Character Dining Reservations Open for Topolino’s Terrace at Disney World
Walt Disney World has released new details about the new Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience at Topolino’s Terrace, including the characters featured at this Walt Disney World character meal, breakfast menu items, and more. Additionally, Advance Dining Reservations are now available for Topolino’s Terrace at Riviera Resort.
In case you missed our previous post about it, Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera is the new signature table-service restaurant perched on the rooftop of Disney’s Riviera Resort (Topolino is the Italian name for Mickey Mouse). Topolino’s Terrace will feature authentic dishes infused with French and Italian flavors, and will offer picturesque views of Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Reservations just opened for Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience at Topolino’s Terrace, which will debut on December 16, 2019. As with the similarly-named Storybook Dining at Artist Point that debuted exactly one year earlier, we’d expect the Topolino’s Terrace character meal to become a hot ADR, so book early if you’re thinking about doing it…
Our basis for this is quite simple: despite being at a resort, we expect high demand for Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience. First, because it’s new. Second, breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is going to feature very popular characters in unique outfits.
Third, it’s easily accessible from Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios via the Skyliner gondolas. Finally, we expect the menu here to be more ambitious than the character dining norm; this is another parallel to the Artist Point character meal, and one that will make it a crowd-pleaser among both kids and adults.
Speaking of which, Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience at Topolino’s Terrace will offer a prix fixe breakfast menu from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily, and and can count as one table service credit for breakfast on the Disney Dining Plan. To make reservations, visit the Topolino’s Terrace page on Walt Disney World Resort website or call (407) WDW-DINE (407-939-3463).
That prix fixe menu will begin with fresh pastries including Danish, croissants, blueberry scones, or Epi bread. Following that, you’ll have a choices of entrees including Quiche Gruyère with house-made pancetta, Sour Cream Waffle, Wood-fired Butchers Steak, Smoked Salmon, Spiced Sausage Hash, Two Eggs Any Style, plant-based “Egg” Omelet, and more.
These options sound all over the place in terms of ambition, but that steak quickly caught my eye. Personally, I will take something like this that strives for quality food over the buffet at Chef Mickey’s any day. Unlimited only does you so much good when the cuisine is barely edible.
While enjoying breakfast and the bird’s eye views, guests will be able to meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, all of whom will be stylishly dressed from head to toe in outfits unique to Topolino’s Terrace. Our guess is that these costumes will be similar to what Disney Cruise Line uses for its Mediterranean sailings, which are lovely–it’s just too bad we won’t be getting Gondolier Goofy!
We haven’t exactly been the biggest cheerleaders of Disney’s Riviera Resort (although that began to change once we toured the rooms), one thing we are looking forward to is the dining options. Dinner also sounds and looks wonderful at Topolino’s Terrace, and it appears that Walt Disney World is going for something high-end here, like California Grill meets Capa (at Four Seasons Orlando).
Le Petit Café also sounds intriguing, and I really hope they offer craft coffee. It’d also be great if this is a cozy and inviting space, a la Cove Cafe aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships. I don’t expect quite that vibe from it, but I think it could be a really nice asset to the Barefoot Bay Resort Area. (I just made that resort ‘district’ up, but it should totally be a thing.
Not that we plan on staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort a ton–we don’t. However, after the resort irreversibly altered part of the lush character of Caribbean Beach Resort, and we’ve had to put up with construction noise and blight for the Riviera during multiple stays, I’m really looking forward to finally getting something positive out of Disney’s Riviera Resort while staying at Caribbean Beach.
Come December and beyond, I envision us requesting buildings 54-56 when staying at Caribbean Beach, walking over to that Skyliner station for park transportation, and doing most of our dining at the Riviera. Assuming, of course, that Walt Disney World doesn’t ‘get wise’ to this plan and turn those buildings into preferred rooms at Caribbean Beach!
On a tangentially related note, we’re sort of “stuck” staying at Caribbean Beach because we’ve been totally shut out of reservations at Disney’s Riviera Resort. I’ve been checking DVCMember.com daily for the last few weeks and haven’t seen anything. We’ve done this in the past for every other (recent) Disney Vacation Club resort opening, and have always had great luck booking early. Is it just me, or as anyone had success booking at Disney’s Riviera Resort inside the 7 month mark?
We realize that cash bookings are still available for the grand opening of Disney’s Riviera Resort…for $486 per night…in a Tower Studio. Call me crazy, but I’d much rather use 12 DVC points for the same room. Unless one of our waitlists comes through (and I’m not holding my breath on that), it looks like this character meal will be our primary means of experiencing Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Here in the UK Disney operates their own travel agency (which in the UK travel agents sell package holidays with profit built into the price of the holiday) and they have been offering the Riveara for quite a while now.
As someone who has been on a lot of holidays in Spain, France, Portuagal and Italy the Rivera just is “meh” a nice hotel but it looks no different to those that are all over the med .
My brother-in-law (who is a Virgin pilot) got married in a 5 star hotel in Cyprus and even though we spent £2400 for a week that included, flights, food, hotel and transfers that was a whole step above than what I have seen of the riverea so far.
Although we did do a character meal for the first time this year at Paris Disneyland Hotel the food there was excellent and the characters were anazing and they really gave us a floor show with our adult autistic nephew who we took as he wanted to go. So hopefully WDW have taken some experience from Paris and transplanted it to Florida. (mind you at 70 Euros a head you would hope so)
So I might not do a character breakfast (as due to Chron’s disease I can only eat very small meals at the start of the day) but I may go to the terrace one night.
The wife has only made one request which I MUST do that we have to go to the Teppen-Yaki at the Japanese Pavillion at EPCOT on our anniversary as that was her favorite meal of our entire honeymoon.
We have a dinner reservation for Jan. 4 at 7:00. Hoping to catch some fireworks shows for “dessert”. 🙂
We were lucky enough to book Riviera within the 7-month window and will be staying 12/23-12/28 in a 2-bedroom. We got an ADR for Toplino’s breakfast on 12/28, so it should be exciting!
Thanks so much for the information about the Annual Passes available from Sam’s Club. I just made my purchase and saved over $500.00!
This is a better saver ….how ? What about if u are a FL resident ? I buy GC’s at Sam’s but get a 20% renewel when I get our passes through disney
We’re at AoA the week this opens and it fits perfectly into a non-RP Epcot day. Was able to book breakfast for 12/18. The idea of hopping on the Skyliner to the Riviera and then on again to Epcot is so exciting. I know there was a lot of grief abut the price increases earlier this week but I really think the Skyliner is a total game changer for WDW.
“I know there was a lot of grief abut the price increases earlier this week but I really think the Skyliner is a total game changer for WDW.”
I agree. I couldn’t be more excited for the Skyliner.
While some of the price increases bother me, it’s pretty undeniable that Walt Disney World is investing an unprecedented amount of money into the parks–several BILLIONS of dollars!
Just got back! Stayed at Caribbean Beach Martinique building 24. We walked to Riviera to ride the skyliner as our building wasn’t close to the CB skyliner stop even though it was preferred. I love the Skyliner!! Even with some breakdowns, it was so fast compared to the monorail and busses! Since we had to be in Hollywood Studios before 7am to get a number for Rise of the Resistance (Avatar is still #1 in my book), we took the bus from Riviera also. It has a dedicated bus service, unlike Caribbean Beach which has several stops and isn’t efficient. The walk across the parking lot was short. We did this for Magic Kingdom also. From Martinique, the Riviera transportation is the way to go!
same issue as lissa – only options showing up are 12/16-18 and “dining plans not accepted.” also, as kim said, some different character choices would be extra exciting! glad to have booked the storybook dining for our upcoming trip as we do not have any evil queen signatures or pics!
I agree with the character variety. I’m planning a May trip and trying to find character dinners that are unique. Of course, there’s the bon voyage at the boardwalk restaurant that includes ariel, rapunzel and their princes, then 1900 at Grand Floridian you can either do Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and a couple winnie the pooh characters for breakfast or the Cinderella gang for dinner, or you can do Storybook at Wilderness for dinner with Snow White a couple dwarfs and the queen. But really, even with most of those, you’re doubling over on something else. Let’s get a Toy Story character dinner, star wars characters, and not the fab 5 dressed in star wars gear, and maybe a few other options for character meals. Would be nice to spend 7 days, have 7 character dinners and not double up on characters once…but that’s gonna be difficult without adding new character meals with different characters.
I think you’re right about the popularity of this because in addition to the reasons you list, it’s effectively inside a large moderate resort with 1500+ rooms…all of which are effectively in walking distance of this new character breakfast. And, yeah, Just a quick Skyliner ride for everyone at Pop Century, Art of Animation, Yacht & Beach Club and Boardwalk. It might just be even more convenient than the character meals at the monorail resorts, given the speed and capacity of the Skyliner.
How do you get the room waitlist option?. Is that an option when looking for a hotel? If the following week is cheaper that would be awesome vs. the week I picked.
I would have liked Topolino’s to have characters that can’t be found at many other meals, even if their costumes are different. I would think that this would be even more popular with different characters.
i completely agree. kind of tired of so many meals with the fab 5. granted, this one does include daisy, but i wish there was more variety across the board. like, why does ohana have lilo and stitch, and mickey yet again. why not moana? just as an example. not that they have trouble getting people to book, but more character variety would be great, and cut down on having to wait to meet them in parks.
yeah, the variety they do have is usually only available at breakfast, too, which kinda sucks. I’d rather do a character meal for dinner, chance to sit down and relax after a long day in the park rather than first thing in the morning, but seems like most dinners are repeat characters, so you almost have to do a breakfast or two to get that variety.
I like the choice of characters in stylish costumes. Too bad there is no character dining at dinner time also.
If you are ever visiting Disneyland Paris then the character dinner at the Disneyland Hotel was excellent, the food was amazing, the best of French cusine and characters that were entertaining and even though we went the week before Easter the servers weren’t trying to shoo you out of the door for the next load of diners.
The price tag of 70 odd Euros per head though was eye watering but it was possibly worth it, especially as the weekend we went there was frost on the ground and we had to buy hat and gloves at the park in April so we just wanted to get warm.
Tom – I just bought into Riviera through DVC, and I had a world of trouble trying to secure anything at the 7 month window. No clue what the issue is.
I had no problem securing a reservation at the 11 month window. I’m really looking forward to this hotel finally opening!
As of right now, (June 19) the only date available to search for ADR times is Dec 16. I can’t select any other dates on the calendar. I have a resort booking from Dec 13 – 22. I guess maybe one of many, many Disney site glitches?
Make sure you are logged in. I would think your window of booking is open.
Snagged dinner at Topolino’s and breakfast on another day for December.
