When you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, it’s important to use a good mix of practical and emotional material. The practical stuff is the kind of posts you’ll find here, like our Walt Disney World Planning Guide or Disneyland Planning Guide. Info-heavy material giving you hacks to plan your vacation with tactical precision and maximize the ‘fun quotient’ of your visit. Unless you want your kids to view you as a drill sergeant, the emotional stuff is a nice way to balance out the strategical tips & tricks here.
While you’ll find some content here that will emotionally resonate, the fact is that’s not the goal of these posts. We try to remain objective, so you can weigh the pros and cons of the various Disney offerings, from hotels to restaurants to tickets and beyond. We aren’t making a sales pitch–we are trying to help you spend your money wisely and get the must bang for your buck.
However, the emotional side is important, too, so long as it’s tempered by reality. The Disney Parks Vacation Planning DVD is great for this perspective. It’s a free DVD with an overview of Walt Disney World or Disneyland (you choose), that offers beautiful footage of the parks, hotels, special events, and more. You can order your free copy by clicking the following banner:
It includes footage that will tug at your heart strings (we all know Disney is incredibly skilled at this sort of thing), and sometimes this emotional approach is just what’s needed.
In terms of vacation planning, the DVD offers very high-level info. If you are just starting to plan your first visit to Disneyland or Walt Disney World, this can be an excellent resource. It’s the sort of background knowledge that’s helpful before you dig into comprehensive material like that found on this site or unofficial guidebooks. Sometimes, we have a tendency to presume knowledge of certain things in our posts, and this DVD is a good primer to make sure you have that knowledge.
Even if you have visited numerous times, the DVD is still a great way to get hyped up for your next trip. We order this DVD every year (about how often a new version is released), and before each of our trips, we like to build anticipation by paging through our library of old souvenir books, watching the newest version of this DVD, and a handful of other specials we’ve collected over the years. While they aren’t incredibly helpful in terms of planning, they are fun, and that matters, too!
