Haunted Mansion Caretaker – Disney Photo of the Day
After the Pirates of the Caribbean Helmsman, this is the most difficult-to-photograph dark ride scene in all of Walt Disney World. Capturing a good shot of the caretaker requires great timing, great manual focusing skills (or great luck with auto-focus!), fast lenses, and a camera capable of clean high ISOs. The last point is especially important–if you don’t have a full frame camera or high-end crop sensor camera, you might as well not even bother. It’s actually one of the few instances of equipment mattering nearly as much to the final image as the photographer’s skills. Given that I don’t have a full frame camera, this is about as good of a shot of this scene as I can ever expect to get with my current gear!

I’m no photographer, but I know how hard that particular shot must be based on my knowledge of how the scene is set up and experienced when gliding through the Mansion. You have done a nice job here, there is no doubt. My hands would have been shaking so badly with fright that I never could have held the camera still!
