Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ Opening Date, Food & Drink Menu, Photo & Video Tour
Walt Disney World has officially announced the Spring 2023 opening date of Toy Story Land’s new Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant. Additionally, we have menu details and food photos from the table service dining option that’s coming to Hollywood Studios this month. (Updated March 14, 2023.)
For those who are unfamiliar with it, the backstory behind Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant is that Andy and all of his toys are inviting guests to participate in the fun of a backyard barbecue. However, we do not mean the walk-around variety when referring to Andy’s toys. Toy Story Roundup Rodeo Restaurant is NOT be a character dining experience–Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the other characters will continue doing meet & greets around Toy Story Land.
Instead, this is a regular all-you-care-to-enjoy, family-style restaurant with an art style similar to that of both Toy Story Mania and Slinky Dog Dash. Andy has built a rodeo restaurant consisting of Woody’s Roundup toys and other playthings. To create the restaurant, he cut and taped cardboard boxes together to create a new rodeo arena. While some pieces are western-themed, Andy really just used whatever he had laying around–it’s a broad assortment of toys assembled to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere.
Walt Disney World has officially announced that Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ opens on March 23, 2023 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Advance Dining Reservations demand is going to be sky-high for Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant and you’ll want to book reservations ASAP. Regardless of how good or bad the cuisine or themed design ends up being, this will be the most popular restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because Toy Story.
March 14, 2023 Update: Walt Disney World has shared a full tour of Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ in the video above. This reveals the most comprehensive look inside the restaurant we’ve seen yet.
I haven’t exactly been this project’s biggest “hype man” and yet I’ll admit to being pleasantly surprised by this. Perhaps it’s a matter of low expectations, but I was envisioning a cavernous room without much to break up the space and a bunch of cardboard cutouts affixed to the walls of an otherwise empty warehouse.
In actuality, it’s very similar to the queue of Toy Story Mania. It is cardboard cutouts, but there’s more depth and detail to them. The space in the dining room is actually broken up nicely, and the walls aren’t simple flats–there’s dimensionality to everything, and a lot more than I expected.
To be sure, Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ will not be for everyone, nor will it compete with the trio of top-themed restaurants at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But it looks like a fitting addition to Toy Story Land that’s in keeping with the rest of the land. I’ll withhold further praise until seeing it in person, but it seems like Imagineering understand the assignment and did a good job. It looks nice, for what it is.
On another note, Advance Dining Reservations are now available for Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ. This is going to be the most competitive ADR for Disney’s Hollywood Studios going forward, and probably one of the most coveted ones in all of Walt Disney World.
Suffice to say, you will want to be up early and have a plan of attack if you’re hoping to score ADRs for the initial opening period. See our Top 10 Tips for Booking Difficult Advance Dining Reservations, specifically numbers 9, 8, 6, plus 5 and 4 if you’re booking further into the future.
Compounding the popularity of all things Toy Story is the fact that Roundup Rodeo BBQ is opening on March 23, 2023, which is during the heart of spring break season at Walt Disney World. It’s just after local school breaks conclude, but it’s still before Easter–the peak week of spring break.
Honestly, that doesn’t matter that much. Roundup Rodeo Restaurant could open during the slowest week of 2023, and it’ll still book up in minutes. This restaurant will likely be on par with Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT in terms of demand. And that’s despite it not having a highly-themed or immersive component. Toy Story Land is incredibly popular, and people love barbecue.
A unique collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney World Food & Beverage, this one-of-a-kind dining experience will be the first Toy Story table service restaurant in the world. Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant will offer all-you-can-eat barbecue cuisine, served family-style.
With the Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ opening date out of the way, let’s take a look at the menu…
Start with the Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits served with sweet pepper jelly.
While these might very well be delicious, keep in mind that Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ is all-you-can-eat, so you don’t want to eat too much “filler” before the many meats arrive!
Next up, more filler: salads. Here are the options for you to graze:
- Tomato Salad: Tomatoes, cucumbers, and pickled red onions tossed in a white balsamic vinaigrette and garnished with fresh dill (plant-based)
- Rex’s Romaine and Kale Salad: Romaine and kale mixed with green apples, pumpkin seeds, and dried cranberries tossed with green goddess dressing
- Watermelon Salad: Cubed watermelon garnished with freshly torn mint leaves (plant-based)
Enjoy a hearty serving of house-smoked meats at Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ, including:
- Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs: Fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, slow-cooked for hours in our onsite smokehouse
- Buttercup’s Beef Brisket: Hand-sliced beef brisket, smoked then slow-cooked to juicy perfection
- There’s a Sausage in My Boot: Spiced pork sausage fire-grilled over live oak to give it an added kick
- BBQ Chicken – with Style! Chicken brined for 48 hours, rubbed with our secret backyard BBQ spice and smoked to tender juiciness
I misread the first one as Dr. Evil Smoked Ribs, and now that’s the crossover film I never even knew I needed.
Savory plant-based offerings are available upon request at Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ for vegetarians and vegans:
- Slow-smoked Cauliflower topped with sweet harissa drizzle and crunchy walnut gremolata
- Oven-roasted “Bratwurst” that is tender and juicy, sliced to perfection
- Impossible “Rib Chop” seasoned with spices, then roasted and glazed with sweet BBQ sauce and skewered on a sugar cane “bone”
All entreés at Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ are served with an assortment of sweet, traditional, and spicy BBQ sauces.
Choose four of the following sides for the table:
- The Married Spuds: Loaded potato barrels drizzled with green goddess dressing, cheese sauce, and seasoned BBQ spices
- Force Field Fried Pickles: Jumbo pickle spears coated with a dill-flavored breading and fried to perfection
- Slinky Doooooooooog Mac & Cheese: Spiral pasta in a creamy house-made cheese sauce topped with crumbled cheddar crackers
- Buckin’ Baked Beans: A traditional BBQ picnic favorite (plant-based)
- Cowpoke Corn on the Cob: Grilled and seasoned with a chili-lime spice blend, cilantro, cotija cheese, and lime juice
- Mean Old Potato Salad: Homestyle with red-skinned potatoes
- Veggie Slaw: Crunchy shredded veggie slaw that is a summertime favorite! (plant-based)
- Campfire-roasted Vegetables: A variety of roasted seasonal vegetables (plant-based)
Interesting that you have to choose four for the table. I guess Sarah and I will be booking separate tables when we go! (Not really–I already know which four I want. Spoiler alert: none of the plant-based ones. This is a BBQ joint, come on!)
Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ’s chuckwagon desserts offer a sweet take on the BBQ picnic classics. Choose from a selection for the table:
- Cupcake à la Forky: Forky is up to something sweet! A classic chocolate cake with a gooey chocolate ganache center topped with velvety graham cracker buttercream and a sugar cookie
- Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake: An iconic creamy dessert that balances the tanginess of the cheesecake with the natural sweetness of blueberries and lemon
- Billy’s Chocolate Silk Pie: Layers of graham cracker crust and silky chocolate mousse topped with chantilly cream
- Goat’s Apple Pie: A picnic classic! Tart apples and warm pie spices balance perfectly with the creamy sweet filling under a crumble crust
- Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry Pie: With its silky sweet peaches and tartness of strawberries, this dessert is a fruit-centric delight! (plant-based)
An assortment of craft cocktails and nonalcoholic beverages will have you feeling nostalgic for backyard picnics on warm summer days.
Grown-up Craft Cocktails:
- Snake Eye Margarita: Inspired by a summertime BBQ featuring watermelon, smoke, and a bit of spice!
- Rum Punch: Rum punch with vibrant flavors of passion fruit and pineapple finished with a smoky spiced garnish
- Chocolate with a Grown-up Twist: A blend of chocolate rum, horchata liqueur, cocoa, and flavors of toasted marshmallow
- Frozen Peanut Butter & Jelly: A fun frozen twist on the classic peanut butter & jelly featuring peanut butter whiskey
- Whiskey Lemonade: A fresh take on a strawberry lemonade made with Tennessee whiskey and Italian bitter aperitif
- The Rodeo Mule: A classic “patio sipper,” this mule mixes vodka with fresh juices and ginger beer
A selection of beer, hard cider, and wines by the glass are available.
Nonalcoholic offerings:
- Molly’s Frozen Iced Tea: A frosty concoction with iced tea and citrus flavors
- Frozen Cocoa: A frozen blend of cocoa and vanilla topped with miniature marshmallows
- Partysaurus Tex: Strawberry lemonade is even more fun when you garnish it with gummy worms!
Walt Disney World has not yet released pricing for Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ.
If we had to guess based on pricing at Space 220 and Be Our Guest Restaurant, we’d expect adult pricing to be $55 and kids pricing to be $29. It could be as high as $39 for kids and $59 for adults. Anything higher than that would surprise us. Although it’s “only” BBQ (as opposed to those more ambitious prix fixe menus), Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ is all-you-can-eat cuisine, served family-style–so there will be premium pricing for that.
In terms of additional background (that you probably already know if you’ve been following the prolonged construction of this Toy Story Land addition), Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant is located to the right of what’s currently the entrance of Toy Story Land, behind the giant Woody figure and land’s marquee (you can see construction walls in the photo below).
In our most recent construction update, we noted that construction workers have been putting the finishing touches on the exterior facade of the restaurant. We’re starting to see visible signs of this, as the restaurant marquee and other details have been installed of the exterior of the building, which is now behind construction scrims. It’s progressed significantly since we shared that–the facade is now coming alive and starting to resemble the concept art at the top of the post.
This new table service restaurant should help address many of the issues we’ve had with Toy Story Land. It’s currently pretty miserable during the summer heat or daily rain showers due to the lack of shade or shelter. Giving guests even a temporary reprieve from the sun or storms in a place that isn’t the restrooms would be nice. So from a purely functional or role-filling perspective, Toy Story Roundup BBQ Restaurant is a good addition.
The menu at Toy Story Roundup BBQ Restaurant actually looks better than I was expecting, although I have to admit that my expectations were pretty low. I figured this would basically be a table service version of Regal Eagle’s Distinctly Patriotic Smokehouse: A Salute to All Foods, But Mostly Barbecued Meats. It looks like a step up from that. (Granted, these are stock photos and what’s actually served could look considerably different.)
Design and ambition-wise, Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant does absolutely nothing for me. It looks mostly phoned in, but honestly, I feel that way about much of the various Toy Story Lands. Obviously, I am in the minority on this–I get that. I just think that Toy Story is thematic low-hanging fruit, and could be so much better than what Imagineering has delivered to date.
This feels like more of the same on that front. Not that I want to see yet another Toy Story Land pop up somewhere, but I really wish Imagineering were given the budget to do one of these lands proper justice so fans see just how much better this concept could actually be if its full creative potential were reached.
Otherwise, about my only thought about Toy Story Roundup BBQ Restaurant is, “why not have an elaborately themed Pizza Planet instead?!” I’m guessing the answer to that is storytelling consistency. My retort to that response would be: “who cares.” Seriously, it’s not like Toy Story Land at DHS is the pinnacle of themed design.
This is not Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge…break the rules! It would be pretty easy to concoct a storytelling contrivance to explain away the presence of Pizza Planet in “Andy’s Backyard,” if Imagineering truly wanted to build the better restaurant. But that ship has sailed, so no need to continue fixating on it.
In any case, we’re just glad that Toy Story Roundup Rodeo BBQ will finally open on March 23, 2023. Our Advance Dining Reservations are already booked, so stay tuned for a full restaurant review coming soon!
But don’t want on one before booking your own ADRs–as noted above, this restaurant will book up 60+ days ahead of time! Both of us will be monitoring ADR news like hawks in the coming weeks and will give you a heads up ASAP if/when availability live. You can subscribe to our free email newsletter for instant alerts.

My hope is that the BBQ don’t taste like the cardboard the outside looks like it was made with
I hope there will be a children’s section to this menu as my grandchildren won’t eat most of this food.
How many disney restaurants have a kids menu? I think easily 98 percent if not more. I believe you don’t have a lot to worry about
The food looks better than I thought; I guess I wasn’t paying attention and missed the all-you-care-to-eat part if it was announced previously.
In reality, a well themed Pizza Planet is going to feel like a Chuck E. Cheese knock-off, and it’s hard to knock Disney for opening another BBQ restaurant when there’s 3 or 4 places to get pizza inside HS alone. Like Adam, I’d push for a Mom’s Sandwiches and More that would be exactly that, sandwiches and basic dishes like one of the older Plaza Restaurant menus. It could work as a well-themed restaurant or continuing the card-board board cut-out theme, but given that the food would be like the Plaza Restaurant I just don’t know that it would actually be popular. (That’s what *I* want to add to HS, though.)
I’m disappointed that they don’t have something called “There’s A STEAK In My Boot.” Looks like it might be alright, though. But table service at DHS is pretty low priority for us – too many other things to do there.
This is brilliant.
I agree that the execution of bringing a Toy Story Land to life could have been so much better. I have been only once I admit, but I was totally under whelmed and left wondering what the big deal is. Same feelings for Slinky Dog Dash – fun sure – but does it warrant the crazy long lines?
Maybe this will take a little demand from Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, but probably not. Of course, now this adds a new dilemma: which one to pick for lunch, Sci-Fi or the new BBQ? We usually only spend one day at DHS so it’s one or the other. We budget (both dollars and stomach space) only one big meal per day.
I believe most people are like you there at hs. If they are going to splurge for 2 ts meals it’s at epcot. With one more ts meal it should take some attention from the other restaurants or at least that’s what I hope
For older people like my wife and I, an all you can eat restaurant is the last place we want to go to. I can live with the BBQ food, but it would have been better if it was similar to the American Smokehouse in Epcot. You only order as much or as little as you want. Maybe this will take some of the load that overwhelms the nearby food locations making it easier to get food at those locations.
I’m with you on the all-you-care-to-eat thing. I hate that so much of the food is just going to get thrown away after you take a tiny scoop. It feels like a waste of food *and* a waste of money. I don’t love toting leftovers around the parks, but I’ll do it at a table service where they will let you! I get why Disney does AYCTE, I just don’t love it…
“Storytelling consistency” here just makes Andy look like a giant NERD. What 10 yr old boy would use that collection of toys to play restaurant??
I’m sure you know but there used to be a pizza planet in Disneyland Paris no? Ever been to it? Too bad it’s closed though.
I think the restaurant concept is fine (not great, not terrible) but I don’t really get the argument that this will address the land’s lack of shade/shelter in any meaningful way. As noted above this will be an elite ADR and thus only the lucky few who score that ADR will plan their visits to DHS at whatever time there were able to score a month or two in advance (i.e, no way to strategize your visit based on weather). Unless a good number of tables are set aside for walk-ups, the average family hanging out in Toy Story land won’t be able to say “ooh, looks like rain, let’s go eat some BBQ while the storm passes” (and even so, they’d be competing with hundreds of others with the same idea). I suppose there’s a chance an indoor waiting area might be a place to huddle to escape a downpour but I’m not sure that will be available/tolerated – thinking about places like Space 220 where you need proof of a reservation just to get in the front door.
It has another potential positive. The restaurant scene at Hollywood studios the week of the 9th the restaurants had almost zero availability we got seated at pt 10 minutes before close. Hopefully even I’d you don’t want to eat at the toy story restaurant maybe and Hopefully it will open the other restaurants up some.
it would be nice to have a nice large walk-up awning counter for quick meals, but lots of shaded seating. families need some room in that land.
I’m clearly in the minority because I am super glad about this being BBQ for two reasons: one, I am tired of pizza, and two, I love BBQ! But more than that, I can see some upsides. I feel like too many people cram into Galaxy’s Edge because it has slightly more dining options than Toy Story Land did, and it’s closer to TSL than anything else. This might help move some of the crowds out of Galaxy’s Edge. And we already also have PizzaRizzo’s for a pizza place. Do we really need another one?
Where is Woody in that last picture?!
I wonder if this restaurant will be added to the Fantasmic Dining Package as an option
Another BBQ restaurant at Disney World. Yippee.
I guess it’s good to have more food options in Toy Story Land. However, this isn’t really my choice of food. I can eat this anywhere, anytime. (Of course I also grew up in Europe, so it’s not my traditional cuisine and doesn’t have the same comfort.) Will certainly have to try it out to see the theming, and for the desserts which sound good. But unless there’s something I’m missing, it’ll probably be a one-time visit for us.
I agree, Pizza Planet would have been much better. I’m a 100% stickler for keeping Galaxy’s Edge as pure as possible, but agree it doesn’t really matter with Toy Story Land… just have a “transition” walkway that explains the move to Pizza Planet. People are never going to take Toy Story as seriously as Star Wars.
Sorry, went into a sugar coma looking at the stock photo of those “drinks.”
This looks about as good as I thought it would. Honestly, table service BBQ already feels strange to me. I understand adult fans being a little underwhelmed by another BBQ restaurant, but from Disney’s perspective I totally get it. The restaurants with more ambitious cuisines tend to be less popular with guests, and putting this in an area that specifically appeals to young children means it needs to have a broadly appealing cuisine to accommodate those finicky eaters. Would you really be any more excited by a Pizza Planet?
Side note: I *love* good BBQ, but I’m now old enough to question if an all you can eat smoked meat restaurant in the Disney park with the highest proportion of thrill rides is the best idea.
Of course my not pick from the photos is why does all the meat have to touch??? I don’t want my pork to taste like chicken and the chicken to taste like brisket. Why yea, I do have divided plates for thanksgiving!
I too hope there will be more choices forthcoming for the children’s menu. The meat selection announced may be ok for some kids but, certainly not for all. I can’t justify paying $29 for mac and cheese and dessert for each of my 2 kids.
So….. More BBQ at Disney World. Guess Magic Kingdom needs it next. As of now, Magic Kingdom guests have to go all the way over to Wilderness Lodge for some BBQ!
I mean… I get it. I’m a meat-loving red-blooded American, I love barbeque. And I guess Disney knows their demographic, knows that BBQ will be popular in each park. But still, I just feel like it’s getting stale.
There is pizza in every park, but apart from Via Napoli, you can’t actually find good pizza in any park or resort. So yes, Pizza Planet serving true NY style pizza could be a big hit. (I wonder if Disney is held back from doing good pizza because of the difficulty of a huge markup… You can’t charge $60 per person for a pizza dinner).
And beyond that, there are lots of other creative options that you can incorporate into either Hollywood or a Toy Story motif. How about reimagined childhood classics? Adult re-imagined versions of Mac N Cheese and Chicken Nuggets, for example.
Or, want to focus on the “backyard” theme? Go full “Sci Fi Drive In” with the theming and re-create backyard picnics.
So we get yet another BBQ restaurant at Disney, with some Toy Story decorations tossed around. The dining/marketing people got together and said, “our BBQ restaurants do really well.. let’s have another and… Toy Story!”
Looks good and I cant wait to go but I wish they had a kids menu. My son is a super picky eater and its hard to stomach the price when all he will eat is maybe some mac-n-cheese. I’m also getting a bit tired of BBQ foods.
