Sunrise Over Sleeping Beauty Castle’s Moat Photo
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Twilight Zone. This, as you may recognize, is an ordinary castle located in the heart of a Disney theme park. However, this is no ordinary theme park castle, for this castle has two suns rising over its draw-bridge. And this castle draw-bridge travels directly to…the Twilight Zone! 😉
As I ran all around Disneyland trying to catch different vantage points of the sunrise, I kept returning to this spot, hoping for the sun to perfectly peak through the trees. Finally, that magical moment occurred, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see two sunbursts through my viewfinder. Not only was the sun itself visible through the trees, but a perfect reflection of the sun was “bursting” off the water! Thanks to the perfectly placid water, the scene reflected wonderfully off of the water in the Sleeping Beauty Castle moat! Thanks to that, this is one of my favorite shots from the morning.
Technical details: single exposure; handheld Nikon D7000 and Rokinon 8mm Fisheye Lens. See our Disney Photography Guide for more photography equipment recommendations.

Beyond awesome with the REFLECTION of the rising sun!!
Yeah, the reflection takes this from a neat shot to one that I really love.
Sweet, more like a dream than reality. Maybe Avatar Land should be designed by photogs, scored by Daft Punk. One question, if this is #1, how may exposures did you click off in 25 hours.
This is not #1 (I haven’t determined what that is yet), it’s “one of” my favorites. As for how many photos? Far too many. A lot of them are incredibly redundant to one another, as I shot in burst mode to ensure that I’d have at least one good shot in a series that didn’t have a random bird in the sky or other distracting passing object.
Amazing! As usual. Love your pics!
Thanks–glad you like it!
