The video provides an overview of Walt Disney World or Disneyland (you choose), with beautiful footage of the parks, hotels, special events, and more. This video will tug at your heart strings (we all know Disney is incredibly skilled at this sort of thing), and sometimes this emotional approach is just what’s needed. Please note that as of 2019, it appears Walt Disney World is no longer sending out copies of the DVD by mail. The video is streaming-exclusive, at least for the time being. (We’re guessing that this is a permanent change given the rise of streaming and fall of media-based video consumption. It’s also probably cheaper for Disney.

That’s right, “Welcome Bricker Family,” indeed! 🙂

While you’ll find some content here that will emotionally resonate, the fact is that’s not the goal of our blog posts. We weigh the pros and cons of everything from hotels to restaurants to tickets and beyond to help you spend your money wisely and get the must bang for your buck with posts like our Walt Disney World Planning Guide or Disneyland Planning Guide.

Unless you want your kids to view you as a drill sergeant, resources like this video are an awesome way of balancing out strategical tips & tricks on our blog, with something fun. Plus, it’s a nice keepsake…and did we mention free?! (Ha, we’re obviously over-emphasizing that bit, but seriously, how often do you get something totally free from Disney?)

If you are just starting to plan your first visit to Disneyland or Walt Disney World, this video can also be an excellent resource. It provides background info that’s helpful before digging into comprehensive material on blogs or unofficial guidebooks. Sometimes, we have a tendency to presume knowledge of certain things in our posts, and this video is a good primer to make sure you have that knowledge.

Even if you have visited numerous times, ordering the free Disney Parks Planning video is still a great way to get hyped up for your next trip.

We order the new edition of the video every year. We like to build anticipation by watching the newest version of this video, and other specials we’ve collected. While they aren’t incredibly helpful in terms of planning, they are fun, and that matters, too!

  1. TWICE I ordered the DVD, months before our November/December 2 week 2016 Disneyworld trip. Never have received it.
Though our visit has come and gone, should I reorder it again anyway? I am having serious Disney withdrawals, and may consider a visit to Disneyland this Spring- and perhaps another trip to WDW! Can I order for both parks, even though it says order for only one?

    1. I’m not going to “officially” tell you to order both, but…given how unorganized the whole thing is on Disney’s end, I highly doubt they’d have any way of telling if you did. Now, there’s a chance that either/both still might not get to you, but I doubt that would be a result of “the system” catching your double order. 🙂

    2. OK, I’ll try again!
So, I am overdue in saying a huge thank you, for all your blogs and posts, that made our trip so wonderful! Your photos are awesome and your advice and insights are spot on. Had never been during the holidays before and our trips are few and far between, but with your help, we were able to experience 99% of all I had hoped and planned for- and I planned for a year for this trip!
I do so wish for a do-over though. Day #3 of our 2 weeks there, I came down with some kind of nasty crud, despite all my hand sanitizing, avoiding sick people, etc. Even the antibiotic RX from the urgent care didn’t help. But, as my husband says, “I powered through it”. I did have my best 2 naps at the Hall of Presidents, but wish I’d actually seen the show…
You’d think I would be over my Disney obsession by now, but I really am going through withdrawals.
Again, thank you!!! Happy New Year to you and Sarah! Hope to see you at Disneyland!

  2. How much different is the 2017 DVD than 2016/15? Is it still the same “interview” format with the four different WDW cast members?

    1. Yeah, unfortunately it’s only valid in the United States. Odd, because it *used* to be available to anyone… 🙁

    2. It’s definately sad. I live in Canada too and I have a few older ones at home and I no longer order the dvds. I f remember correctly they changed it last year.

    1. How long ago did you order? I know there was a period of time when no one was getting them, and my *guess* would be that’s as they were switching over from the 2016 to 2017 edition. Hopefully those backorders will be fulfilled? If it’s been more than 4 weeks, I’d probably just re-order it, personally…

  3. I want to order this DVD, but we’re going to be surprising our kids Christmas morning with the gift of a Disney trip. Will this DVD come in a plain, unidentifiable envelope? I’m nervous about ordering now and ruining the surprise when we get a Disney envelope in the mail. Thanks for any advice you can give.

    1. The envelope for this year’s says “Disney Parks” right on it, and I’d assume the 2017 edition is also clearly Disney marketing. You could play it off as being unsolicited junk mail, or you might wait a bit to order it. (Also, even if you order today, there’s a good chance it won’t arrive before Christmas. These things take 2-3 weeks to come.)

  4. I am trying to click on tghe imGe but it is not an option. In readiing the comments I see I am not the only one having trouble receiving or getting this DVD. We are planning our trip for Sept 2017 and I would really like a copy of this before we beging our planning. Steve

    1. Hmmm…it appears to be working fine for me. Are you outside of the United States? If so, that’s probably the issue. In the past, this offer has been blocked for non-US IP addresses.

    2. I don’t even get the “image” below to click onto to get the DVD. Leaving CA in 2 1/2 weeks for FL. HOW CAN I GET THIS ASAP? Thanks

      Barbara Bray

  5. Much the same as others, I have been not able get the DVD sent. I have gotten follow-up postcards trusting I have delighted in the DVD. Is there some other contact as I might want to see this for our 2017 get-away at Disney World.

    1. The 2017 DVD *just* became available, so if you still haven’t received this year’s edition, you might want to sign up again! 🙂

  6. Just like others, I have been unable to get the DVD sent. I have received follow-up postcards hoping I have enjoyed the DVD. Is there some other contact as I would like to see this for our 2017 vacation at Disney World.

    1. Hi Tom

I am a subscriber to your newsletter but unable to get this Planning DVD, I am in New Zealand and planning vacay for July 2017.

Any advice to get the DVD would be appreciated,

      thanks
      Feroza

  7. Disney’s website says they currently only send the planning DVD to addressed within the USA. I am in Canada..any suggestions?

  8. I clicked on the link and filled in the info, but instead of sending a DVD they just presented links to different vacation planning videos that can be watched online. I did get a packet in the mail as a follow-up, just a generic “come to Disney!” mailer. Maybe they aren’t sending DVDs any more?

    1. I know there was a “brief interruption” as they were supposedly switching the DVD over to a newer version–this would’ve been maybe 2-3 weeks ago–but before that (and now) they are should be sending out DVDs.
