Nighttime Spectacular Food, Dining & Dessert Parties at Disneyland & DCA
Disney has announced special food for fireworks, parades, and other nighttime spectaculars returning to Disneyland and California Adventure next week. Here’s a full rundown of the savory snacks and sweet treats, plus details on the World of Color Dessert Party and Main Street Electrical Parade Dining Package. (Updated April 21, 2022.)
As a quick recap, Disney previously announced that Disneyland Forever Fireworks and Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Walt Disney’s original magic kingdom on April 22, 2022. The latter will have a brand new finale float, and diehard Disneyland fans are sure to come out to see that (and Disneyland Forever, which is actually a worthy anniversary show–unlike other more recent additions elsewhere).
Over at Disney California Adventure, World of Color also returns on April 22, 2022. With this, almost all of the entertainment at Disneyland Resort will be back or have a set return date in the future (Fantasmic is next up, coming alive on the Rivers of America starting May 28, 2022). That really leaves only Magic Happens Parade, Mickey and the Magical Map, and Frozen – Live at the Hyperion–and the latter two are probably gone for good.
Anyway, let’s turn our attention here to fun food for these returning nighttime spectaculars at Disneyland Resort, all of which will debut alongside the entertainment on April 22, 2022!
Across both parks, you can enjoy sweet treats and themed novelties. From the Parade Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to the Light-up Elliott Dragon Premium Bucket, these items are the foodie embodiment of these incredible nighttime spectaculars at Disneyland.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming to Disneyland and DCA on the food front for these nighttime spectaculars..

If you’re looking to enhance your nighttime celebrations, reserve one of the special dining packages, featuring food as well as reserved viewing of a select spectacular. Over at Disney California Adventure, there are three different options:
Paradise Gardens Park – DCA
- World of Color Dessert Party: Indulge in sweet delights including raspberry cookies, cheesecake, and Mickey crispies.
The World of Color dessert party can now be booked.
April 21, 2022 UPDATE – Over 24 hours after World of Color dessert party bookings went live, and there’s still scattered availability for late April and May 2022. Many dates in the next two weeks are sold out, but plenty of options remain if your dates are flexible.
Look for a full World of Color dessert party review coming soon! (Consider booking something before then, as you can always cancel if the reviews are bad. If reviews are good but availability is gone, you’ll be out of luck.)
Wine Country Trattoria – DCA
- World of Color Dining Package: Prior to the show, enjoy a delicious 3-course meal, including dishes like chicken parmesan, fettuccine alfredo, salmon, roasted vegetable lasagna, and tiramisu to name a few. Simply check in with your host or server about upgrading your reservation to the dining package!
Storytellers Cafe – Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
- World of Color Dining Package: Indulge in an all-you-care-to-enjoy dinner buffet with specialty sweets and a non-alcoholic beverage followed by reserved seating for World of Color. Upon arrival for your reservation, just let your server or the host know you want an upgrade to this enhancement.
It does not appear that World of Color dining packages will be bookable as a standalone reservation option. Instead, make normal restaurant reservations and request the World of Color dining package at the restaurant.
The old Disneyland.com page for World of Color dining packages indicates that pricing is $25 for kids and $50 for adults at Wine Country Trattoria or Storytellers Cafe. I’m 99% sure this has not been updated, as it still references Carthay Circle Restaurant.
Given the price increases on…literally everything…we’d be shocked if the prices are only $25/$50. Expect them to be at ~20% higher–my guess is $29 for kids and $59 for adults, but who knows. Hopefully I’m pleasantly surprised and the actual prices are the same as before or the increases are minimal.
The (also outdated) page for the World of Color dessert party promises the ability to sit back and relax in a “dedicated seating area and feast on decadent desserts and drinks.” The World of Color dessert party costs $89, up from $84 before.
The World of Color dessert party package includes:
- A sweet and savory selection of desserts and appetizers
- Beverages
- Paradise Gardens Park reserved seating in the World of Color preferred viewing area.
Price includes tax and gratuity. Please note that children ages 2 and under may attend free of charge, provided they are seated on the lap of an adult.

Got the dessert party for my trip in June! It’s definitely pricy (I wish there was a discount for kids since they won’t have alcohol), but after two days in the parks, I think my daughter and I will enjoy being able to sit down. Plus I’m 5’3″, and she’s a foot shorter. It’s a major bummer when we can’t see things!
Looks like it was just Dessert Party released today judging by here and twitter? A few members of my family had windows open and were trying and only one of us was able to book.
I wonder when WoC dining packages will open up? Just wait and see I imagine?
At this point, my guess is that it’s just going to be an add-on at the restaurants for the time being. With World of Color’s return only 2 days away, I’m not sure what the alternative is.
That would make a lot of sense, especially since there doesn’t seem to be a ton of availability in the reservations for most of these locations to begin with.

What time might the World of Color dessert party be available on April 20th based on past experience?
I was assuming that it would open up at 6am like most other dining slots, but there’s no sign yet. Have to keep checking every few minutes!
It’s really weird–doesn’t look like the page has been updated at all since 2020. Not exactly reassuring that this will be released today and ready to debut 2 nights from now.
My big worry is that it’ll show up somewhere completely separate on the site, rather than on the pages I’m refreshing.
At least I’m shooting for a date in May, rather than, you know, This Weekend…

They’ve brought up the “Please Sit Tight” system which they often use in times of extraordinary demand. The fact that I’ve not seen it come up with the “wait time” screen yet means (I think) that the underlying systems haven’t launched yet – ie: they’re not letting *anyone* in. When it changes to the “waiting room” screen with an estimated wait time, it means that the queue has started and it’s letting people through in batches.

Maybe.
Perhaps.
And just after I posted that, it switched to the “waiting room” screen. With “more than an hour” showing as the wait time 🙁

Woot, I was able to get a booking for the Dessert Party for the night I wanted (next month). So the system does seem to be working! Good luck to everyone trying to get their preferred bookings.
Sorry if I’m responding more than once, something seems to have changed in reply formatting. Got seats for may11 for the 10:15 world of color. As I mentioned ad nauseum on the site I’m 74 and my cousin is 80 so I was really sweating getting seats. I will be turning back my 4:25 wine country trattoria reservations so maybe someone else who is better with standing will get them and a shot at guaranteed standing.

Is the Plaza Inn Dining Package for the Electric Parade blocked on May 3- May 8? We tried looking for reservations but it won’t even let us pick a time!
It feels like it wasn’t available doesn’t it? I was searching for the 8th from 6:00 to 7:20 am at 7:30 am I searched later dates and had to settle for June 12th!
My guess is that capacity is EXTREMELY limited for this. I don’t know how else to explain how it went so quickly. I guess we’ll find out when we arrive to the viewing area–and will update accordingly.

They did. Sarah was able to book at 7:18 am PST. Shortly after that, we couldn’t find *any* availability. About 30 minutes later, there were more times.
It’s common for availability to get loaded slowly on ‘opening day’ for booking, so you might want to keep checking sporadically.

I’ve been trying non-stop since 9AM EST and saw NOTHING… it’s now almost 3PM. I guess I’ll give up since Tom replied to you that Sara was able to book earlier this morning and then times vanished 30 minutes later… womp womp… 🙁
I was on starting at 6:00am PST yesterday and was literally checking all day. I never saw any availability. So sad. I’ll keep checking until we leave on Wednesday, but not getting my hopes up now.
Same with me. Was trying on the app AND the website, still no luck.
For what it’s worth, I had a MW alert set for the dining package. My first email 2 pings were at 7:08 in my inbox, another at 7:11, two at 7:13, 1 at 7:22 and literally zero since then.
That Light-Up Elliot would look amazing on a shelf but there’s no way I can convince myself that I can actually use it as a popcorn bucket. (Not to mention that the bottom of Figment *may* have been dishwasher “safe” or “safe enough.”) I’ll still ask how much when it comes out, of course.
Is Disneyland Forever a “must see” show? I’m currently reserved for California Adventure on Monday, May 23rd and Disneyland Tuesday, May 24th, but Disneyland Forever doesn’t take place on Tuesday. Is it worth it to change my Disneyland day to Sunday 5/22? Or should I plan on viewing from Paradise Pier Hotel pool deck (or elsewhere), assuming they still pipe in the soundtrack?
I think Disneyland Forever is excellent. It’s no “Remember… Dreams Come True,” but it’s very good. With that said, fireworks get cancelled often due to wind in Anaheim, and weekends are typically busier than weekdays.
Given all of that, I probably wouldn’t shift my schedule around, but that’s really a personal decision.

Im not as familiar with the dining packages as others, have a couple questions about the one at Disneyland Plaza Inn? If I understand your article correctly, you dine in the afternoon and come back for the electrical parade later? I know for some of the dessert parties for Halloween, you are at the location for desserts and the parades at the same time so I was a little confused? Does the Plaza Inn not serve food during the parade? If not, they just have seats reserved for the parade then?
Curious if reservations will need to be made on the website or if we’ll be able to book using the Disneyland app any help would be fantastic
I would never pass up the opportunity to enjoy the third best fried chicken in a seven mile radius, the second best fried chicken from a Southern California theme park, but THE best fried chicken within two city blocks. To get a show with it is something other places can’t offer, especially a throwback show featuring technology from an age when cassette players were considered, in the words of my mom, “pretty neat” and “you have a perfectly fine record player, you do not need a My First Sony.”
You’re referring to Knott’s and Roscoe’s, right? (Because if there’s further fried chicken testing to be done in Orange County, I NEED to know, Darren. This isn’t the kind of privileged info you keep to yourself.)
I still think Plaza Inn is fantastic (usually–I’ve had a couple of underwhelming meals), but the price is the big killer for me. It’s just absurd for a theme park counter service meal.
Those are the ones I know, in OC anyway. I would never hold out on you, Tom, I would tell you everything.
Rosco’s service is abysmal at best, and I found Knott’s chicken underwhelming and flavorless. I’d pick Plaza Inn over both. haha

I’m curious about the wording for the Storytellers dining package. It says “reserved seating for World of Color”, do you think that is just a mistake?
My guess is that it’s just a mistake and they meant to use “viewing” in place of “seating.”
Keep in mind that it’s been over 2 years. The person who wrote the copy for that announcement may have forgotten how this works, never done it, or even be a newer hire. Or, it could have seating now! 😉
Hi Tom, we have plans to be at Disneyland the last weekend of April. Do you know when we can expect Plaza Inn packages to open for booking on 4/14? Midnight? 3AM? 6AM?
I truly do not know.
There’s not even a guarantee it’ll happen on 4/14, as some of Disney’s postings have used nebulous language like “no earlier than” or “as early as” 4/14. My guess is that it just happens at some random time on that date, but it could be 6 EST or 9 am Pacific.
Could you please explain to me on these reserved sections for world of color electrical parade etc if there are actual seating for these shows even with the dining packages? It seams like everything I have read that there are no real seating, everything is standing even with paying for special packages, unlike Disney World.
When it was last offered, the World of Color dessert party had actual seating.
My guess is that will continue to be the case, and everything else is a reserved viewing area. With that said, keep in mind that it’s been over 2 years since any of these were shown/performed…things could change.
Thanks. I agree. It sounded too good to be true. I’m sure your skepticism is warranted. Sigh. Unlike the plaza lunch and the world of color desert party , I didn’t see a date for the dinner packages at California adventure, just that wording.
Maybe you’re right. It is interesting that Disney didn’t share a date for dining package reservations starting–just dessert packages. Disneyland has always been more laid back about this stuff than WDW, so perhaps it’ll be offered to anyone who books those less-popular restaurants?

I know you said you would be back with more info but I wanted to be sure I understood correctly. I happened to already have trattoria reservation on May 11 at 4 something and May 12 at 6 something. Did I read correctly that when I check in for either of these reservations I might be able to get a package that would include a viewing spot reservation for the evening water show?
This would be such good news I can hardly believe it could be true!
I assume you’re referring to this line: “Simply check in with your host or server about upgrading your reservation to the dining package!”
While that’s from the press release, I wouldn’t count on it being the case. It has been possible in the past, but I’m skeptical about it going forward.
While historically not as popular as their WDW counterparts, I suspect these packages are going to be in high demand this summer and require advance booking of the package. I could be wrong, but I’d highly recommend hedging your bets and booking as the package to begin with.
