Earl of Sandwich Restaurant Makes Triumphant Return to Downtown Disney With Its Largest Location

Our long national nightmare is over. Earl of Sandwich once again has a permanent home at in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, debuting its largest restaurant to date. Here are details, photos, menus & more about the brand-new location.

According to the Earl, not only is this new sandwich shop its largest location anywhere, but it’s also the most immersive location. Judging by the images released, that sounds like a bit of PR puffery, but we’re just excited to have Earl of Sandwich again–and in a permanent venue! (There was a whole two day or so gap when the temporary trailer over by the old Rainforest Cafe was closed!)

The new Earl of Sandwich restaurant will purportedly introduce entirely new ways for guests to experience the brand while honoring the heritage and hospitality that have defined it for generations, according to the Earl. The chain was founded by hospitality entrepreneur Robert Earl in partnership with the Montagu family, including the 11th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, and his son Orlando “Magic” Montagu (not his real nickname, but it should be).

The Earl of Sandwich brand traces its heritage to 1762, when the 4th Earl of Sandwich inspired one of the world’s most iconic meals. In addition to its world-famous toasted sandwiches, the new Downtown Disney District location introduces The Carvery, a centerpiece experience where premium pastrami is carved fresh throughout the day in full view of guests.

Blending craftsmanship with a sense of theater, The Carvery showcases the preparation behind the new Earl’s Pastrami, layered with premium slow-cooked pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, Dijonnaise, and Thousand Island on marbled rye. Also located within Earl of Sandwich is The Pub, which invites guests to linger over draft beers, wines, frozen cocktails, and refreshing seasonal beverages.

Here’s the full menu for the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney:

You better believe I’ll be ordering that $19 Whole Roasted Pastrami Sandwich (for research). And if there’s a way to supersize it with more meat & cheese, I’ll be doing that too (also for research). I’ll also have comprehensive coverage of the Pizza Bread. Sarah is on salad review duties.

Guests can still enjoy fan-favorites like The Full Montagu and The Original 1762, alongside cold-cut deli sandwiches, handcrafted wraps, fresh salads, and other Earl of Sandwich classics. Beyond sandwiches, guests can enjoy oversized cookies loaded with toppings, cinnamon rolls, and seasonal specialties from the expanded bakery.

Here’s what Robert Earl had to say:

“We didn’t want to simply build another Earl of Sandwich. We wanted to create a destination worthy of the Downtown Disney District. Earl of Sandwich has always been rooted in a remarkable story, but history alone isn’t enough. As Downtown Disney enters an exciting new chapter, we saw an opportunity to reimagine what Earl of Sandwich could be alongside it. This new location honors our heritage while creating moments of discovery around every corner, all while delivering the quality, exceptional value, and hospitality our guests have come to expect from us.”

To commemorate the occasion, Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl of Sandwich and direct descendant of the dignitary behind one of the world’s most beloved foods, will travel to Anaheim, California for the grand opening celebration on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Expect Disneyland security to be tighter than Fort Knox with royalty in town, for an occasion that’s sure to be reminiscent of when the Beatles first came to America. Perhaps there will be a parade. If not, the Earl should be given Belle’s spot in Paint the Night on that date.

More than 260 years after the sandwich first entered popular culture, his appearance offers a fitting tribute to the brand’s extraordinary heritage, bringing the story of the sandwich full circle for a new generation of guests.

Located at the far end of Downtown Disney District towards Disneyland Hotel, Earl of Sandwich is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. As noted in the press release, this is Earl’s largest location, which I assume is including the upstairs gastropub. (Otherwise, surely the two-story Disneyland Paris outpost is bigger?)

As you might recall, Disney announced last October that Chef Gordon Ramsay is taking his talents to Earl of Sandwich, opening an all-new 1960s British-themed gastropub called The Carnaby on the second level of the huge new restaurant coming to Disneyland Resort. That location is not yet open as part of this, and does not yet have a debut date. It’s entirely possible it’ll be ready to roll by July 15, 2026, but it feels like it would’ve been mentioned if that were the case.

This new location in Downtown Disney comes at what has been an, ahem, tumultuous few years decade for Earl of Sandwich at Disneyland Resort. The sandwich shop went from being evicted from their signature location for a luxury hotel that was not built to having multiple temporary locations.

When La Brea Bakery abruptly closed, Earl stepped up to the plate within hours. When Porto’s delayed construction, Earl immediately extended operations. The pop-up pod has ping-ponged between being open and closed based on other operational needs of Disneyland. It’s been amusing to watch this saga.

There was one point last year when Earl of Sandwich seemed poised to lose both temporary locations, as construction was slated to begin on Porto’s Bakery, but that was delayed. Fast forward to Summer 2026, and it’s full steam ahead on the massive Porto’s Bakery and Earl of Sandwich finally has a permanent home.

That permanent home, ironically enough, is a stone’s throw from its original home. The resiliency of the Earl is truly remarkable. Disneyland must be a cornerstone of his business plan, because they’ve jumped through some serious hoops to remain operational for the last decade or so. You’ve really gotta hand it to the royals on this one.

My recap of this saga really doesn’t do it justice. The turnaround times on the Earl of Sandwich news have been comically absurd, as if some Disneyland executive has Lord John Montagu on speed dial and calls him up for pinch hitting sandwich duties every time Downtown Disney has problems with other tenants.

And all of this after Disney closed their original location for, again, a hotel that they did not end up building. (Come to think of it, maybe the Earl has Stockholm Syndrome?!)

It’s great to see Disneyland finally reciprocate in this relationship, and facilitate the permanent placement of a formidable sandwich shop in Downtown Disney. We’re really looking forward to this two-story Earl of Sandwich!

Thus far in 2026, we’ve dined at Earl of Sandwich more than any other Disney restaurant in the entire world. More than GCH Craftsman Grill, more than any of the waterfront lounges at Walt Disney World, and even more than Tony’s Town Square or Rainforest Cafe!

Whenever we’re in Paris, we eat at Earl of Sandwich. That’s a really weird sentence to type, and one that sounds “very American.” But that’s only because Disney refuses to serve edible cuisine at most restaurants in the parks, and declines to operate the locations that are borderline okayish after 4:38 pm. So Earl of Sandwich nightly after park closing every single night at DLP it is!

We also eat at Earl of Sandwich often when leaving Disneyland. No good excuse for that one. There are just times when we think we’re not hungry, can wait until we get home, or will get In-N-Out on the way home…only to realize all of those ambitions are unrealistic, and the quickest option is a pit stop at the Earl truck before walking to Pixar Pals. Now this location will fill that void.

Suffice to say, it’s good to have the Earl back on his right throne with a permanent, large, and immersive (?) location at Disneyland. Can’t wait to “research” this venue by eating everything on the menu.

We’re really looking forward to Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, and hoping that ends up being something special. It has the potential to match the atmospheric quality of Parkside Market’s second floor with the cuisine caliber of Centrico, but while bringing something unique to the table as a 1960s inspired British gastropub. This has the potential to be a winning combo, and one of the best restaurant concepts in Downtown Disney’s ever-improving dining scene!
