Brazil Booth Review & Menu: EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

Brazil is a booth in World Showcase at the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. In this Walt Disney World booth review, we’ll share menu prices, food photos, and offer thoughts on whether each item is worth your money.

Let’s start with a brief synopsis of what’s happening with the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. This year’s culinary event runs from July 27 until November 18, 2023–a total of 115 days. The festival is starting 13 days later and ending a day earlier than last year, making this a 2-week shorter run than each of the last 3 years.

Beyond that, the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival will roll out in three waves. The first beings on July 27 when the overwhelming majority of booths open, including Belgium. This is right before school goes back into session and summer crowds tend to die down. The second is August 15, which is when the off-season arrives in full force. The final wave starts September 22, 2023–that’s also the date that the Disney100 celebration starts at EPCOT.

Here’s the food menu for the Brazil Global Marketplace at the 2023 Epcot Food & Wine Festival:

  • Feijoada: Black Beans with Pork Belly, Brazil Nut Pesto and Long Grain White Rice
  • Pão de Queijo: Brazilian Cheese Bread (Emile’s Fromage Montage item)

Brazil Beverages:

  • Xingu Brazilian Black Lager
  • Frozen Caipirinha with Cachaça

Now our photos and reviews of each item from this Global Marketplace at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. (Note: these have not yet been updated with fresh reviews of the new items at the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. Stay tuned for that!)

Moqueca: Brazilian Seafood Stew with Scallops, Shrimp, and White Fish with Coconut-Lime Sauce and Steamed Rice ($5.25) – This is a heavy dish and is probably something you’ll enjoy more towards the November end of the event than the hot and humid early weeks.

The creamy coconut stew with a hint of lime does provide a mildly refreshing quality, and the seafood present is generally pretty good. The white fish is what’s dominant, and it can range from crisp and flaky on the good end to soggy and rubbery on the bad end. We’ve we’d recommend this probably depends upon the weather when you visit.

Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato and Onions ($6) – Like so many, the quality of this dish is largely dependent upon the quality of the meat you get here. The other accompaniments are mostly unimpressive, neither carrying or bogging down the dish–just sort of “there.”

I generally love pork belly, and even when this dish is overly fatty, poorly prepared, or undersized, I still find myself generally enjoying it. Your mileage may vary on that, though. It’s hard to justify if you’re paying cash out of pocket.

Brazilian Cheese Bread ($4.50) – You can buy almost the exact same thing, right down to the gluten-free nature, in the freezer section of your local Target. They’re called “Brazi Bites,” and they’re $5 for an 18-pack. (I’ve seen them on sale for $3.99!)

That’s not to say these aren’t addictively good–I made about a half dozen of these suckers over the weekend, polishing off what was left of a bag. They have a gooey and airy quality that makes you want to eat as many as possible. However, when even a kitchen novice like me can cook these to perfection at home, it’s a tough sell at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival.

Overall, Brazil is one of the more disappointing booths at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Not because it’s one of the worst options–it’s probably middle of the pack, with variance up or down depending upon your luck–but because Brazilians make up such a large Walt Disney World visitor demographic, and there’s clearly unrealized potential here. I’m still hopeful that one day World Showcase gets a proper Rodizio or Galeto restaurant, but in the meantime, a better showing at Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival would certainly be appreciated.
