Disney World Giving Free Gift with Christmas Gift Cards

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when flash sales and deals on Disney gift cards start to appear. In the spirit of the Christmas season, Walt Disney World and Disneyland are getting in on this to a degree, giving away free limited edition holiday pins with select gift card purchases. Here are full details, plus an update on other GC discounts as early Black Friday sales heat up.

If you’re looking for ways to save on gift cards at other retailers, check out our comprehensive Money-Saving Tips for Discount Disney Gift Cards. That covers Kroger, Target, Costco, Best Buy, Meijer and more. We’ve also been sharing deals on gift cards for third party restaurateurs that operate at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

That gift card buying guide includes everything from straightforward sales to more complicated ways to stack savings (e.g. cash back sites, credit card bonuses, etc). This post is shorter and sweeter, focusing on the free keepsake being offered with the purchase of $125 worth of gift cards from Disney directly, along with an update on this weekend’s Sam’s Club Doorbuster Deal.

Sam’s Club Deal Update

Before we dig into that, let’s start with an update on the Up to $120 Off Disney Gift Cards Doorbuster Sale at Sam’s Club. The bad news is that the deal is dead. The good news is that, despite all of the fanfare, the deal actually did last until the general public was able to purchase the gift cards, which ended up being at 9 am Eastern. I’m not sure of the exact time the gift cards sold out, but they were gone sometime between 9:10 am and 10 am.

The other bad news is that the process was a bit rocky for some folks. We’ve heard from a few readers who were able to purchase the gift cards without issue…but for full price! According to these reports, the price changed between the time they put the gift cards in their cart, which did reflect the discounted price, and the time they checked out.

Adding insult to injury, Sam’s Club customer service basically called this a matter of ‘user error,’ attributing the issue to those customers checking out a minute or two before the sale technically went live. While I did not have this problem, I don’t even know how it’s possible. The gift cards weren’t even loaded onto the site until the sale started!

Finally, there was a bit of the usual, with gift cards not being delivered immediately via email or customers not being able to view the balance online for a number of hours. This is pretty typical of third party deals of this nature, and not really worth fixating on.

We know it can be nerve wracking, but our standard advice would be to give things about 12 hours to appear in your email and/or Disney’s system. If you’re still having problems after that, then maybe consider contacting the retailer or Disney, as the case may be. But usually, the problem will self-resolve.

As for the Sam’s Club deal, it currently indicates that the $300 gift cards are “out of stock.” In the past, we have actually seen these doorbuster deals come back in stock on rare occasion after initially selling out. I would strongly bet against that happening here.

For one, the last big Sam’s Club deal did not come back in stock online. For another, the long lead-up to this included a push towards ‘Plus’ subscriptions, which suggests Walmart is probably comfortable with the sale mostly selling up to the higher tier of members. In fact, that might be a feature, not a bug.

Also potentially worth mentioning is that last time multiple readers also reported success at purchasing Disney gift cards at their local brick-and-mortar Sam’s Club store for the discounted price. This was despite the savings book specifically stating the deal was online only.

That discount was not advertised on some store shelves, but was taken at the register. Our best guess was that this was an olive branch, of sorts, from Sam’s Club after all of the confusion (there were even more issues last time) and the deal sold out so quickly online.

Hopefully most of you who wanted to take advantage of the deal upgraded to Sam’s Club Plus memberships and had uneventful transactions, with all of your Disney gift cards delivered at a discount, and no orders cancelled. Maybe some of you even got lucky and exceeded the order limit! It sounds like smooth sailing for most people, with the issues being outliers.

Regardless, just wanted to do a post mortem on the sale before moving on, partially in the hopes of hearing even more feedback on how it went, and partially for my own sake in documenting this for 6 months from now when Sam’s Club inevitably does the next Disney gift card deal and I’m struggling to remember how it all played out. Now I have my own written record to refer to!

Future Early Black Friday Disney Gift Card Deals?

As far as rewinds go, we are fast approaching the one-year anniversary of last year’s Scorching Sale on Disney Gift Cards at Target, which went live on November 16th. Aside from this summer’s free money glitch, that was the best deal we’ve seen in ages. Honestly, we still cannot believe that not only did it work and stack so well, but that it lasted so long.

We thought for sure it was a price mistake that would be closed in hours, but nope. That it lasted so long suggests that, unlike the free money loophole, it was a purposeful sale. That means it could return in November 2026. There have actually been a lot of good deals on Disney gift cards in 2026, so we’re optimistic about what Black Friday and the holiday season as a whole hold.

We’ll be watching closely for new gift card deals and already have multiple alerts set up. We share all of the gift card sales, so subscribe to our free email newsletter for a heads up when more Disney gift card deals go live.

If you spot a gift card deal that we’ve yet to cover, please leave a comment or shoot me an email ([email protected]). It would be greatly appreciated, especially as we head into the heart of the (busy) holiday season. I’m wrapping up a long stretch of travel and am currently at Walt Disney World for the kickoff of Christmas, so I’m not as “online” as usual right now.

With that out of the way, let’s dig into deals of the holiday freebie that Walt Disney World and Disneyland are offering with select gift card purchases…

Free Pin with Purchase at the Parks

The Limited Edition 2026 Holiday Disney Pin Series features stockings themed to Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Stitch, and Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Find these throughout Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Each pin series gift card, sold with a minimum activation of $125, comes with a complimentary Disney Trading Pin featuring the character on the card. These limited edition gift card and pin combo packs are available only at select merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, while supplies last.

Maybe I’m just a grinch and/or hardcore dealhound, but this does nothing for me. You have to purchase a full-priced $125 Disney gift card, a product that I’d pay no more than $118.75 for at the absolute maximum! That puts the theoretical cash value of the pins at $6.25 each, and that’s more than I’d be willing to pay for any of them. And again, that’s at the lowest end of the spectrum. Assuming a 10% discount like the Sam’s Club deal, and the cash value of the pins would be $12.50.

Nevertheless, we figured this was a deal worth sharing as not everyone is as militant about Disney gift card deals. Even as aggressive as we are, we still don’t accumulate enough deeply-discounted gift cards to cover all of our annual expenses…but most people probably aren’t spending nearly as much in the parks as us, either.

This is still better than paying full price or getting nothing, so there’s that. You also don’t have to jump through hoops or endure any issues (see above). There’s something to be said for a frictionless freebie, or perhaps a no-cost souvenir that’ll appease your kids and prevent you from having to make an alternative spontaneous purchase in the parks.

There are also a lot of people who collect pins and might genuinely value this at $6-12 or whatever. If the last year of enduring Pin Drop Tuesdays and the chaos of the Innoventions Breezeway has taught me anything, it’s that Disney Pin Trading is alive and well!

If you’re curious about other seasonal and limited-edition holiday designs, Disney has released a rundown of them. No other real freebies, though, unless you count a themed envelope. (I do not.)

WDW Third Party Restaurant GC Deal

Sam’s Club also has $100 Landry’s Gift Cards on sale for $75 as part of the same online doorbuster sale discussed above. The big difference is that this one is not sold out. This will be available through November 8, 2026, or while supplies last. No offense to Landry’s, but I’d be surprised if it sells out.

The gift cards are valid at Landry’s Seafood, Chart House, Saltgrass Steak House, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Claim Jumper, Morton’s The Steakhouse, and more! For our purposes, it’s the “and more” that matters. Landry’s also runs Yak & Yeti and Rainforest Cafe at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as Rainforest Cafe and T-REX at Disney Springs.

Yak & Yeti is a sleeper pick at Animal Kingdom that we highly recommend. It has fallen out of favor in the last decade, but not because of anything about the restaurant. It’s only because we prefer Tiffins, Nomad Lounge, and Satu’li Canteen–and spend the least time at Animal Kingdom out of any park at Walt Disney World.

One thing to note is that there are occasionally better deals on Landry’s gift cards. Closer to Christmas last year, $100 Landry’s gift cards were on sale for $65, also at Sam’s Club. Obviously, there’s no guarantee of that repeating, just wanted to mention that deeper discounts do happen. That’s why this one appears a lot lower in the post!

Keeping Track of Disney GCs

We subscribe to the “it all adds up” mantra, and this deal will make a meaningful contribution towards paying for a Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or Disney Cruise Line vacation. Consequently, we make a point of maxing out every gift card deal that offers at least 8% off. That’s our personal threshold for putting in the effort (as well as sharing with readers).

Speaking of it all adding up, we also highly recommend combining Disney gift cards so you don’t have a wallet or purse filled with a dozen different ones, and you have to make multiple scans at each cash register to figure out which ones still have a balance. Disney gift cards can be combined via Disney’s online management tool under “My Cards.”

You can also use that to check balances. That might save yourself some embarrassment so you’re not trying to pay for something with multiple gift cards with balances under $1, while a line forms behind you. Not that I speak from experience or anything.

Not only that, but gift cards are easier than ever to use in the parks. The My Disney Experience (MDX) app for Walt Disney World and the Disneyland app now save gift cards as payment methods! This change took effect in June, and is an absolute game-changer, especially for Mobile Order (far and away my top use case).

As my fellow hoarders/hackers/collectors are no doubt aware, gift cards could not be saved to your wallet as an in-app payment method in the past. You had to manually enter the gift card information during checkout each and every single time. It was tedious and time-consuming.

That’s no longer the case. To save your Disney Gift Card in either app, click the hamburger button (three horizontal lines) on the bottom right corner of the app, then scroll down past the tiles to the “Account” section and click “MyDisney Wallet” (right below “Profile”). This wallet is the same as the online management tool above, so either method works. (See Big Win for Discount Disney Gift Card Hoarders for more.)

Fans love buying discount Disney gift cards because it’s an easy hack to save ~10% off almost everything on vacation. Disney Gift Cards are redeemable at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, Disney Store US locations, DisneyStore.com, and beyond.

You can use Disney Gift Cards for almost anything parks-related, including but not limited to theme park tickets, hotel stays, merchandise, restaurants, Lightning Lanes, and even at some participating third party locations (e.g. stores and restaurants at Disney Springs and Downtown Disney).

You can use the gift cards online at Disneyworld.com or Disneyland.com when booking trips, as well as in the respective apps when placing Mobile Orders, etc. Basically, you can use these gift cards for almost anything at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and beyond. There are some odd and random exceptions to this, but they’re almost as good as a regular credit card or currency.
