The Living Seas & Monorail Photo

The Living Seas Monorail

On our December 2011 Walt Disney World trip when we were at Epcot, Sarah headed to to The Land right away to grab FastPasses and to hit Sunshine Seasons (smart!) for breakfast. I wasn’t hungry, so I headed to this spot over by The Living Seas pavilion to grab a shot of the monorail (inspired by a photo from one of my favorite Disney fan photographers) and visit The Coral Reef. I call it by its former name, The Living Seas, here not because I dislike the new name (although I do), but because this area contains some of the last vestiges of The Living Seas. You have the signage from The Coral Reef, the general color scheme, and…no Nemo!

I stood here and waited for a few minutes before the monorail finally came. I debated long and hard between this shot and one with a sunburst right in front of the monorail’s nose, but I ultimately choose this one. I love sunbursts, but it just didn’t add anything to this shot. Maybe someday I’ll post the sunburst version to see if guys agree.

Technical details: Nikon D7000 and Rokinon 8mm Fisheye Lens. See our Disney Photography Guide for more photography equipment recommendations.
