Disney World Reveals Refurbishment Reopening Date for Yachtsman Steakhouse Signature Restaurant
Walt Disney World has finally confirmed a reopening date for Yachtsman Steakhouse, which follows a multi-month “refresh” of the Signature Dining Experience. Here’s the latest on one of our favorite Walt Disney World restaurants, including commentary on the possibility of reimagined interiors and a redone menu.
As basic background, Yachtsman Steakhouse is located (unsurprisingly) at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, which is within walking distance of World Showcase at EPCOT as well as Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This project is the latest in a bigger-picture overhaul that has involved everything from guest rooms (see Review: Refined Redone Rooms at WDW’s Most Sophisticated Resort) to the porte cochere.
Beyond the restaurant refurbishment, there’s currently ongoing visible exterior maintenance work lasting through late 2026 at Yacht Club and through 2027 at Beach Club. We last took a look at this project a couple of months ago: Major Construction at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts During Year-Plus Refurbishment Project. Suffice to say, a sizable area of the sister resorts are currently behind scaffolding.
Now let’s turn to the restaurants. Walt Disney World previously announced that Yachtsman Steakhouse will receive a refurbishment during this multi-year, multi-phase overhaul of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
Yachtsman Steakhouse closed back on May 11, 2026 for a refresh, with reopening expected by August 2026. According to a bulletin at the time, guests may see or hear daytime work until the refurbishment is complete. Prior to this, no specific opening date had been announced.
Walt Disney World still hasn’t announced a reopening date for Yachtsman Steakhouse, but they have indirectly revealed when the restaurant will return.
Starting August 28, 2026, Yachtsman Steakhouse has operating hours (Dinner – 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM) on the DisneyWorld.com website.
Additionally, Advance Dining Reservations for Yachtsman Steakhouse are now open beginning August 28, 2026. This seems pretty conclusive to us that the target reopening date following the restaurant’s refurbishment is August 28th.
Note that, as with all refurbishments, this is subject to change. That date is still nearly two months away, and project delays are always possible. Also possible is that Walt Disney World has calendered a conservative reopening date, and Yachtsman Steakhouse will be able to soft open a few days ahead of that.
Our expectation is that the August 28, 2026 date will end up being accurate or within one day of the restaurant’s return. Late August is firmly the off-season at Walt Disney World, and unless there’s a big convention at Crescent Lake the weekend before that, there’s really no need to bring Yachtsman back online earlier. Having it open that Friday or maybe Thursday should more than suffice.
We would also anticipate Walt Disney World making a formal announcement about this one. This seems to be a more consequential update than what nearby Crew’s Cup Lounge received, so it seems likely a new menu, first look inside, or something else will be released in the months to come.
Prior to this, Crew’s Cup Lounge quietly reopened back on May 10th.
I stopped in a few weeks later for the first time, and the only change I noticed was new upholstery. That’s an old photo above–I didn’t take any new ones since the lounge was slammed. The material changes are navy blue cushions to the chairs in the middle, and brighter backs in the booths. Some nautical throw pillows were also added.
The worst case scenario with Crew’s Cup did not come to fruition, thankfully. To the contrary, the pops of color liven up the place a little bit while still maintaining its sophisticated sensibility. The refresh was subtle and tasteful to the point that most guests won’t even notice the changes. They’re very much true-to-theme, and did not make the space bland or boring. Still lots of rich woods, details in the decor, etc.
My biggest complaint, honestly, is that the menu wasn’t given a shot in the arm. Maybe that’s still to come once Yachtsman Steakhouse reopens!
Other dining options remain available around the connected Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, including Ale & Compass, Beaches & Cream, Cape May Cafe, as well as quick-service dining at Beach Club Marketplace and the Market at Ale & Compass.
For Signature Dining, there’s also Flying Fish over at BoardWalk, and of course, the aforementioned Cake Bake Shop. There’s also a wealth of options inside EPCOT’s World Showcase, over at the Skyliner resorts, and inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, all of which are easily accessible from Y&BC.
Then there are the dozen-plus restaurants over at the Swolphin, including the new Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina. Given that it’s also a steakhouse, that’s the most direct replacement for Yachtsman Steakhouse during the closure (although Flying Fish also serves an iconic steak).
The minimal changes made to Crew’s Cup Lounge offer me mild reassurance that Disney will take a similar “don’t fix what isn’t broken” approach to the refurbishment of Yachtsman Steakhouse. If the refresh is similarly subtle, the outcome could be fantastic. (What follows is our original commentary about this refurbishment.)
Much of the Crew’s Cup style is carried over into the adjacent Yachtsman Steakhouse. The Signature Restaurant has a distinct New England nautical style; its dining rooms are light and airy, punctuated with rich woods, knotty-pine beams, warm lighting, and nautical touches.
Some fans find the interior design of Yachtsman Steakhouse to appear dated, and view the refurbishment overdue. They’re not entirely wrong that Yachtsman Steakhouse has elements that are showing their age, but we disagree to the extent that anyone is suggesting it needs a top-to-bottom overhaul.
Yachtsman Steakhouse is on theme, and has a delightfully personable and warm atmosphere. I would add that this type of coziness, charm and comfort (the Three Cs) are starting to come back into style, so it would be a mistake for Walt Disney World to remove all of that and make Yachtsman Steakhouse more akin to Ale & Compass.
The argument could be made that the interior is now old enough that it looks dated; like the last decade’s flavor of modern minimalism. By contrast, maximalist design is making a comeback. This is arguably evident in the end result of the Crew’s Cup refurbishment. Were that done ~5 years ago, it would’ve ended up looking like Ale & Compass (in a bad way). Instead, it emerged from the refurbishment with a design that is slightly “busier” than before.
Here’s hoping that Walt Disney World purposefully chose the word “refresh” to describe the Yachtsman Steakhouse project, and the multi-month project will be measured and restrained. I could certainly get behind some fresh carpet, a restoration of the woods, colorful upholstery in the seats, and other fun nautical details.
My other worry at this point is that the approach of the steakhouse will fundamentally change. To be clear, I’m not averse to a menu refresh at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Like Crew’s Cup Lounge, I think this could use a shot in the arm with an expanded menu and new dishes.
With many major refurbishment projects of this nature, Disney has repositioned the redone restaurants to aim more upmarket. It would make sense to transform Yachtsman Steakhouse into something more chic, trendy, and expensive given Yacht Club’s status serving the conventioneer crowd, which makes up a huge slice of the hotel’s business. This would position it similar to nearby Bourbon Steak at the Swolphin, making it more appealing to casual visitors with expense accounts to burn.
We love that Yachtsman Steakhouse is one of the few unpretentious Signature Restaurants. You’ll see a range of patrons here, from families to well-dressed convention guests to older locals who have been dining at Yachtsman for decades. So an update would be nice, but I hope it’s one that threads the needle and doesn’t fundamentally change the look, atmosphere, or personality of Yachtsman Steakhouse.
Ultimately, I hope that my fears about the Yachtsman Steakhouse project ends up being completely unfounded. That the interior refresh is expertly-executed with a focus on attention to detail and thematic integrity, without compromising on character.
If the same approach is taken here as was at Crew’s Cup Lounge, it’ll be a huge win. That bar’s subtle and tasteful refresh certainly has us reassured! Now here’s hoping the lounge and Signature Restaurant both get new menus that are actual improvements and not just thinly-veiled upcharges.
There’s a reason Yachtsman Steakhouse is on our list of the 26 Best Restaurants at Walt Disney World in 2026, and Crew’s Cup is one of the Best Bars at Walt Disney World. Hopefully both maintain their places on those lists. Better yet, I’d love to see Crew’s Cup make the cut on the overall list, where it would’ve been a decade ago.
We generally love Yacht Club and find it to be an underrated hotel, especially following the wonderful room redo. The resort has a certain air of stateliness and sophistication, with rich woods, dark colors, leather furniture, antique decor, and an abundance of yachting decor to reinforce the theme. We’ll keep you posted on what changes with the refurbished or redone restaurants.

It’s been a difficult time for Crescent Lake steaks, with the refurbishment of Yachtsman and the temporary closure of Bourbon due to fire (which I was there for…). Fortunately Flying Fish’s New York Strip has been successfully delivering triple duty.
I certainly hope they don’t do anything trendy with the decor or menu. Your commentary gives me hope.
