Toy Story Land Opening in Summer 2018

As expected, Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will officially open in Summer 2018. This is anticipated to be the big draw at Walt Disney World next year, and it opening for the summer travel season is no surprise.

The announcement of the Summer 2018 opening is something we predicted prior to the D23 Expo, and that was exactly what Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, announced. Somewhat surprisingly, not much else was shared about Toy Story Land.

There was a cute or cheesy (depending upon one’s perspective) reconnaissance video by the toy soldiers and other Toy Story characters that gave some glimpses at Shanghai Disneyland and Walt Disney World construction on the Toy Story Lands, but that was about it…

Other than that, no real news to report beyond what was originally released with the Toy Story Land Announcement two years ago.

Personally, I would not be surprised to see Toy Story Land soft open in time for Easter/Spring Break 2018. I’m not ready to make that ‘bold’ prediction just yet, but it certainly appears that construction is quite far along.

While this Toy Story Land will differ considerably from the existing Toy Story Lands in Hong Kong and Paris, the premise remains the same: guests shrink to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with favorite Toy Story characters, including Woody and Buzz.

Walt Disney World’s Toy Story Land will feature two new themed attractions. The first of those is Slinky Dog Dash, which will be a family coaster attraction that zips, dodges, and dashes around the many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits.

Alien Swirling Saucers will also be a new attraction at Toy Story Land. It’s designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first “Toy Story” film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”

I know a lot of Walt Disney World fans are hyped for Toy Story Land, so I won’t rain on this particular parade with a “My Reaction” section on this bit of news. 😉
