family return trip in March 2020. We didn’t make it…the park shut down. Love the ambiance inside the Castle but I would not spend $400+ on a not very edible meal if I have to take the whole family back for dinner. Disappointed we didn’t get to have our before the park is open breakfast this year – hopefully another time.
