Refer to that for all of the latest news and everything you need to know–it supersedes this.

While Disneyland hasn’t released full details, we now have a pretty good picture of what this year’s Halloween season will entail (see our full 2023 Guide to Halloween at Disneyland Resort for everything beyond Oogie Boogie Bash), with spook season kicking off on the first Friday of September 2023, just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

As is typical, the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash won’t get going until a little after the rest of the Halloween Time festivities and fun. The good news–if you like the event, bad news if you don’t–is that Oogie Boogie Bash starts earlier than ever and with a total of 25 event dates for Halloween 2023, which is 2 more nights than last year…

In comparing 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash ticket prices to last year, it appears that almost every date is either $5 or $10 more expensive than last year. Previously, the price range was $129 to $179, versus $134 to $189 this year.

When it comes to all things Disneyland, price increases are a fact of life. Given the record-setting pace that all dates of last year’s Oogie Boogie Bash sold out, we honestly were bracing ourselves for worse/higher price increases than $5 to $10. It’s obviously very expensive, but it seems like there was a lot of unsatisfied demand last year, and we feared Disneyland Resort would push prices to $149 on the low end and $199 on the high end. So it’s not as bad as it could’ve been, at least?

Tickets will go on sale for the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party beginning on June 27, 2023 (no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific). On this date, a limited amount of Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on pre-sale for Magic Key holders.

Tickets for the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party go on sale to the general public beginning June 29, 2023 (no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific).

This closely parallels what happened last year, albeit with the official announcement coming approximately two weeks earlier.

Tickets went on sale for last year’s Oogie Boogie Bash beginning on June 28 as a pre-sale exclusively for Magic Key holders. On June 30, the general public was able to purchase Oogie Boogie Bash tickets.

Last year, there was also a multi-hour virtual queue to purchase tickets on both June 28 and June 30. It took us about 4 hours to purchase our party tickets on June 28. Some Magic Key holders had shorter waits, others reported longer times. The queue also crashed once or twice, and had issues with payment processing while we were checking out.

All of this is about par for the course, and a good predictor of what to expect for 2023. Last year, some dates sold out within days of going on sale, and ALL dates were gone by July 3, at which point tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash totally sold out.

With Magic Key AP sales having resumed a few times since then and pent-up demand starting to exhaust itself, it’s possible that SoCal locals won’t be as inclined to purchase 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash tickets as they were last year. Conversely, it’s also possible that a higher number of Magic Key Passholders will mean more Oogie Boogie Bash dates selling out during the presale period.

Basically, it’s impossible to know what will happen and we wouldn’t recommend gambling on a poorly-informed prediction. We will certainly be buying our 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash tickets ASAP, and strongly recommend you do the same if you know you want to attend this year’s event. Even if demand isn’t as strong this year, the Halloween parties will likely sell out by late August or early September 2023 at the latest. That’s what has happened every previous year!

The number of tickets available for each 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party event date are limited, and event tickets are valid only for the specific event date and hours. Parking fees are not included in the ticket price. No discounts will be offered to this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash.

Tickets must be purchased online and are not available on the day of the event. There’s a limit 8 tickets per person, per event date. Tickets are not required for Guests ages 2 and under. Tickets are nonrefundable and may not be resold or transferred for commercial purpose.

Costumes are subject to Disney guidelines and should not be obstructive or offensive–view the special event costume guidelines for restrictions. Halloween Party attendees will receive a souvenir credential and event guide, and unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass digital photos taken during the party. (Credentials and guides are limited to one per ticketed person.)

In addition to dates and ticket prices, Disneyland has also announced additional details about the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party. First, it’ll once again include early admission to Disney California Adventure beginning at 3:00 PM—no theme park reservation required.

The 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will also feature Immersive Treat Trails. Throughout these, you’ll be able to collect goodies—M&Ms, SKITTLES, SNICKERS and other Halloween favorites—along trails offering Halloween-inspired music, fun decor and the Villains themselves, as they oversee the festivities from their thrones.

In addition to these walk-through encounters highlighted by villains, there will be other character meet & greets with popular and rare characters, some of whom will be dressed in their own Halloween costumes.

The headline entertainment for the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is the Frightfully Fun Parade. This spirited masquerade cavalcade features Mickey and Minnie Mouse, plus popular Disney villains.

There’s also Mickey’s Trick & Treat–watch Mickey and friends as they headline a live show filled with not-so-scary Halloween tales. In addition to that, the popular Villains Grove will return–explore Redwood Creek Challenge Trail like never before as the worlds of Disney Villains unfold via ethereal scenes replete with hauntingly beautiful color, sound, light and shadow.

For the second straight year, World of Color – Villainous will not be presented during Oogie Boogie Bash. At this point, it’s safe to say that this Halloween nighttime spectacular has been permanently retired. It reportedly garnered very mixed reviews and low guest satisfaction scores.

Ultimately, we’re looking forward to the 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash. We really enjoyed the first few years of this Halloween Party, and were really hoping that Disneyland would build on that success and scale it up for this year, as it still falls short as compared to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in every regard except characters (which are very, very good at Oogie Boogie Bash).

In particular, fleshing out the parade and adding one more piece of cornerstone entertainment–ideally, a stage show or another new Halloween edition of World of Color–would really help elevate the event. Of course, demographics differ between the California and Florida parks, so perhaps this is exactly what most Disneyland locals want from the event. There’s also the reality that Disneyland does more for Halloween as a whole, and most of that is included in regular admission.

One final thing to note is that Disneyland probably still has a surprise or two up its sleeves. Last year, the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and other villains were last-minute additions that were announced after tickets had already sold out. That’s pretty common–Disneyland often adds characters to Oogie Boogie Bash with promotional budgets from Disney+ or the movie studios.
