Las Posadas Food Review: Epcot Holidays Festival
The Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen is a food booth at the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays in World Showcase’s Mexico pavilion. In this Walt Disney World dining review, we’ll share photos of every snack and dessert item, menu info, and offer our reviews & tasting notes.
The thing I like about Taco Bell is that there are no pretenses about the place. No one walks in thinking, “I’m going to explore the rich culinary traditions of Mexico.” And if for some reason they do, that’s totally on them. Taco Bell is a known quantity at this point. It’s a place you visit to further punish your body after a night of partying or when you’re in the mood for their test kitchen’s latest culinary abominations. It’s not good food, but it’s good fun.
What does that have to do with a review of the Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen? This, and every other recent Mexico booth at Epcot festivals, is basically the anti-Taco Bell. Food masquerading as something more than it is, bland as can be, and uninteresting to boot.
Here’s what’s on the food menu at the Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen:
- Enchilada de Pollo con Mole: Chipotle Chicken in a Corn Tortilla topped with Mole Negro and garnished with Shredded Oaxaca Cheese and Sesame Seeds
- Tamal de Camarón: Corn Tamal stuffed with Guajillo-marinated Shrimp topped with Mole Rojo and Shredded Cotija Cheese
- Arroz Con Leche: Rice Pudding with Cranberries
Now our photos and reviews of each item…
Enchilada de Pollo con Mole – If you’re looking for a slightly cheesy, vaguely corn tasting dish with chicken, choose this.
Tamal de Camarón – If you’re looking for a slightly cheesy, vaguely corn tasting dish with shrimp, choose this.
Arroz Con Leche – This is actually good. It’s basically the same dish from Food & Wine, except with cranberries in place of the mango. I liked it then, and I like it even more now.
The rice blended with the coconut milk makes for a creamy pudding that retains its texture and a good consistency. The cranberry topping pushes it over the edge as the tart plays well with the milkiness. It’s a refreshing dessert especially good for warmer days, or if you’re sick of Yule Log.
Here’s the Las Posadas alcohol menu:
- Cerveza Mexicana Artesanal: Allende Mexican Craft Ale served with a Floater of Kahlúa
- Noche Buena Margarita: Libélula Joven Tequila, Cranberry and Lime Juices and Agave Nectar topped with Lime Foam and Sprinkles
- La Posada Margarita: Cazadores Blanco Tequila, Horchata-Cinnamon Liqueur, and Agua de Horchata topped with Cinnamon
Out of the twelve Holiday Kitchens, the one in Mexico ranks #11. What’s more impressive than that it rates so poorly is that somehow another booth is actually worse than this! I’m sure you’re all on the edge of your seats to find out which one, but you’ll have to stay tuned for that big reveal…

Is there some secret blogger rule that you now have to all attend every event when Disney throws up food booths with samples for the prices of entrees at many real world restaurants that you eat off of trash cans and photograph?
I am serious. It’s like you’ll lose audience if you don’t review what is largely crap and, most certainly, not close to being worth what is charged unless you have no regard for money.
I have one very serious question; how much are you spending to sample this? Every report should have a ‘we paid this amount’ or a ‘six bloggers split two tablespoons worth of this to bring you a review and help sell the event for Disney.’ Because anyone with any sense, like myself, is never getting more than 2-3 (four if I’ve been drinking … real drinks) of these in a day.
There is more value to be had dining at the Liberty Inn and you have no idea my distaste for that place.
I don’t think it’s a secret blogger rule, but to stay relevant with the constant changes happening at the parks, bloggers want to have current information. If they don’t bring you updates, someone else will. At least in this post, all pictures are devoid of trashcans.
I, for one, am glad that others review all the options, because like you point out, no one is getting more than a couple items. I like knowing which ones are junk and which ones are worth the price. Whether the blogger buys all the food themselves or splits it amongst a dozen other bloggers is irrelevant, as long as the food was tasted. The other option is just walking by, taking a picture, and then making up a review. The bloggers aren’t selling the event, in fact they’re causing me to be more discriminant with my spending.
I’m glad you have a distaste for Liberty Tree Tavern, as it makes it easier for me to eat there.
Where did this super negative WDW1974 come from? Dude if you don’t want to read the blog, it’s really easy. DON’T READ THE BLOG! If you are just having a bad week, then stop replying. Tom does an amazing job on this blog and I read it everyday. I don’t feel the need to respond unless I have something helpful.
I’m pretty sure Tom is a big boy and can defend himself, but I absolutely agree with the 2 people who have responded to you wdw1974.
This site is a joy to read with almost (above being the exception) no snark to deal with.
I have enjoyed and relied upon DTB for several years now.
My family gets sick of hearing, “I read on my Tom Bricker blog”…., but multiple times I have taken his advice on the multiple items he takes the time (and money), to review.
And, he has readership BECAUSE he reviews such a broad range of subjects, important and minor in a candid manor.
And, If he has reached the point where he has some sponsorship, then GREAT!, he has earned it and can tell people like you to stuff it! (But, probably won’t).
Once all the reviews are posted, could you please give a top 5 items not to be missed summary post?
