Aulani – Disney’s Hawaii Resort Trip Report

DSC_5395 as Smart Object-1 copy

Our Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa Trip Report covers our first visit to this resort in Ko Olina, Oahu. The report covers our thoughts on the resort, photos from the visit, and random tidbits. For this particular visit to Aulani, we stayed 3 nights, spent a lot of time at the resort, ate at every restaurant, lazied in every river, slid in every water slide, and drank at every bar…ALL IN THE NAME OF RESEARCH! ;)

We’ve had a lot of questions about Aulani from a variety of different (for lack of better term) “demographics,” and we think this is because it’s a resort with a lot of depth thanks to the work of the Walt Disney Imagineers in creating an authentic environment that would celebrate Hawaiian culture and history, while also being a luxurious destination that would appeal to both families and more ‘typical’ tourists to Hawaii seeking a romantic getaway. All of this flowery language probably sounds like a press release, but really it’s just meant to explain why we think there’s so much interest in Aulani. In a way, it breaks the mold on the formula of the resorts on Waikiki Beach, and there’s a lot of curiosity about what Disney has done in Hawaii.

Hopefully, this report will provide some insight into the things about which you’re curious. Accompanying the rambling text that will more likely raise more questions than it answers will be hundreds of photos from Aulani, including lots of food, spa, lazy river, and other photos. Besides the typical vibrant landscape photos that are common on our blog, we will also share photos of the details that make Aulani a worthwhile place to visit in Hawaii, whether you’re a Disney fan or not!

The first installment of the Aulani Trip Report is now live! (more…)

Hong Kong Disneyland Trip Report

Our Hong Kong Disneyland Trip Report covers our first visit experience in Hong Kong Disneyland during their Christmas celebration. The report covers our thoughts on numerous rides on Mystic Manor, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, Space Mountain, and other attractions. For this trip, we stayed at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and tried traditional Chinese dishes like dim sum and other interesting foods served in the park. We also dined at the Explorer’s Club, the “spiritual successor” to the now-extinct Adventurers Club at Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island.

This report will include hundreds of photos from Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, Main Street, and more. Besides the typical vibrant landscape photos that are common on our blog, we will also share photos of the details that make Hong Kong Disneyland unique–the types of photos not typically seen on English sites.

Walt Disney World Memorial Day Trip Report

Over Memorial Day weekend, we headed down to Walt Disney World for the Rock Your Disney Side 24-Hour Party, Star Wars Weekends, and just some general good times. During our first trip to Walt Disney World of 2014, we dined at a variety of restaurants including Chef Mickey’s, Cinderella’s Royal Table, both Star Wars Character Meals, and more! We also took a ton of photos, and tried out new-to-us things at Walt Disney World.

This trip report takes a look at our experiences during our 5-day Memorial Day weekend trip. This trip report has all of the classic elements of a Bricker trip report: little sleep, lots of photos, tons of eating, and an incredible adventure with Nicolas Cage to kill the ghost of Osama bin Laden. Okay, that reference probably only made sense to SNL fans, sorry, but it if awkward references and unfunny jokes aren’t your thing, it’s probably time to close out this browser tab!

We hope you join us on this exciting* and terrific* trip report! Bookmark this page as it will be where we organize the updates in one convenient location. Click the links below to go to each installment… (more…)

Disneyland Christmas Trip Report

We visited Disneyland Resort in December 2013 to enjoy the Christmas season, when both Disney California and Disneyland get a little merrier. This report features photos of both parks decked out for the holidays (including Cars Land Christmas photos!), plus commentary and photos of Haunted Mansion Holiday, ‘it’s a small world’ holiday, World of Color – Winter Dreams, Believe… In Holiday Magic Fireworks, Viva Navidad!, Jingle Cruise, Candlelight Processional (narrated by Kurt Russell), and more!

Although it was only a 2-day trip, we covered a lot of ground and ate at a variety of restaurants, including Cafe Orleans, Big Thunder BBQ, Plaza Inn, and Paradise Garden Grill. You can expect photos from these restaurants (and of other Christmas snacks we ate along the way), plus a variety of random stuff. If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort for the holidays, this trip report should help you plan your trip. If you’re not visiting, it should give you a nice taste of the holidays.

Tokyo Disney Resort Trip Report

Sunrise over Cinderella Castle at Tokyo Disneyland. This is actually the inverse of my #1 Cinderella Castle photo spot in the Magic Kingdom (and is probably my #1 photo spot in Tokyo). Top 10 Cinderella Castle Photo Spots: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/cinderella-castle-photo-spots/

Our Tokyo Disney Resort Trip Report covers our first visit to Tokyo Disney Resort–consisting of Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and a variety of hotels and shopping–just outside of the city of Tokyo, Japan. We visited during the first weeks of Tokyo Disney Resort’s 30th Anniversary, called “The Happiness Year.”

This report will include hundreds of photos of these two breathtaking theme parks, including Mysterious Island, Tokyo’s Tower of Terror, Cape Cod, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Monster’s Inc. Ride and Go Seek, the grand opening of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, and much more! We will also have rare sunrise and nighttime photos from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, plus photos of details and other parts of these beautiful parks that are not often seen on websites written in English.

We feel that the two Tokyo Disney Resort parks are the nicest Disney theme parks in the world, and places every Disney fan should visit once in their lifetime. We think you’ll agree with us once you read and see this trip report!

Prepare for plenty of tangents, corny jokes, and our general travel trips for visiting Japan. In addition to this trip report, stay tuned for a series of overview/trip planning articles concerning Tokyo Disney Resort. (more…)
