Morocco Booth Menu & Review: 2020 Taste of Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Morocco’s Global Marketplace is our next stop at the 2020 Taste of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, as we continue our reviews around World Showcase. In this Walt Disney World dining review, we’ll share menu prices & info, food photos, and what’s worth the money–and what isn’t.

Before we get to that, let’s begin with a brief synopsis of what’s happening with the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. As you’re no doubt aware, Walt Disney World’s theme parks were closed for 4 months. Upon reopening, this event began—over a month before the full EPCOT Food & Wine Festival would typically start. In short, the Taste of EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is a truncated version of the full event.

Menus have been scaled back, fewer new items have debuted, and some dishes are holdovers from the Flower & Garden Festival. Walt Disney World has not officially announced when this event will end or how it might evolve as the phased reopening continues, but there are signs that it’ll be expanded. Consequently, we’re updating our menus & reviews to reflect what’s currently available—but note that this is all subject to change. Additional items might be added and others removed. We’ve been hot and cold on the Morocco booth over the last few years, with it going from one of our favorites to least favorites in only the course of a couple years. Sadly, the Morocco Global Marketplace at the 2020 Taste of Epcot Food & Wine Festival has done nothing to redeem itself–at least in terms of the savory cuisine.

Let’s start with a look at the menu. Right off the bat, do you notice anything? The top two items, repeats from past events, are literally double the price that they were a few years ago…

Here’s the full list & descriptions of Morocco’s food:

• Beef Kefta Pocket with Caramelized Onions, Garlic, and Spicy Tomato Concassée
• Spicy Hummus Fries with Cucumber, Tomatoes, Onions, Tzatziki, and Chipotle Sauce
• Chocolate Baklava: Rolled Phyllo Dough with Toasted Almonds and Dark Chocolate Sauce

Morocco Beverages:

• Mediterranean Beer
• Kasbah Prestige Red
• Red Organic Sangria
• Mimosa Royale: Sparkling Wine and Orange Juice topped with Orange Liqueur

Beef Kefta Pocket with Caramelized Onions, Garlic, and Spicy Tomato Concassée ($9) – This is pathetic. It’s basically a slider with an exotic presentation. If you want a hamburger, head further down the promenade to Regal Eagle Smokehouse.

For the price, this is arguably the biggest joke at the 2020 Taste of Epcot Food & Wine Festival. However, Morocco will try to top itself…

Hummus Fries ($8) – My main complaint with the hummus fries remains that the portion is way too small. When this debuted a few years ago, it was twice the size and half the price–no joke.

That’s unfortunate, as these have a refreshing zest to them and taste great. These taste really good, but we have a really tough time on the value-for-money front with Morocco’s hummus fries.

Chocolate Baklava ($4.50) – If you’ve ever talked to anyone ever who has tried to make baklava, the first thing they will bring up is how difficult it is to prepare. With that difficult and time consuming preparation often comes mixed results.

Not so with this chocolate baklava, which is flaky, dense, and features a variety of textures and flavors with each bite. It’s a delicious dessert, and for a relatively modest price tag, ranks as one of our top ‘must try’ snacks of the 2020 Taste of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. At least the booth partially redeems itself with this dessert!

Overall, Morocco is once again a mixed bag. The two savory items are not bad, they are just ridiculously priced for what they are. With no Disney Dining Plan this year and thus no “Monopoly Money” of those snack credits, it’s hard to imagine many people will order either of those items. Nevertheless, the baklava wows, and that’s what you should order if you’re heading to the Morocco booth.
