Disney World Reopening Preview NOW FULL!

Walt Disney World has opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of the reopening of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Previews will take place July 9-10, 2020 and APs can select one day to attend. In this post, we’ll offer step by step registration screenshots and tips for completing the process.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this Annual Passholder preview filled up within a matter of minutes after opening, and the event dates are all now full for both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. If you were able to register, you should have received an email with details and a confirmation. If you were not able to register, it’s now too late.

We apologize if you received our heads up too late to register, but this is literally the fastest we’ve ever seen an event fill up. This is presumably due to the reduced capacity of the theme parks, which will be at 20-30% of normal numbers when the parks begin reopening on July 11, 2020. Our guess is that these events were capped well below that (maybe 5-10% of park capacity) to give Cast Members a chance to conduct trial operations in an even more relaxed environment. In any case, what follows is now of little practical value to you, unless you’re curious as to what the process looks like…

Unfortunately, many eligible guests don’t receive email heads up from Walt Disney World that they’re available to book. However, there’s some good news in this case, as have info for completing the registration process before it fills up. We’d strongly recommend registering ASAP and not delaying until you can confirm plans with family or friends–this event will fill up FAST.

Per Walt Disney World’s Annual Passes: Know Before You Go Info page, Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders will have the opportunity to register for a special preview at Magic Kingdom park or Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park on July 9 or 10.

Reservations are required and limited, and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. An eligible activated annual pass is required to register.

Here’s the Special Events Registration for Annual Passholders page that’ll greet you, with its text below:

If you’re interested in attending this special event and are an eligible Passholder, with an activated Annual Pass, please register online following the steps below. You don’t need the email—all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!

To register for Walt Disney World’s FREE Annual Passholder Reopening Previews at Magic Kingdom, we recommend doing the following, in this order:

  1. Open an incognito/private browser window
  2. Sign-in on DisneyWorld.com
  3. CLICK HERE!

From there, you can easily update your email address or remove a Guest by selecting “Remove” next to the Guest’s name listed under “Registered Guests.”

If you’d like to add Guests who also have a valid, activated annual pass that meets eligibility guidelines as of the date of the event(s), you may add them to your Family & Friends list within your My Disney Experience account. When you’re ready to confirm your party, select “Next.”

Please note: you can only add Guests from your Family & Friends list who have opted to share “All My Plans” with you. Only one reservation per Passholder is permitted.

For more information, please visit Invite Family & Friends to Plan and Share. Upon clicking next, here’s what you should see (with your own details replacing ours):

On that screen, you can choose one of the two dates, then select the time and agree to the terms of conditions before hitting submit.

You’ll need to complete this process within 5 minutes, otherwise the page will timeout and you’ll have to start over. Here’s what you should see upon hitting submit:

We strongly recommend taking a screenshot of this. The page indicates that you’ll be sent a copy of the confirmation page via email, but we have yet to receive that.

This page also indicates that additional details about check-in locations will be emailed to you 3-5 business days before the event.

There are a bunch of other details, rules, and things to know on that page, including the following:

What to Bring to the Event

  • Valid Annual Pass and a government-issued photo ID for each registered Passholder
  • One copy of your confirmation page
  • Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up)

Reservations

  • Advance registration required. Eligible activated Annual Pass is required to register.
  • Reservations for Passholder preview are only available to Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier Passholders.
  • Event capacity is limited. The number of registrations for this event is limited and subject to availability.
  • No modifications to reservations.
  • If a Passholder would like to register a Guest to accompany them, that Guest must also have a valid Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier annual pass, be listed on your Family & Friends list and have opted to share “All My Plans” with you.
  • Valid, activated eligible Walt Disney World Annual Pass and photo ID are required at check-in for each Passholder and each Passholder Guest.
  • Passholders with confirmed reservations will receive an additional email with details on how to check in for their reservation 3 to 5 business days in advance of their selected event date.
  • Registered Passholders may experience wait times for popular attractions during this event.
  • If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, Disney transportation will not be available for this limited event. You will need to provide your own transportation to the Theme Park parking lot.

We had no problems accessing the page and registering, but once the emails start hitting more inboxes, it’s entirely possible the page will slow to a crawl or be eaten by Stitch.

You may have to log-out of My Disney Experience, log back in, etc., use incognito/private browsing in order to get it to work. If you get hung up on one of the “Just a Moment…” screens (like the dreaded Pepto Pink Castle page), try again in a different browser window.

What usually happens on these registration days is that Walt Disney World IT makes tweaks to the system on the fly. Don’t be surprised if this advice is outdated by the time you read it. For the benefit of everyone, please post in the comments if you have success registering and whether you received an email. Additionally, if you’re having trouble registering, please read others’ comments before asking any questions. We’ll update the main post accordingly as we learn more!

YOUR THOUGHTS

Are you an Annual Passholder? Will you be attempting to visit Walt Disney World during the AP preview reopening period? Did you have any problems registering for your desired Annual Passholder preview date? A variety of viewpoints are welcomed here, but we will not tolerate insults, arguing, or politically-charged comments. Additionally, please do not debate the efficacy of health safety policies—all such comments (for, against, otherwise) will be deleted. Those arguments are played out and isn’t the appropriate forum for that. (Saying you will or will not visit in light of certain measures is fine.)
