Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique & Harmony Barber Shop Reopening at Disney World
Walt Disney World has announced the reopenings of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom. This post covers dates, details, and commentary about the return of these personal haircutting and styling, makeup, and costume services. (Updated June 28, 2022.)
A mainstay of Magic Kingdom since opening day on October 1, 1971, Harmony Barber Shop is once again reopening its doors on July 31, 2022 for the world’s most magical haircut. Considered by many Walt Disney World fans to be a rite-of-passage, the cherished “My First Haircut” experience is making its return as stylists eagerly await guests.
Harmony Barber Shop will offer “extra special pixie dust” for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration to commemorate this special milestone. (Note: I can’t tell if this is simply marketing puffery or they’ll actually be doing something special for the 50th.) Guests of all ages are welcome to take a break from the hustle and bustle and let Harmony Barber Shop’s friendly stylists polish you up for a day at Magic Kingdom.
To ensure service is a cut above the rest, a limited number of reservations for the timeless experience at Harmony Barber Shop will be bookable in the My Disney Experience app beginning June 28, 2022.
For those who wish to look sharp at the park, walk-in appointments will be accepted at based on availability. Visit the location on Main Street in Magic Kingdom to check on the status–it doesn’t sound like they’ll have a Walk-Up Waitlist in My Disney Experience like table service restaurants.
This marks a special moment for Magic Kingdom as the final Main Street locale reopens its doors to invite young and old alike to share in the cheer of yesteryear. Walt Disney World indicates that its Cast Members look forward to providing families with magical memories in the whimsical nostalgia of a bygone era.
With that said, there are still several other locations that remain “temporarily unavailable” in Magic Kingdom, including one just off-Main Street, right behind Cinderella Castle…
We’re talking about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which has locations in Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The reopening of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has been a top question from families who are eager to get their kids a royal makeover before they age out of the experience.
Good news on that front! According to Disney, a magical proclamation was found in Fantasyland announcing a very special return…
June 28, 2022 UPDATE: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will soon welcome young guests once again for royal head-to-toe transformations at both Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and Disneyland on August 25, 2022.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney Springs will reopen at a later date.
Upon reopening, the Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices will transform guests ages 3 to 12 into some of their favorite Disney characters with hairstyling, makeup, costumes and accessories.
In addition, the reopening ushers in even more options to choose from, including a new hair accessory especially designed for textured hair and new costumes featuring some of Disney’s newest heroes and heroines coming later this year.
Interestingly, internal casting began a couple of months ago for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. This suggested that the reopening of the royal makeover locale at Walt Disney World would likely happen sometime this summer–and likely towards the start of the season.
Last month, Walt Disney World reopened the studio located near the boutique in Magic Kingdom. For those unfamiliar with the distinction, the studio is a separate photography location where guests can book portrait sessions after their makeovers–or independent of them. (Nevertheless, it stands to reason that if the studio is back, the boutique itself wouldn’t be far behind.)
For those who are unfamiliar with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, it’s where your child can get a head-to-toe makeover that’s storybook stunning. Children can choose from one of 3 hairstyles, then add makeup, nail color and accessories—even a Disney Princess costume—to complete the look. It’s a fairy-tale moment worthy of the ultimate “happily ever after!”
Based on the selected package, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers include imperial hairstyling, makeup, manicures, costumes and accessories suitable for even the most castle-worthy occasion:
- The Crown Package – starting at $69.95 plus tax
- The Carriage Package – starting at $94.95 plus tax
- The Courtyard Package – starting at $144.95 plus tax
- The Castle Package – starting at $199.95 plus tax
- The Deluxe Castle Package – starting at $229.95 plus tax
- The Princess Signature Dress Collection – starting at $450.00 plus tax
- The Disney Frozen Crown Package – starting at $119.95 plus tax
- The Disney Frozen Package – starting at $179.95 plus tax
- The Knight Package – starting at $19.95 plus tax
- The Deluxe Knight Package – starting at $79.95 plus tax
For an additional cost, you can enhance your child’s experience at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with the following extra enchantments:
- Shoes
- Wands
- Crowns
- Fairy wings
- T-shirts
- Memory Maker, A Disney PhotoPass Product
- Imaging Packages
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers are quite popular, reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 180 days in advance. (This will probably be reduced to 60 days once Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reopens–and makeovers will likely be more popular than ever due to pent-up demand and parents wanting to get their kids in before they age out of it.)

Want to make reservations for BBB in late November, just don’t know how. Can you help?
Any update on when reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will open? “Early” August is rapidly becoming middle of August.
Help please! I was told reservations will start early August. Is that still the plan. It almost looked like today when I looked they were unavailable (like all sold out).
I don’t *think* reservations have opened yet. I was on refreshing yesterday just before 6am just in case and nothing changed. I really wish they would define early August so we could plan for the drop.
Greetings!
I am so excited with the news of the reopening of the BBB! Can you please provide the information to make a reservation? I want to be ready when October rez become available.
Thanks much!
Grandma Nanc
We are so excited for the reopening of Harmony Barber Shop! I checked at midnight EST on June 28 and they hadn’t opened it up yet, so I set an alarm for the morning and checked at 6:45 EST. They had opened it up at 6 and were already booked up. I called and the cast member I spoke to said they would open up each new date at 6 EST to keep checking for dates. But then they opened up the next day at midnight! So all sold out again. So frustrating! Hope they have more clarification with BBB opening so that people are able to get an appointment.
My daughter is beyond excited about the BBB return. Starting with her 3rd birthday it’s been our tradition for her birthday to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and get a makeover. Just booked our hotel stay last week, and now we know she’ll get her makeover too! Of course, she wants the highest tier package since we have 2 years to make up for!
Hey Tom, freaking out about the rumor posted on several wdw blogs about park hopping possibly requiring park pass reservations in the near future. I trust and value your work, so if you could please look into that, would be very appreciated.
WDW needs to be LESS restrictive, not MORE.
Also, don’t they realize that people usually use PH to hop to a less crowded park when the one they are in is too busy, thereby extending their park day and dollars spent at wdw? This is such a bad idea, on many fronts.
We have used PH for every trip. We would not get it if it required park pass reservations- what an absolutely terrible idea.
Appreciate your commentary.
Hi there!
How exciting that the BBB is reopening! I am bringing my son’s family to DW in October and will definitely want to bring my granddaughter to the Boutique. Once it does reopen, how do I make a reservation? Will you keep us informed of BBB updates?
Thank you!
I would hope Disney would open Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in time for the Halloween parties.
Something would have to go terribly wrong for BBB to not open by then. My expectation is still July…but previously, I figured it’d be open by this month given the progress they had already made in hiring.
We love the Harmony barber shop and are so happy to see it return. Both my girls received their first haircuts there, and for a while they would only get subsequent haircuts there. Spoiled much hahaha!?! They never asked for BBB, but always requested the barber shop. 🙂 We’re hoping to get in as walk-ins when we visit in July.
Awesome news! Harmony was a special place; who would have thought about getting a haircut on vacation? But we did and we have annual pictures of each haircut by the same barber.
I hope the original barbers come back. They were the only cast members we recognized year after year.
