For Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, chefs and mixologists in the parks & resorts have created over 150 new dishes, drinks, and desserts. This food guide covers what’s debuting for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, starting October 1, 2021 and running for 18 months!
These culinary creations celebrate 50 years of the Vacation Kingdom, by paying tribute to Walt Disney World attractions (past and present), beloved characters, EARidescent shimmer, and nostalgic dishes from 1971. All of this serves as the inspiration for the food and drinks created for the 50th Anniversary.
Another inspiration was Walt Disney’s personal recipes. As is well-documented, Walt’s palate was relatively simple–one of his go-to meals was canned chili. Other Walt Disney favorites included roast beef hash topped with a fried egg, chili, and fried chicken plus bread pudding desserts. Disney chefs looked to the archives while planning for the celebration–and that just scratches the surface…

Ultimately, I knew there would be some special dishes, drinks, and desserts for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, but I’m blown away by just how many items there are–many of which are inventive and relevant to the milestone anniversary in one way or another. These special menus are one of the things we’re most excited about for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and that’s no exaggeration.
I joke about eating ridiculous foods and steak the size of my head being “for the sake of very important research,” but the fact is that I love having an excuse to order special foods. This year, that’s even more true than normal, as menus at Walt Disney World have been scaled back since reopening, and have only recently started returning to normal. This is another welcome step in the right direction of undoing that–especially in Magic Kingdom, where even the normal “full” menus are pretty underwhelming.
Potential highlights for us include the Mission to Mars Burger at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae (served in a BATHTUB!) at Auntie Gravity’s, Mr. Toad Burger at Friar’s Nook, Cheers to 50 Years! at Plaza Restaurant, Chicken Dinner Cupcake Trio at Fort Wilderness, Filet Mignon with Walt’s Hash at Hollywood Brown Derby, and whatever else catches our eyes. (Honestly, I’m still digesting all of these menus–I’m sure I’ll find many more must-order items.) We truly can’t wait!
