Disney Countdown Calendars
When counting down our trips to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Sarah and I love to create calendars to help make the countdown fun! For those curious, I use Adobe Photoshop CS6 to make these countdown calendars. I found a basic calendar template via Google Image Search, and layered in photos and text (free fonts from MickeyAvenue.com). If you have a basic understanding of Photoshop, they’re really easy to make (you just need to know layers). If you are not familiar with Photoshop, I might recommend making one by hand instead. You could easily achieve similar results by printing out some text and photos, and pasting it all together on a calendar page!
Here are some of the calendars we’ve used in the past. Notice the evolution?

i find a Disney pic online with as many characters as possible in it. I print the pic as large as I can; if the picture won’t cover an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet without losing focus, I choose a different picture. Then I print a 100 grid that I created for this purpose. I tape the top edge of the 100 grid to the top edge of the picture. We begin 100 days out & cut one # square off each night. As we get closer to departure day, we reveal more of the picture! :o) no, we don’t have children in the house – just my sister & me – both in our 50’s & we LOVE it!
Many thanks for the good short article, I was looking for details similar to this, visiting have a look at the other articles.
I use this on Disney planning stuff just for fun! 🙂
Waltograph is a fun font…I often have to be careful about overdoing it with that font, in fact!
This is amazing. After enjoying over every one of your TouringPlans blog posts I finally decided to wander over to your own blog the other day while tuning out during some lengthy back to school meetings…(shh don’t tell)…and I was so happy to first stumble upon this post.
The kids come back on Tuesday but next time I’m in a seemingly endless faculty meeting I will no doubt be working on a countdown calendar of my own!
Glad you came over to the blog!
Hmm. Was the Disney font free? I could see doing this for Our trips, but is 13 months too early to start a count down?
Love the idea, really helps to build the anticipation! And it looks like we’ll be getting to WDW on the same day to celebrate the 40th. Can’t wait!
you have met figment?!?!?! i’m soooo jealous!!!!
