Disney World’s Free Airport Luggage Transfer Onsite Perk Adds Three New Resorts in 5,500 Room Expansion

After adding its first Terminal C airline last month, Walt Disney World is adding 3 new hotels to its free Airport Luggage Transfer perk, with its biggest expansion since launch to cover the remaining Moderate Resorts. Here are the latest official details about the baggage handling service between Orlando International Airport and WDW, plus our commentary and prediction as to which Deluxe Resorts will be added first.
As basic background, Airport Luggage Transfer (ALT) returned to Walt Disney World in late March 2025. The service expanded from only Pop Century to all Value Resorts in early April 2025. For the first several months, ALT was only one-way, available for guests leaving Walt Disney World with departures out of Orlando International Airport.
Last November, Airport Luggage Transfer added inbound service for arrivals and transfers to Walt Disney World. With that, guests arriving on domestic flights now have the option to skip baggage claim at MCO. By pre-registering and checking their luggage at the bag drop area or ticket counter at their home airport, bags will be directly delivered to their Walt Disney World resort. This was a real game-changer from our perspective.
In mid-2026, and Airport Luggage Transfer expanded from just Southwest Airlines to also include American Airlines and United Airlines. Almost exactly three months after that, Walt Disney World began offering ALT at Caribbean Beach Resort in mid-August. A little over one month later, Airport Luggage Transfer added JetBlue in late September, making that the first airline out of the new Terminal C eligible for the perk.
The latest development is that, effective Thursday, October 29, 2026, Airport Luggage Transfer at Walt Disney World will expand to the remaining Moderate Resorts, for eligible arriving and departing domestic flights at Orlando International Airport. Here’s the official announcement:
Beginning today, Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney will expand to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, giving more eligible Guests access to the service.
This service allows Guests staying at select Disney Resorts Collection hotels and traveling via eligible domestic flights at Orlando International Airport (MCO) to have their checked luggage transferred between the airport and their Disney Resort hotel.

Walt Disney World also has a teaser on the website: “Additional airlines could be added soon. Please check back for the most up-to-date information.”
Why Coronado & Port Orleans Make Sense as ALT Additions
When previously predicting where Airport Luggage Transfer would expand next, we pointed first to Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter, as the largest combined property that didn’t yet have the service. We predicted those sister resorts would be added before Coronado Springs or any Deluxe Resorts.
The clear pattern of past ALT expansion supported this. Airport Luggage Transfer has prioritized high-impact additions, meaning adding the service in resort areas where a lot of guests could be served at a single-site or within compact resort districts.
The service is still slowly but surely building out its infrastructure, making that approach more logical than a bunch of smaller Deluxe Resorts that are far apart from one another. This is frustrating for guests of the higher-tier hotels who feel like they’re paying more and getting less, but this is partly an initiative of the airport itself to ease the burden on its baggage handling.
Together, the Port Orleans sister resorts boast over 3,050 rooms. This puts them fairly far behind the All Stars or Pop Century plus Art of Animation, the original consolidated resort regions that were part of ALT, but the biggest to not be part of Airport Luggage Transfer until now.
For its part, Coronado Springs Resort and Gran Destino Tower are home to nearly 2,400 rooms. That made it another seemingly obvious addition, but we nevertheless expected that to happen after the Port Orleans resorts since Coronado is the convention hotel, and that demographic of guests is less likely to use Airport Luggage Transfer.
It’s great to be slightly wrong about the order of additions, and have Port Orleans Riverside, French Quarter, and Coronado Springs including Gran Destino Tower all added simultaneously. This brings 3 new hotels and nearly 5,500 rooms to the mix, with Airport Luggage Transfer now covering all Value and Moderate Resorts.
Which Deluxe Resort Will Add Airport Luggage Transfer First?
If we continue operating under the assumption, which until now has been accurate, that the company behind Airport Luggage Transfer will prioritize high-impact expansion, the obvious next additions are the Crescent Lake Resorts.
Given that this expansion was a trio of resorts, that could mean Yacht & Beach Club plus BoardWalk all added at the same time. If it’s just two of the resorts, the sister properties of Yacht & Beach Club make more sense. They would then, presumably, be followed by BoardWalk in short order.
It might even mean the Swan & Dolphin and Swan Reserve joining the lineup then, too. We could see this one going either way, and is probably about 50/50 on whether it happens or doesn’t. Even though those are third party hotels, they’re often treated like Deluxe Resorts for the sake of perks.
Since Walt Disney World alone is not funding Airport Luggage Transfer, it’s likely the Swolphin joins the service unless the hotelier decides to opt out for whatever reason. It is worth noting that they were not eligible for Disney’s Magical Express, but this is a bit different.
Beyond that, predictions get difficult. The monorail resorts are all in fairly close proximity to one another, making that an obvious next-step. Another easier possibility is Disney’s Riviera Resort, which is lower impact given its room count, but is basically a sister property to Caribbean Beach.
If expansion takes long enough, the ‘wilderness’ region consisting of Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, and Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will have a high collective room count and easy access among the resorts. But that won’t be until July 2027. All of these options probably make sense over the more isolated Deluxe Resorts, but we shall see!
Is Delta Airlines Next?
Walt Disney World quietly added Delta Airlines to the service on June 29, 2026, before removing the airline less than an hour later. Based on what we heard at the time, the announcement was made prematurely, not completely in error.
The exact same thing had actually happened with the United and American news, with the website updating ahead of the announcement. In that case, there were only a couple of weeks between the “leak” and the official announcement.
Given that precedent, I’m surprised Disney hasn’t officially announced the Delta addition yet. It’s been nearly four months since then, and still nothing. Big blow for those of us who primarily fly Delta!
Airport Luggage Transfer Will Keep Growing
The good news is that Airport Luggage Transfer is pretty popular. I’ve done several Value Resort stays in the last year, and whenever I’ve dropped off bags, there’s always been a modest crowd of guests using ALT.
Based on everything we’ve heard since Airport Luggage Transfer launched, the reception to the service has been positive and the rollout has been relatively smooth. To the extent there have been complaints, they’ve mostly been from guests wanting their resorts or airlines serviced.
Walt Disney World has also gotten better about communicating the service’s availability to guests. During my recent stay at Pop Century, not only was there signage around the resort, but I also got a call on my in-room phone. Prior to my trip, I did not receive any communications about the inbound version of the service, however.
All of this strongly suggests that Airport Luggage Transfer will expand further. It’ll just take time. Admittedly, more time has passed than we hoped between the official launch and the first big expansion, but it’s not surprising.
This is a complicated service and the infrastructure for it has been dormant for over 6 years. It involves not just Walt Disney World Cast Members, but also BagCheck employees and vendors at MCO. There are a lot of moving parts, and it cannot go from zero to 100 overnight…or even in over 18 months.
It may not feel “fair” to guests paying big bucks to stay Club Level at the Grand Floridian and fly Delta One, but the service starting at Value and Moderate Resorts comes down to scale and logistics, as opposed to which guests are most “deserving” (air quotes) of Airport Luggage Transfer. This is doubly true given that the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) is helping fund ALT, and they don’t care about it from a WDW guest perk perspective. Speaking of which…
Is Disney’s Magical Express Next to Return?!
Orlando International Airport needs to improve its efficiency in multiple regards, and having passengers arrive and depart via higher-capacity buses is one such way. As we’ve said before, this feels like the stars aligning, as there’s a mutually-beneficial solution for both Disney’s and MCO’s woes.
This isn’t simply wishful thinking, like daydreaming about a return of Horizons that’ll never happen. The GOAA wants DME to return and is willing to help pay for it. That’s the basis for our remarks above about aging infrastructure and being surprised that a Terminal C airline is being added before more in the legacy terminals.
If you don’t believe me, check out Will Disney’s Magical Express Airport Shuttle Ever Return? That post covers the very real possibility of DME returning, and it’s based on correspondence among leadership at the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
