Disney Cruise Line Shares Cryptic Clue Pointing to New York City Return & Other News

Disney Cruise Line posted a new teaser image with cryptic clues that seem to point towards returning homeport announcements as part of a big reveal coming tomorrow, August 25, 2026. Here are full details, along our predictions for what’ll be unveiled.

Disney shared the below image on its DCL social media accounts, featuring a graphic of a Disney Cruise Line ship beneath a starry sky and six coordinates. The cryptic part is that they’re incomplete, listing only latitudes. The caption teases: “Let’s coordinate to meet back up tomorrow for a big announcement…”

Here are the latitudes on the image–see if you can solve the “mystery” yourself:

• 40° 46.3′ N
• 18° 27′ N
• 29° 18.2′ N
• 32° 43.3′ N
• 26° 5.4′ N
• 28° 24′ N

Here’s the full graphic that Disney Cruise Line shared, in case you want to try to decipher anything else that might be buried in the image (I didn’t spot anything):

The six latitudes roughly align with current or past Disney Cruise Line homeport cities:

1. 40° 46.3′ N — New York City
2. 18° 27′ N — San Juan, Puerto Rico
3. 29° 18.2′ N — Galveston, Texas
4. 32° 43.3′ N — San Diego, California
5. 26° 5.4′ N — Fort Lauderdale, Florida
6. 28° 24′ N — Port Canaveral, Florida

It’s our expectation that these six United States cities are announced as homeports for Disney Cruise Line in the upcoming season. This news wouldn’t be coming out of left field, especially since Disney and the Port of San Diego already extended their homeport partnership, and announced Double the Disneyland & Sea Cruises for Next 5 Years!

Then bigger news came one month ago, when Cruise NYC updated the webpage for the Manhattan Cruise Terminal Schedule and added Disney Cruise Line under “Parent Company,” while also listing several ships (that part cannot possibly be correct).

No sailings appeared the calendar, but that leak sure seemed like some had prematurely populated the schedule. Disney Cruise Line returning to New York City feels like an inevitability, given both the population of that port city and DCL’s ever-increasingly fleet size.

A similar leak occurred over a year earlier, when Rodger Rees, Port of Galveston Director and CEO, “announced” during a meeting of the Galveston City Council and Wharves Board that Disney Cruise Line would be expanding full-time to Galveston starting in 2027.

He also added that he believed it would be with a larger ship than the Disney Magic, which has since announced sailings between November 2026 and April 2027 on four, five, and seven-night itineraries. This one also feels inevitable, although there will only be one additional ship by late 2027. Accordingly, it doesn’t seem possible for DCL to accomplish all of these things until 2029 when the next 3 ships come online.

Of course, any announcement that involves homeports is going to include Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. San Juan, Puerto Rico also serves as a homeport currently. So no real surprises there, either.

In all likelihood, tomorrow’s announcement from Disney Cruise Line will be focused on the Fall 2027 to Spring 2028 itineraries for the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy legacy ships, plus the newer Believe, Destiny, Treasure, and Wish.

For reference, this slate was revealed last year on August 19th, so we’re already almost a week behind schedule.

Last year’s announcement also included booking dates, starting on August 25, 2025 for select Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members, with general bookings beginning September 2, 2025.

If we adjust that for 2026, it means that booking dates should look like this (note that what follows is a prediction based on past precedent–nothing has been officially announced):

• Monday, August 31, 2026: Castaway Club Pearl Members
• Tuesday, September 1, 2026: Castaway Club Platinum Members, Golden Oak and Walt Disney World Club 33 Members
• Wednesday, September 2, 2026: Castaway Club Gold Members
• Thursday, September 3, 2026: Castaway Club Silver Members, Disney Vacation Club Members and Adventures by Disney Adventure Insiders
• Tuesday, September 8, 2026: General bookings open

That even aligns with Labor Day this year versus last year, so we’d imagine that those booking dates are pretty close to accurate, although I’m always surprised when Disney opens anything on a Monday.

Here are other details from last year’s announcement that may (or may not!) be instructive to homeports for each ship in the Fall 2027 to Spring 2028 season:

• The Disney Magic will kick off the sailing season in October 2026 from San Diego, California, with three, four, five, six, and seven-night voyages.
• The Disney Wonder will make its way to San Diego in October 2026 as well, offering everything from three- to seven-night sailings through April 2027. The Disney Magic will stop in Catalina Island, California, as well as Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
• The Disney Magic sails from Galveston between November 2026 and April 2027 on four, five, and seven-night sailings.
• The Disney Destiny offers four-, five-, and seven-nights from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean, and Western Caribbean throughout the 2026-2027 season.
• The Disney Dream will begin fall 2026 with three-, four-, five-, and six -night cruises to The Bahamas and seven-night sailings to the Eastern Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, as well as seven-night sailings to the Southern Caribbean from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Disney Dream will then make its way to Port Canaveral for more three- and four-night Bahamian vacations.
• The Disney Fantasy will call on Disney Castaway Cay, Disney Lookout Cay and Nassau between October 2026 and May 2027 during three-, four-, and five-night voyages.
• The Disney Wish will visit Disney Castaway Cay, Disney Lookout Cay, and Nassau. Three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral will be offered on the Disney Wish.
• The Disney Treasure will offer 7-night sailings from Port Canaveral will allow guests to experience the beauty of Cozumel, magic of Disney Castaway Cay, sunshine of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the picturesque views of the Caribbean between October 2026 to May 2027.

It’ll be interesting to see what ends up being announced. There are already known quantities with San Diego and the ships in Florida, but it’s less clear whether this marks a full (or brief) return to New York City, as well as the degree to which Galveston gets more sailings, or a bigger ship.

More sailings from Texas and a return to New York City have been two of the biggest requests from Disney Cruise Line fans, though, so at minimum, it would seem they’re about to get their wish! We’ll keep you posted with full details of (what we assume is) the 2027-2028 itinerary reveal tomorrow!
