Deco Delights Food Booth Review: Epcot Arts Festival

Deco Delights is another Food Studio at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. This Walt Disney World dining review features real world photos of each item on the menu, plus our thoughts on each dessert.

In actuality, Deco Delights is sort of new. Previously located in the exact same location was the Decadent Delights Food Studio, and it similarly was the “dessert booth” of the event. Obviously, the two names bear more than a passing resemblance to one another…one can’t help but wonder if budget cuts took a “dent” out of the booth’s name. (Sorry, I’ll see myself out.)

Last year during the “Taste of” Festival of the Arts, Decadent Delights only served up ice cream. Prior to that, the menu was pretty similar in idea to what’s on offer at Deco Delights. It always rated highly for us thanks to ambitious and envelope-pushing desserts that were photogenic and delicious. Let’s see if Deco Delights continues that legacy of desserts that are as delicious as they are Instagrammable…

Per Walt Disney World, Deco Delights is the Food Studio where you can “satisfy your sweet tooth with sleek desserts inspired by the art deco movement–from the gilded glamor of the roaring 20s to the bright pastels of Miami Beach.”

Obviously, there are limitations on how much an architectural style can be conveyed via desserts, but I love the idea. Art deco has a rich history in Miami Beach, and it’s nice to see Walt Disney World leaning more into its Florida roots. More of this would be fantastic.

Here’s what’s on the menu at the Deco Delights Food Studio:

  • Dulce Chocolate Mousse with Chocolate Crémeux and Dark Chocolate Truffle
  • Decadent Valrhona Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Brownie and Cassis Mousse
  • Orange Mousse with Lemon Cake and Raspberry Meringues

Now let’s take a look at our photos and reviews of each food item…

We’ll start with the Dulce Chocolate Mousse with Chocolate Crémeux and Dark Chocolate Truffle.

There are a lot of flavors here, or rather, variations on chocolate. On top there’s a dark chocolate truffle that’s surprisingly bitter, but that contrasts with the rest of the flavors nicely. Below that is a soft and sweet vanilla cake, with just the right amount of density and richness.

The Dulce Chocolate Mousse is also filled with dulce de leche mousse, the saltiness of which balances out the cake and its sweetness. Then there’s the graham cracker base, which does well at offsetting the cake consistency and texture. Off to the side is a scoop of more rich chocolate, adding another texture and flavor of chocolate to the mix.

If you’re a chocolate lover, this is absolutely for you. I’m not, and I absolutely loved this–it offers a surprising amount of range for a decadent, chocolate-centric dessert. Highly recommended.

Next, we have the Decadent Valrhona Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Brownie and Cassis Mousse.

The angular brownie is exceptional–thick and gooey with a perfectly rich flavor. It’s coated with what the menu calls a dark chocolate mousse, but it’s arguably approaching fondant thickness/texture territory. Either way, it’s a fantastic pairing with the brownie, and the dusted chocolate ice cream is likewise delicious, and balances out the brownie nicely.

Both of these first two desserts run the risk of being overly indulgent or rich, but thread the needle delicately for the most part. The two of us shared these (immediately after “entrees” from Craftsman’s Courtyard) and were perfectly satisfied afterwards. The two booths were a great one-two punch with lightness followed by decadence. We’d highly recommend ordering two items from there and these two desserts.

With that said, we probably could’ve done without the Orange Mousse with Lemon Cake and Raspberry Meringues.

Perhaps it’s because we ate this after two rich and heavy chocolate desserts (rookie mistake), but this was a miss for us. The orange mousse was flavorful, but everything else was just sort of dry and unremarkable. It was also a tad too artificial tasting, rather than fresh or refreshing. It’s vibrant and pretty, so there’s that, but this is a one and done for us.

Here are your options in terms of drinks at the Deco Delights Food Studio:

  • 3 Daughters Brewing Strawberry Blonde Nitro, St. Petersburg, FL
  • 81Bay Brewing Co. Vanilla Porter, Tampa, FL
  • Playalinda Brewing Company Milk Stout, Titusville, FL
  • Neapolitan Beer Flight

Overall, reactions to the Deco Delights Food Studio are likely to vary largely based upon love of chocolate and how many other decadent desserts you’ve already had at the Epcot Festival of the Arts. Thankfully, these items aren’t just good for superficial social media content–they’re actually ambitious and at least two-thirds taste great.

We found Craftsman’s Courtyard and Deco Delights to be the perfect one-two punch for a satisfying light meal followed by heavy desserts. The final dessert didn’t do much for us, but we could’ve been unlikely (or eaten them in the “wrong” order). All things considered, we’d hazard a guess that you’ll like 2 of the 3 desserts at this booth, and that’s enough to put it among the good-to-great Food Studios at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.
