Star Wars Weekends 2012

Star Wars Weekends 2012 begin May 18, 2012 at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’ll be there for the opening weekend with live coverage and photos of the festivities! This year, James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will host Star Wars Weekends, as the Imperial Sector and Rebel Base take over Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Star Wars Weekends will feature many special shows and presentations, a Star Wars celebrity parade, celebrity autographs, and special edition Star Wars merchandise, among many other things! StarWars.com has the full list of celebrities who will be present during Star Wars Weekends 2012.

Merchandise is another big part of Star Wars Weekends, and 2012 features the all-new “Darth Mall” for merchandise. Disney Parks Blog has already given readers a behind the scenes look at Star Wars Weekends and a sneak peak at some of the merchandise that will be available for Star Wars Weekends 2012, and it looks great! Especially interesting is the all-new “Carbon Freeze-Me” experience, which uses state-of-the-art imaging technology, to cast your likeness as a three-dimensional, eight-inch figurine. Several cameras will capture multiple angles of your face; these images are then reconstructed in a computer for processing to create a figurine. Much like the rest of Star Wars Weekends, that sounds awesome, doesn’t it?!

We are really excited to share all the festivities of this year’s Star Wars Weekends with you, and you can find all of our coverage right here on this page. The links in the next section contain some awesome photos from the first weekend of Star Wars Weekends 2012.

My husband and I leave tomorrow night for our first Star Wars Weekends!! I’m looking forward to new photo opportunities, and he can’t wait for his Carbon Freeze-Me experience reservation. :)

Report back on how the Carbon Freeze-Me experience goes. I’m curious!

I’m the one that said hi to you and Sarah at the Studio Catering Co on Saturday. My husband really enjoyed the Carbon Freeze-Me experience. They took several pictures of him making different facial expressions and he got to pick which one he wanted “frozen”. They also show you the 3D computer representation of your face which is pretty cool to see. The light-up wristband only lasted a few days before it broke.

It was great to meet you! Hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip!

  4. Jeff says:

Thank you for the pictures and the report (especially the cupcakes). We can’t make it but I love seeing what is happening and the beautiful pictures. They almost make me afraid to take mine with my little point and shoot. Keep up the great work.
