Food & Dessert Guide to 2022 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Halloween treats are returning to Walt Disney World! Magic Kingdom has themed snacks and desserts, with 2022 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party exclusives and all-day food options available August 12 through October 31, 2022. In this food guide, we’ll take a sneak peek at the spook season treats.

Walt Disney World’s culinary teams have conjured up some frightfully fun delights for you to indulge in during your day trip to Magic Kingdom with more special treats during the 2022 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. During that event, the highlight for many guests is obviously trick or treating, with candy like M&M’s, Snickers, and more.

In addition to that, several restaurants and snack spots will be open and offering even more Halloween-themed items that are available for purchase. If our experiences in the past–and the stock photos and descriptions Disney has shared–are any indication, some of these are treats, whereas some are tricks…

Before we delve into the menus, one returning upcharge within the upcharge event is Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party held at Tomorrowland Terrace. This features Halloween-themed concoctions, including Pumpkin Cupcakes with frosting, Chocolate-covered Strawberries, Cheesecake Mousse with chocolate crumble topping and crisp pearls, and Pistachio White Chocolate Crunch Bar striped with purple chocolate and sprinkled with orange sanding sugar.

To our knowledge, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace does not offer reserved for the Boo to You Parade–the lack of this is a big deal. For most Halloween Parties, reserved viewing for Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular is totally unnecessary. It is nice for the Boo to You Parade, though. Plus, the reserved viewing area is not a good spot for viewing the fireworks (for the best spots, check out our Magic Kingdom Fireworks Viewing Locations Guide).

Beyond being a waste of money, the dessert party is a waste of time. There are just too many other great things to do at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (it’s unlikely you can do all of the regular entertainment in a single night) to justify attending a dessert party. It’s just not worth taking the time from the regular awesome entertainment of the Halloween party to do this. Plus, the idea of another upcharge event within an upcharge event just makes us cringe.

  • Zero Popcorn Bucket – materializing in early October 2022 at various popcorn carts throughout the park (Available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

Ultimately, a good number of additions and interesting sounding ones that I’m excited to try. I’m especially looking forward to the Bayou Burger at Cosmic Ray’s, which will probably either be awful or awesome. That’s been my experience with past Cosmic Ray’s Halloween burgers, which I’d say are batting pretty close to .500.

More of a “sure thing” is the Oh, My Gourd Cupcake, which delivers pumpkin spice in cupcake form. Main Street Bakery always used to have a good, giant cupcake during MNSSHP. They usually turned your mouth green or purple, but they were gigantic and delicious. Here’s hoping this is a revival of that trend!

However, there are also some disappointments. The lack of a pumpkin waffle sundae at Sleepy Hollow is a conspicuous omission–this was a real fan favorite option during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. (I’m guessing it’s gone because of the long lines and chaos it caused in the kitchen.) Everything at Sleepy Hollow sounds underwhelming, so that should remedy that lone lines “problem.”

Less surprising is the number of times vanilla ice cream is being served in places where pumpkin ice cream would’ve made infinitely more sense. This was a “problem” for several years, but Walt Disney World finally switched over to pumpkin spice ice cream at Auntie Gravity’s and a few other locations in 2019. Not sure why they’re reverting this year…perhaps pumpkin is too adventurous of a flavor for Walt Disney World guests. Regardless, we’ll try the more unique and interesting of these Halloween culinary concoctions and report back with reviews soon, so stay tuned!
