Best Halloween Snacks at Disney World

Halloween snacks have returned to Walt Disney World! Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have numerous themed treats, with countless desserts plus a few savory entrees. We’ve eaten most of them, and in this guide, we’ll review the best, sharing our favorites and quick info on what to avoid.

More than ever this year, we’d highly recommend doing a Halloween snack crawl at Walt Disney World. If you’re a repeat visitor, this is the kind of thing that adds repeatability to the parks, and offers a fun way to get into the festivities. Plus, the restaurant menus are dramatically reduced right now, so a little ‘dining diversity’ goes a long ways.

Halloween snacking is easier at Magic Kingdom, where you can really embrace the seasonal event by grabbing a snack, snapping photos of it and decorations, watching a cavalcade, and repeating the process. It also helps that there are a ton of fall food options (see the full list here) and you could easily do a Halloween-filled day in Magic Kingdom…

A couple of things to note before we get started. First, Mobile Order is the only way to purchase many of these items. It might seem awkward to Mobile Order a single dessert, but it’s a simple and smooth process. (If you’re doing a snack crawl, it ends up being faster to order while on the move than waiting in line at every location!)

Second, we have not yet tried every single Halloween food available at Walt Disney World. Some aren’t yet available, others we simply haven’t gotten to yet. Accordingly, we’ll add items to this list if anything else merits the “best of” distinction. We just wanted to get this posted sooner rather than later for those visiting in the near future.

Finally, we’re going to start at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a couple of reasons. It’s where the vast majority of new Halloween snacks can be found, so I want to highlight those. Also, our snack posts from DHS have historically underperformed (some might say is a tragedy since the park usually has some ‘sleeper snacks’), so I want you to at least have to scroll past these gems to get to the Magic Kingdom stuff…

DHS Halloween Snacks

Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli (Available at PizzeRizzo) — Pumpkin cheesecake mixed with a hazelnut praline crunch in a cannoli shell. PizzeRizzo is not known for “food” that is “edible” but it’s often been a standout location for desserts.

That’s once again true here with the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli. This crisp but flaky shell is perhaps a bit too sturdy, but offers a nice crunch and contrast to the rich pumpkin cheesecake filling. It’s on the sweet side and a tad artificial tasting, but still very good. This ended up being Sarah’s favorite item and my second-favorite at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Leave the “pizza,” take the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli.

Box of Bones Chocolate Éclair (Available at Backlot Express) — Chocolate éclair with dark chocolate mousse and white chocolate bones. Joining the Wookie Cookie on the menu, we can safely say this is the best dessert at Backlot Express.

The Box of Bones Chocolate Éclair is actually pretty good without that low-bar comparison. The pastry itself is light and airy, with a fresh quality that we were definitely not expecting. The filling is decadent and heavy, providing a nice balance to the dessert. Our third favorite item at DHS, which speaks more to the competition than this item. Still recommended.

Pumpkin Tiramisu (Available at Rosie’s All-American Café) — Layers of cream mascarpone and spiced pumpkin cake. Joining the unsung Fried Green Tomato Sandwich on the menu here, this makes for a winning one-two punch.

There are a few things for which I’m a total sucker who cannot be counted on for an objective review. Calamari is one, and tiramisu is another. There’s no such thing as “bad” versions of either–but that’s irrelevant here because this is fantastic. It’s creamy, it’s pumpkiny, it’s absolutely glorious. It’s rich, refreshing, and the fall flavors meld perfectly. Forgot the PSL, this should be your go-to pick-me-up after a busy morning of touring DHS! 😉

Poison Candied Apple (Available at Trolley Car Café) — Apple and caramel mousse covered in red glaze with a crunchy candy base.

Review for this item coming soon–but leaving this placeholder here for now to draw your attention to this item. We skipped it at my behest because “I hate caramel-dipped apples.” This is not a caramel-dipped apple…which I knew, because I had read the description, seen photos, and even added it to my list of things to try. Not sure what happened…it was a hot and frustrating day.

Magic Kingdom Halloween Snacks

Not So Poison Apple Cupcake (Available at Pinocchio Village House) — Spiced apple cupcake with pecan crunch buttercream themed after a poison apple. This hefty cupcake first appeared a couple of years ago, before mysteriously vanishing last year.

The abundant pecan crunch here provides a nice contrast to the sweet buttercream on top. The portion of buttercream is largeand is itself layered. The end result is a cupcake that’s textured, delicious, and balanced. It might seem pricey at $7, but this thing is colossal, and easily shareable. Highly recommended.

Constance’s For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake (Available at Liberty Square Market) — Citrus cake with raspberry Bavarian cream, whipped cream flowers, and a chocolate axe.

The flavors are good here, with the raspberry Bavarian cream being addictively good. However, it’s top-heavy on the cream and icing, with way too little cake underneath to balance things out. It’s also a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and presentation make that easier to justify

Pumpkin Spice Milkshake (Available at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies) — Topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, sprinkles, and a Mickey-shaped marshmallow straw

Another returning favorite, this pumpkin spice milkshake delivers on both the “pumpkin” and “spice” fronts. The biggest downside is the $8 price point, which is undoubtedly because of its photogenic quality with the (pointless) Mickey-shaped marshmallow straw. While this is good, we’d recommend saving a couple dollars and getting the more straightforward sundae instead of this milkshake.

Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Sundae (Available at Sleepy Hollow) — Pumpkin spice-flavored waffled topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and sprinkles. Saving the best for last, we have the Magic Kingdom Halloween snack icon.

This has changed a few times in the last several years. Our favorite was last year’s chocolate waffle with pumpkin gelato version. Others favor this one. Regardless, this is the best Halloween snack at Walt Disney World so long as the waffles are fresh (if not, all bets are off).

Having this available for purchase all-day, every day almost makes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party worth it. Or so we hoped.

As it turns out, Sleepy Hollow is also the location of the Madame Leota Sipper and Disney fans love their novelty food & beverage containers. While we do not get the appeal, we respect the game–the design here is cool. What we do not like is the crowds that have descended upon Sleepy Hollow. Hopefully these die down soon, because we have some Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Sundaes to consume!
