Scotland Booth Menu: Epcot Food & Wine Festival
The Scotland Global Marketplace at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is one of the newer countries at the event, but has been popular since its introduction. This post covers this booth’s menu, along with some thoughts on it.
It’s no coincidence that Scotland was added to Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival the same year Ron Swanson visited Scotland for the first time. He proclaimed it an exception to the terribleness of Europe–a place where God’s chosen elixirs are distilled, barreled, and prepared for consumption–Disney realized the error of its ways. If Scotland can get Ron Swanson choked up, it’s certainly good enough for the rest of us.
As for what I’m excited about here: literally everything. Lamb, potato, salmon–all favorites of mine, and it appears these dishes will be prepared in interesting and unique ways. The only thing about which I was on the fence was the dessert, but the name pushed me over the edge. Anything called “The Tipsy Laird” must be delicious.
With the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival now underway, we’ve updated this menu (and every menu) with food photos, thoughts on value for money, best use of Disney Dining Plan snack credits, and more.
Here’s what you will find on the Scotland marketplace booth’s food menu this year at Food & Wine Festival:
Traditional Scottish Lamb Stew with Neeps and Tatties – This was pretty good. I love lamb, and the distinct taste of lamb was definitely present here. I think in the scorching midday heat when I had this it was difficult to enjoy it to its fullest, but I suspect it’ll be a great option come the colder evenings in November.
Fresh Potato Pancake with Scottish Smoked Salmon and Herbed Sour Cream – This was delicious. I’ve never had anything quite like it, but the potato pancake here was packed with flavor, and the sour cream helped enhance it. I’m not totally sure about how the salmon that topped it went together with the pancake, but separately they were really good. Highly recommended.
The Tipsy Laird: Whiskey-soaked Cake with Lemon Cream and Toasted Oats – There are a lot of exceptional desserts at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. This is not one of them. Almost totally flavorless, despite a variety of ingredients.
We don’t intend upon sampling all of the beverages at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival (particularly because most are not unique to Epcot, so you can find a ton of info and reviews of them via Google), but here is the drink menu for Scotland:
- Citrus Thistle featuring Hendrick’s Gin
- Innis & Gunn Irish Whiskey Aged Stout
