Food Guide to Disney World’s 50th Anniversary – Full List of 150+ Dishes, Desserts & Drinks!
For Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, chefs and mixologists in the parks & resorts have created over 150 new dishes, drinks, and desserts. This food guide covers what’s debuting for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, starting October 1, 2021 and running for 18 months!
These culinary creations celebrate 50 years of the Vacation Kingdom, by paying tribute to Walt Disney World attractions (past and present), beloved characters, EARidescent shimmer, and nostalgic dishes from 1971. All of this serves as the inspiration for the food and drinks created for the 50th Anniversary.
Another inspiration was Walt Disney’s personal recipes. As is well-documented, Walt’s palate was relatively simple–one of his go-to meals was canned chili. Other Walt Disney favorites included roast beef hash topped with a fried egg, chili, and fried chicken plus bread pudding desserts. Disney chefs looked to the archives while planning for the celebration–and that just scratches the surface…
This food guide to Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary covers the 150 new menu items, and where to find them!

Ultimately, I knew there would be some special dishes, drinks, and desserts for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, but I’m blown away by just how many items there are–many of which are inventive and relevant to the milestone anniversary in one way or another. These special menus are one of the things we’re most excited about for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and that’s no exaggeration.
I joke about eating ridiculous foods and steak the size of my head being “for the sake of very important research,” but the fact is that I love having an excuse to order special foods. This year, that’s even more true than normal, as menus at Walt Disney World have been scaled back since reopening, and have only recently started returning to normal. This is another welcome step in the right direction of undoing that–especially in Magic Kingdom, where even the normal “full” menus are pretty underwhelming.
Potential highlights for us include the Mission to Mars Burger at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae (served in a BATHTUB!) at Auntie Gravity’s, Mr. Toad Burger at Friar’s Nook, Cheers to 50 Years! at Plaza Restaurant, Chicken Dinner Cupcake Trio at Fort Wilderness, Filet Mignon with Walt’s Hash at Hollywood Brown Derby, and whatever else catches our eyes. (Honestly, I’m still digesting all of these menus–I’m sure I’ll find many more must-order items.) We truly can’t wait!

I accidentally managed to be the first person to try the Lost Slipper at Cinderella’s Royal Table and the Squid Salad at Be Our Guest. On the 50th proper, there were a lot of issues with the online menus displaying incorrectly or suggesting additional prices on new items like the Magic Carpet pork. I’m sure that will get ironed out in time, though, and they’d corrected it by the end of the day by just passing out menus.
The Slipper is a spectacular up-charge desert with one of those ‘disappearing dome’ tricks when hot caramel is poured over a chocolate shell. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ‘disappears’ from the menu instead, as they were having a ton of problems getting the gimmick to actually work on day one. That would be a shame, though, as the flavors were really beautiful melded together. The rasberry, caramel, chocolate, and edible flowers just hit this perfect note…even if my slipper remained lost under an unexpectedly durable dome.
I really hadn’t expected to be the first to try the Squid salad, as our BoG reservation wasn’t until 5. However, it’s not hard to tell that it’s a family-drawing restaurant without many adventurous eaters as one of the managers actually stopped by to ask me how I liked it. Really, I loved it, but I like eating non-standard food and seaweed salad is a favorite cool dish of mine on a hot day. I really didn’t get why BoG had so many 50k Leagues references at first, until I realized where it was located in the park. Then, I was actually pleasantly surprised that Disney was acknowledging it. I hope more people give the new dishes a try!
I agree with Kathryn. The list is REALLY dessert centric. I assume special desserts probably sell better. I love desserts too, I would just also like to see more savory options.
Tom – you’ll have to help us out – we need to know – which dessert are worth it? And are they really better than what you can get normally?
We’re coming in March for our first ever visit to WDW, so would rather pick the best items of what’s available, and not order an anniversary item if it’s inferior to a regular option.
Im sure seeing a lot of fancy descriptions of the items like the word “premium” used alot as a way to justify charging big bucks for an ice cream bar.
No comments about the Spam-Cheddar biscuits? Spam really is going mainstream.
(Mainstream or no, I will pass on the Spam.)
i might have to use an ADR reservation at crystal palace to ge that chicken fried steak and Ny strip! i hope thats accurate
Will you review gluten-free and/or dairy free items as well?
Jana – I love eating at Disney! I am gluten and lactose-free so finding food can be a pain in other places. I highly recommend Sci-Fi Dine In where you can get a burger with a gluten-free bun, french fries, and a milk shake. It was the best “normal meal” I have eaten in a long time. As mentioned by someone else, tell the server or counter service person what the allergy is and they will get you a chef. You can also check out menus on WDW, if you scroll down they will list allergy menus items. Many chefs are able to work with your restrictions and often the kitchens have a separate prep/cooking area for allergy-free meals. If doing meal reservations you can mark your food allergies as well, this helps them be ready for you in case they need to have alternative foods on hand. Snacks in the parks that are safe – popcorn and dole whip! 😉 There are others, but those are the best in my opinion.
@Jana I have Celiac and have been eating very well at Disney for 15 years. All table service and most counter service restaurants have wonderful gluten free options! You just have to tell a cast member when you arrive that you need to eat gluten free and a manager will handle your order in the kitchen. We almost exclusively vacation at WDW because of how well they handle restricted diets. How you and your friend have a delicious time!
I was so excited to read about 150 new creations. And then I read the list. I was thrilled about the Corned Beef Hash (my 1st culinary adventure 6 decades ago at Niagara Falls.) But then, 135 of the 150 are Dessert or Alcohol-Centric. My favorite meals at WDW have been creative savory dishes. Last year, I had to settle for unexciting, albeit delicious, choices. Hoping there will be more exciting offerings by December 1st.
Chili comments really got me…
Am I the only person who doesn’t like blue food? I won’t eat a single one that has artificially colored food substances because I can taste the difference between a blue chocolate flavored frosting and chocolate frosting with my eyes closed. (I won’t eat blue M&Ms either. Have passed two blind taste testing and picked out the blue ones every time!).
I get it; blue for the 50th anniversary/birthday celebration. Yes, they look pretty but I don’t like the grey stuff either. I’d rather eat those big fat chocolate chunk cookies from Main Street Confectionery or their version of rice krispie bars with chocolate ears.
That’s exactly what Walt would have wanted.
I was hoping for a tin can labeled “Chili” and inside is just canned chili. Minimalist. Do it, you cowards.
Coming soon to Tony’s Town Square: a special 3-course meal for $95 where all courses are unopened cans of chili.
Might be better than some of the meals we’ve had there, honestly.
I’m seeing lots of yummy chocolate ganache desserts that I’m going to try! I feel like I have to try the uncle Orville treat. A bathtub serving dish? Yes, please!
Thank you Tom for doing the important research of taste testing all these foods 😉 I can’t wait to read your reviews!!
I’m already scheming as to how I’m going to review these items. Good thing I have 18 months!
One of each, please!
I love dining at Disney! I’m wondering , though, what are the best restaurants for gluten free choices? I’m headed to a conference in February and would like to be able to make my dining selections wisely as my coworker going with me is GF. Thanks!
I’m already making my list for when we come again next year. The trio of cupcakes look adorable!! And all of the 50th “coins” are beautiful. Please try as many of these as possible, Tom & Sarah – we’re depending on you.
We won’t let you down. (Well, I won’t. Not sure Sarah will be quite as helpful for this important research!)
OH MY some of those desserts look spectacular! I foresee many “special exceptions” from my keto lifestyle coming up!!!
My goal of eating healthier has officially been derailed until at least January 2022. Oh well, job hazard, I guess! 🙂
Happy Birthday Disney World and Mickey Mouse! May you continue to bring happiness for the children of all ages for centuries 🙂
