Food Guide for 2024 Jollywood Nights Christmas Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Walt Disney World has shared a sneak peek at the dishes, drinks & desserts during the 2024 Jollywood Nights Christmas Party at Hollywood Studios. This food guide offers a full list and photos of the snacks and other special items available for purchase during this hard ticket event, followed by ‘constructive’ commentary at the end.
As a reminder, Disney Jollywood Nights (DJN) is “counter-programming” of sorts for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom (MVMCP). This party will be held from November 9 through December 21, 2024, and will include some new additions that will bring the holiday cheer.
No dates of the 2024 Disney Jollywood Nights are sold out…yet. We expect that to change in the coming weeks once Walt Disney World kicks the Christmas marketing blitz into high gear (which will probably start any day now that MNSSHP is totally sold out). Point being, we’d expect dates to start selling out in October, likely beginning with opening night.
We don’t expect all dates to sell out until the parties begin in November, so if you’re a local waiting for reviews before making a decision, you might have time. But tourists with only one or two nights to choose from to do DJN might need to get off the fence before reading our or other reviews. Same goes for MVMCP, which has already sold out its opening night.
To that point, we’re put together a list of pros & cons for the party in Disney Jollywood Nights vs. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party: Which to Attend? Despite a fairly awful experience last year, I’m very bullish on this year’s Jollywood Nights. All of my key criticisms seem to have been addressed, and there have been some additions that sound intriguing. (Not to mention the Muppets merchandise…) I’m honestly more excited for the 2024 Jollywood Nights than I am for MVMCP, but I’m also not representative of the average guest–and certainly not a first timer.
Anyway, let’s dig into the photos & list of the food & drinks at the 2024 Disney Jollywood Nights Christmas Party…

Turning to commentary, I want to start by giving sincere kudos to the food stylist and photographer who did this photo shoot for Walt Disney World. Seriously some of the best food photography I’ve ever seen. The bokeh looks fantastic and the images still manage to clearly convey each dish–they aren’t just artsy. That’s a tough balancing act.
Part of the reason the food photos are gorgeous is because the dishes themselves look fantastic. Which brings me to a general grievance I also had with Magic Kingdom’s Halloween menus: why can’t we get food like this all day long?! Walt Disney World’s menus are still scaled back, and although DHS isn’t as bad as MK, there’s clear room for improvement. Seriously, can you imagine getting food that’s actually edible at PizzeRizzo?! Me neither. (I know, I know…it’s rat pizza, so what they serve is technically on-theme!)
Beyond that, I’ll once again reup my sentiment from last year: is it possible for the dishes, desserts & drinks lineup to be too good?! I’m not even being sarcastic. The food & beverages for Disney Jollywood Nights go hard. Maybe a little too hard? As with last year, my worry is that Walt Disney World is expecting attendees to spend a lot of time and more money wining and dining, and not “doing things.” Food should be the icing on the cake, not an actual selling point of the event.
Last year, that concern turned out to be correct. There was not enough worthwhile filler at Jollywood Nights if you opted not to eat. As a result of that, the lines for every dining location were really long. At least, during the opening night party that I attended. I didn’t plan on eating much in the first place and managed to get my food-fill during a couple visits to the Brown Derby where everything was fantastic. (My favorite was the sliders–highly recommended.)
On the other hand, I thought the Gertie cookie was incredibly underwhelming and hyped only for the sake of social media photos. (Seriously, Publix has superior sugar cookies.) But that wasn’t exactly surprising–it’s basically a ‘what you see is what you get’ kinda items.
The difference with the 2024 Jollywood Nights is that Walt Disney World has already received a lot of feedback and even began making changes during last year’s Christmas party season. By all accounts, the process for purchasing food & beverages was much more streamlined and lines were shorter.
With that said, most subsequent events did not sell out and there was a wave of cancellations after the abysmal opening night reviews. So it’s entirely possible that some of the same issues–at least with lines–crop up again with 2024 Jollywood Nights dates that sell out. Especially earlier in the season before the event finds its groove.
Nevertheless, I’m confident Walt Disney World has learned from that debacle (because they’ve demonstrated as much!) and that the 2024 Disney Jollywood Nights will be much smoother on the food front. I’m also heartened that Disney listened to guest feedback and was so quick to make adjustments. That also demonstrates why it’s important for consumers to give negative feedback when it’s due, and not just blindly praise everything the company does. This is how things should be.
In that spirit, I’m going to give Walt Disney World a piece of preemptive feedback: change over to these menus at select locations during the mix-in.
I understand that Walt Disney World wants exclusive food and drinks as a selling point and as a substantive offering to get people to potentially purchase tickets to multiple dates. But I’m not convinced anyone aside from the most obsessive bloggers, vloggers, and influencers are doing that (I’m certainly not).
Regardless of the number of attendees who would do that, there’s a larger audience who would appreciate the opportunity to eat special dishes before the event starts. And that would improve those guests’ satisfaction of Jollywood Nights, which is a win the party needs.
It doesn’t even have to be all or nothing! Disney could change over the menus at 6 pm for PizzeRizzo, Ice Cold Hydraulics, and ABC Commissary–locations deeper in the park that are often slower during the evening hours–and it would be the perfect compromise.
Obviously, I can’t speak for everyone, but that would get us to spend more money at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For us, it’s not between spending extra money to eat during the event or eating in the park prior to it. That’s a false choice. We value our limited party time and will simply feast before arriving in the park–potentially not spending that money at Walt Disney World at all–if it’s only the normal DHS menus during mix-in. Given the appeal of Jollywood Nights among locals, APs and DVC members, I know we cannot be alone in that. Food for thought, Walt Disney World.

How long does dining take at Brown Derby? The menu looks great but I don’t want to lose an hour+ of party time for table service dining.
And if anyone works — for quick service specialty menu items, is online ordering available during the party?
Brown Derby was pretty quick for our group, but I also always request the check while I’m still eating. The food arrived promptly, though.
I would hesitate to put too much weight on reports from last year–so much will come down to staffing and how quickly they want/need to turn tables over this year. I’d imagine there’s far less demand for Brown Derby this year since the experience wasn’t quite what most fans were expecting.
Love your commentary on the Event and food offerings, Tom. After attending last year’s MNSSHP and spending quite a bit on “fancy looking” food items, I’m on the fence about attending this. It just feels like a cash grab and forcing you to buy food, especially since this event doesn’t offer even drinks, popcorn or ice cream treats included with your ticket like the MK ones do.
I do hope they offer at least some of these items during the mix-in hours. As awesome as the food looks,I’d hate to waste too much valueable event time standing in line. Waiting to see too, if some “must have” popcorn bucket will be released requiring even more line time.
Just to be clear, drinks, popcorn and ice cream treats are not included at the MK Halloween and Christmas party events. They will be included at After Hours events (regardless of park) once they start up again in January, but not at the MK holiday parties.
The post was very good, I appreciate how you explain it, Keep the posts coming! Very good talent.
We are going in December with a group of four couples. What is a good time to book the Brown Derby event so we don’t miss out on too much park entertainment?.
Thanks for all your great information and advice!
My family and I are going in December, very much looking forward to it. This post will come in very useful. Thanks, Tom!
The Gertie cookie looks so adorable! I hope the MK Christmas party starts to include more savory options as well.
I’m so torn with this event (still!). The food looks amazing. But it costs additional and it’s already very expensive. Besides the odd character and the NBC there isn’t loads more that takes my interest.
BUT THE FOOD OMG.
I feel like this has reached tipping point for me if I’m honest. It just feels like Disney greed and this is going to be out of reach for so many people.
