How to Register for Guardians of Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Preview Dates
Walt Disney World has sent out invitation emails and opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in Epcot. We have the details and how to register in case you’re one of the many APs who did not receive an email.
Reservations can be made by any eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholder. You do NOT need the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP invitation email–all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!
You also will not need to make a separate Disney Park Pass reservation to enter Epcot on the day of your Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind preview, but applicable Walt Disney World AP blockout dates DO apply. (Fortunately, there are a ton of eligible dates, so that should be easy to work around.)
Here are Walt Disney World’s other terms and conditions for the preview: “Limit one preview registration per Passholder. Capacity and space are limited, and subject to availability. Registrations are valid only during specific preview dates and hours. Entry is not guaranteed. Advance registration required. Valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass Card and valid photo ID required at check-in.
“Preview registration and entry are non transferable and void if sold or otherwise transferred. Operating hours, activities and locations are subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability. This preview registration does not require an additional Disney Park Pass Theme Park reservation to enter EPCOT on the day of your preview. Valid Theme Park admission required for Park entry and subject to applicable pass blockouts.”
Here’s a look at the Cosmic Rewind AP Preview email:
For whatever reason, only some Annual Passholders received this invite. It’s not because they’re the only ones eligible…that’s just how Disney’s communications system seems to work. Our batting average for anything from Walt Disney World, whether it be paper mailers, magnets, or emails, is about .500, at best.
Sarah received this Guardians of the Galaxy AP Preview email, I did not.
To register for the FREE Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Annual Passholder Previews at Walt Disney World, do the following, IN THIS ORDER:
- Open an incognito/private browser window
- Sign-in on DisneyWorld.com
Note that this link is sometimes temperamental. You may have to log-out of My Disney Experience, log back in, etc., in order to get it to work.
Here is the process for registering, along with a couple of important tips to avoid further headaches…
While you’re in the waiting room, we STRONGLY recommend that you copy the queue ID. That’s your unique code, and will allow you to keep your place in the queue if something happens. With Disney’s new virtual waiting room system, you should always do this–not just for this Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP preview.
In fact, something did happen to me last time I was attempting to register for an AP preview: Stitch ate my page. I’ve had the same thing happen on a couple of occasions when trying to buy tickets for Disneyland special events (there have also been times when I’ve needed to move from my desktop to phone). In all of those instances, I simply copy and pasted that link into a new browser tab and picked up where I left off. Phew.
Since we’re trying to get this up as quickly as possible so it’s of maximum value to all of you, we’re posting this while still in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP preview queue ourselves. We’ll update this with screenshots and more specific advice, details, and info once we complete the registration process.
For now, above and below are (updated) screenshots from the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure preview registration process, which was pretty much identical to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge previews before it. We’ll update with Cosmic Rewind screenshots in just a minute… the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP registration progress.
Here’s the first screen you should expect to encounter after the wait is over.
Pretty standard info to click through. Be sure the registered guest list shows anyone you want to join you.
Unfortunately for those of you who are not Annual Passholders, the sheer volume of preview dates means general public soft openings are pretty unlikely. It’s always possible there will be some scattered in there, but we highly doubt it.
Walt Disney World hasn’t done soft openings for a major attraction in several years–it’s all been these controlled, pre-registered previews for select guests.
Finally, other terms from Walt Disney World, per the registration page:
Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of the event or when event reaches capacity (whichever occurs first). Event experience and available offerings are subject to change without notice and advance registration is required. You have 5 minutes to complete your selection before availability is released. Once a request has been submitted, you will not be able to modify your reservation.
For each event, the calendar displays dates based on availability and the group size you entered.
How to Modify Your Selection BEFORE Completing Transaction
- To remove a Passholder from your group, please select “Back” to return to Step 1 and edit your Guest List.
- To remove an event from your list, please select “Release Reservation” under the Special Events section.
After finishing registration, here’s the message on the confirmation screen:
It’s save the galaxy time!
Join the Guardians of the Galaxy on this exciting chase to make the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration an awesome adventure!
As part of the EPCOT transformation, you’re invited to strap in, get your game face on and crank up your mixtape as you twist, turn and blast through an awesome intergalactic chase.
This family thrill attraction features the first ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the largest fully enclosed coasters in the world! A new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering—this coaster rotates 360 degrees so you can focus on the action.
As a special “thank you” to our Annual Passholder family, this is your chance to get a sneak peek on select days in May 2022.

We missed out, too! We already had a trip planned for May 12-19 so was thrilled. Lots of chatter about D23 preview. Were in queue for D23. We were not let in until 8 and 10 minutes after. Already sold out. That is OK we are DVC and AP holders! Like others, saw lots of “coming soon” but did not see anything from either AP or DVC until 8:10 today. The one day I did not check email! So I missed this post. And “now” email was during my meeting with my Honor Society students. Missed it–and then found out that time was for both AP and DVC–separate AP and DVC would have allowed us a chance! 🙁
Thanks Tom.
I appreciate you giving the info. I just didn’t get on computer until too late.
But I want to say I don’t think anyone is blaming you. (Your one reply sounded a bit defensive.) It is great that you came on and gave detailed instructions.
Thanks for your work.
Sorry that the tone came across that way–I wasn’t trying to be defensive nor do I think anyone is blaming me! 🙂
I know the problem here is Disney, people are upset at the company. I don’t blame them, either. There’s not a perfect system for this type of thing where no one gets left out, but this approach is also pretty far from ideal.
Anyone still not get their confirmation email? #askingforafriend #noitsactuallyforme #startingtogetnervous
Sorry to hear from so many people who missed out on registration for this. Totally understand why you all are upset.
I know it doesn’t help now, but this blog post with the registration link was up *before* Disney sent out emails. It was immediately posted to our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/disneytouristblog/) and sent to our newsletter subscribers (https://www.disneytouristblog.com/newsletter-2/).
I’m not saying we will give you a heads up 100% of the time, but I think our track record is pretty good. By contrast, Disney is very spotty with its communications. Consider signing up for notifications or the newsletter here. They’re free and you can always unsubscribe if we bug you too much. 😉
I agree with Kimberly and Speros. I kept seeing “info on DVC preview coming soon”, saw NOTHING for Passholders. And, of course, now the event is full. What disappoints me most is we are going during that time for my birthday (it’s been planned for a while) and I was hoping the preview would be the cherry on top. We seem to miss out on a lot of these type of events. And we only live a few hours away!! Very frustrating and disappointing.
I really wish they would give a set time when these would be available. Who has the time to be watching their email non-stop to see when it comes out when all we got was a “be on the look-out” vague message. Frustrating. Missing out once again on both AP and DVC.
Oh I set a filter on my Gmail to notify me of anything Disney related. Sucks being woken up at 3 in the morning for a spam message that has “Disney” in it but it was worth it. Got one for the 8th.
Missed it. Had a doctor appointment this morning, and was expecting today to be DVC registration and tomorrow passholder ….
We were already planning to be in Orlando most of the month of May and we leave on the 27th. This sucks, big time.
Thanks for this post even though I got the email I saw your email in my inbox first for this post LOL. Got one booked for May 9th!
I was able to make a reservation but it’s not showing up in my plans. Should it be visible in my plans?
I say BS ! message tells me as a DVC Member that my request is being “Processed” than the “RESPONSE” , Event FULL ! Now how can my request have been “being PROCESSED” if I didn’t have a chance, this is BS DISNEY ! Nice start to a waited (COVID) 2 year visit hopefully the DISNEY DISAPPOINTMENT doesn’t continue.
Once again those of us whom live on the west coast area were at a disadvantage for making reservations for a preview. I received the email at 6:10 AM. By the time I was able to log in this morning and check emails, the preview times were all gone for AP and DVC. I wish Disney would send these types of things out the day before so those of us whom aren’t up at the crack of dawn have a chance to register. To me Disney has been failing on customer service lately.
Tom
When can we expect to live vicariously through you and get a play by play of your experience saving the world?
Probably not a play by play, but we’ll have a ride review (spoiler-free, if necessary).
The bigger task for me is going to be updating all of our planning resources, itineraries, etc. to account for this addition. Regardless of how it reviews, it’s an absolute game changer for Epcot touring.
I’m guessing it won’t be before my May 8th time huh? I am susceptible to dizziness on some rides and the spins have me concerned. Me, like an idiot, decided to grab one of the first previews EVER. Could’ve had any date afterwards. But excited me grabbed the first I could. Duh me…. Oh well. Close eyes and hang on tight. It is nicer to know it should be somewhere between Everest and Slinky. I can do both of those…. generally.
Thanks, Tom! I got in for 5/10. Stupid question: What does Entry not guaranteed mean? I am registered but not guaranteed entry?
I’m not sure what entry not guaranteed is specifically (probably Disney making sure we don’t sue if we don’t get in) but on the page it says you don’t need a regular registration for Epcot for the preview. I got a bit nervous at that too. Epcot is booked solid on our date. But if you have your reservation, hopefully you’ll get to ride! …. although like many, I didn’t get a confirmation email either.
For those who haven’t received confirmation emails, I wouldn’t worry about it. For one thing, they’re often significantly delayed (IIRC, our Ratatouille one came like 8 hours later).
For another thing, I’m about 90% sure that in the past, Cast Members have been able to look up your reservations via their iPads and your MagicBand/AP/etc.
Just give it time! 🙂
… I’m hoping. No confirmation email and incognito mode doesn’t allow screen shots or printing.
We have SEVEN AP’s and not ONE of us got the PREVIEW email like Sarah did….thanks for taking our money once again for nothing Disney.
Thanks so much! Although the email from Disney saying “watch for the next email ” went to my inbox, the one with the link went to my spam! If I hadn’t seen your email I might have missed it. We happened to have booked our May trip months ago and are thrilled to be able to preview this ride!
The first date and time I chose said it was no longer available after I clicked it, so I have to cancel a dining reservation, but it’s worth i!
I received the email this morning (4/14) and clicked the link at roughly 8:45 am Central, and was booking my date by 9:10am Central. There were definitely already less dates than in your screenshots, but was able to book for Monday the 16th.
You know, I have to say this is the WORST thing that they have done to us an AP. First off, this is our FIRST ever post and maybe I’m just really frustrated, you were nice enough to share the DVC email they sent yesterday…>NO WHERE did it SAY that anything was coming AND they gave DVC a DAY’S NOTICE, then they go and RELEASE this to the AP at the SAME TIME…to me that’s just NOT FAIR at all….it was SNEAKY and that’s how they treat us loyal passholders….no heads up, NOTHING, just HEY…guess what we ALREADY told everyone on the DVC group about it so they’ll be ready to go, but for AP…SUPRISE you too and here we are 20 mins after the email comes nad we’re screwed….so unfair disney, so unfair…..
Absolutely agree. It’s like they’re trying to push passholders out…
For what it’s worth, Disney didn’t alert DVC members the day before. Someone on a message board reverse engineered the DVC queue-it link based on one used for a Remy preview and shared it.
I tried 4 minutes after you sent the email but no luck…. 🙁
Event is full.
Tried DVC as well…….sold out
