Disneyland Paris Reopening Date & Details
Disneyland Paris and the Walt Disney Studios Park, along with Newport Bay Club Hotel and the Disney Village complex began their phased reopening on July 15, 2020. In this post, we’ll share the details, including temporary health safety protocol, rules, and more. (Updated August 12, 2020.)
Both parks, several resorts, and the shopping complex are now operating. In Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios Park, the majority of rides, shows, shopping, and dining locations have resumed operations. However, experiences that draw large group gatherings and some indoor shows will return at a later date. Additionally, as with the other parks, some modifications will be made to accommodate physical distancing.
The reopening of Disneyland Paris is in line with guidance from the government of France, health authorities, and has been discussed with Union Representatives from the Comité Social et Economique (CSE). If all goes according to plan, subsequent stages of the plan will continue in late summer and continue through the fall and into Spring 2021…
Here are other hotel reopening dates announced by Disneyland Paris:
- Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne – Currently open, will close again from October 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021
- Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe – Open
- Disneyland Hotel – December 8, 2020.
- Disney’s Newport Bay Club – Open
- Disney’s Sequoia Lodge – May 1, 2021
- Disney’s Davy Crocket Ranch – TBD
- Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel – March 8, 2021
Note that these hotel dates were modified in August 2020 based on a (lack of) guest demand. Hotel bookings have been low since Disneyland Paris reopened, so the timeline has been adjusted accordingly based upon what’s necessary. Don’t be surprised if the above dates change again.
Extra Magic Time will continue, so every guest staying at a Disney Hotel or Disney Nature Resort will be able to access select areas of the parks an hour before official opening time.
While originally scheduled to open this summer, Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel wasn’t even mentioned in the reopening announcement. It was previously revealed that construction on the project was temporarily put on hold, and Disneyland Paris was reaching out to guests with reservations to offer refunds or rebooking vouchers for reservations.
As with the other Disney Parks, the phased reopening of Disneyland Paris will incorporate a deliberate approach. Enhanced health and safety measures will be implemented for the safety of both Cast Members and guests. This will include limits on attendance and the requiring of advanced ticketing and reservations to accommodate controlled guest density that supports government guidance on physical distancing.
As a result, some experiences, shows or events will not be available or may be modified upon reopening depending on the evolution of the safety and sanitary measures and recommendations from public authorities. This includes entertainment offerings such as Disney Stars on Parade and Disney Illuminations nighttime spectacular, both of which will return at a later date.
The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands and Jungle Book Jive shows will return later in Summer 2020. Theaters will adopt a new seating configuration to promote physical distancing. Guests can check the availability of attractions and entertainment through the resort’s official website and app.
Restaurants seating capacity will be reduced, while a new Take-Away option will allow guests to enjoy eating in the many outdoors locations available in both parks. Buffet restaurants will change to a new all-you-can-eat table service offer. Advance reservations are highly recommended for all table service restaurants.
Disneyland Paris boutiques will be open and reconfigured to create a larger circulation space. In addition, Cast Members will be available to encourage physical distancing. Different entry and exit paths will be used in both restaurants and boutiques, while contactless payment will be encouraged and sneeze guards installed at points of sale
In order to accommodate physical distancing guidelines, character meet and greets will be temporarily unavailable. Characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight guests–likely via cavalcades and smile & wave greetings. There will also be new Selfie Spots, but close interactions and hugs will not be permitted.
In attractions, the configuration of each ride including boarding will be adapted for physical distancing between groups or families. Additionally, FastPass services will be suspended in order to allow for the necessary queue management on attractions.
Other experiences such as playgrounds and makeover experiences will remain temporarily unavailable. Cast members and guests ages 11 and older will also be required to wear face coverings while at the resort.
As Disneyland Paris welcomes guests back with a limited number of tickets available each day during the initial reopening, a new online reservation system is now available. To ensure admission, guests in possession of or buying non-dated tickets, and Annual Pass holders, will need to register on this new online reservation system to obtain a reservation for park entry prior to their arrival.
Guests who already have a dated ticket to Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney Studios Park do not need to register and reserve a date. Likewise, guests with hotel + ticket packages that include park admittance will receive admission for the duration of their stay and do not need to use the new online reservation system.
Tickets and packages are now on sale on the resort’s website, Disneyland Paris call center, and official travel partner channels with a limited number of tickets available each day during the initial reopening phase. Ticket sales will not be available on site at Disneyland Paris.
Upon arrival, guests will be asked to present both the confirmation file received after the reservation is secured and their park ticket to be granted access to Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney Studios Park.
To provide guests with maximum flexibility, new booking conditions are now available to include cancellations and modifications without fees (excluding transport) on stays in the Disney Hotels anytime up to seven days before the arrival date.
Overall, about par for the course with the reopening announcements from Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and everywhere else. It’s nice that Disneyland Paris isn’t making guests with date-based tickets or hotel & ticket packages make additional reservations. Walt Disney World doing the same would cut down on a lot of the headaches that have been experienced over the last couple days, but we can see why that wouldn’t be feasible.

I’m visiting DLP from London this weekend and will be following all guidelines and wearing masks the whole time, including on the Eurostar journey there. Based on Tom’s reports from WDW it seems as though Disney and their guests are adhering to physical distancing measures well, the same looks to be true from most of the AP preview pictures I’ve seen on Instagram from DLP although there did seem to be the odd spot of congestion at rope drop. Wait times also look to be shorter than expected but not in walk on territory for many attractions, let’s see how this continues into the official reopening and the weekend. We’re combining DLP with a visit to Paris city to hopefully make the most of the wonderful museums being largely devoid of tourists. I think attitudes to travel have changed in Europe since cases have continue to drop and countries have agreed to remove quarantine rules with each other, there seems to be hope that at least a part of the summer season can be salvaged albeit at a slower and more physically distanced pace. Hopefully my visit this weekend is a success all round!
How do you know people in UK don’t care. What gives you the right to comment on how we behave.
Living in UK now . BBQ with more than one families where I live started before the ending of lockdown, garden where full of people, beaches are crowded from late may , playground are used even if close people don’t use mask and where I work we are already full book for the 4th of July opening . Worst CoVId tool in Europe And we are opening hospitality before other country . do I need to keep going :)? I’am happy you and where you live is different
If they had done like in the States where Guest need further park reservation and spending a lot of effort online no one would go to Disneyland Paris anytime soon in Europe . Probably parks will not be busy anyway beside Nordic country and UK where people don’t give a damn , European people are scared to the bone of the virus . They did the right move
I’m so glad I got to visit these parks before all the virus hype screwed everything up! DLP has the best versions of several E tickets, including Space, Big Thunder, and Pirates.
