How to Register for TRON Lightcycle Run Preview Dates
Walt Disney World has sent out invitation emails and opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom. We have the details and how to register for that and DVC preview in case you’re one of the many who did not receive an email.
TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview reservations may be made by any eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholder. You do NOT need the TRON Lightcycle Run AP invitation email–all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!
You also will not need to make a separate Disney Park Pass reservation to enter Magic Kingdom on the date of your TRON Lightcycle Run preview, but applicable Walt Disney World AP blockout dates DO apply. Fortunately, there are plenty of options for the previews, so avoiding days you’re blocked out should be relatively easy–so long as you act ASAP and get registered before the events fill up!
Let’s start with the Disney Vacation Club preview details. DVC is offering members and their guests a sneak peek of TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom before it opens to the general public. Confirmed DVC preview dates are March 4, 5 & 6.
Registration for the *DISNEY VACATION CLUB* Preview begins February 16, 2023 at 11 am EST. You can join the waiting room for the virtual queue right now by clicking here. (DO NOT USE THIS LINK FOR THE AP PREVIEW–THEY AREN’T THE SAME!)
When registration officially opens, that page will refresh and you will be placed into the virtual queue in random order, regardless of how early you joined the waiting room page. Those who enter after booking begins will be placed in numerical order.
This randomization means that there’s no upside to joining at 9:08 am versus 10:59 am, but both have an advantage over those who join the virtual queue at 11:01 am tomorrow. It’s all randomized up until 11 am.
As for Annual Passholder previews, here are Walt Disney World’s normal boilerplate terms and conditions for AP previews: Limit one preview registration per Passholder. Capacity and space are limited, and subject to availability. Registrations are valid only during specific preview dates and hours. Entry is not guaranteed. Advance registration required. Valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass Card and valid photo ID required at check-in.
Preview registration and entry are non transferable and void if sold or otherwise transferred. Operating hours, activities and locations are subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability. This preview registration does not require an additional Disney Park Pass Theme Park reservation to enter Magic Kingdom on the day of your preview. Valid Theme Park admission required for entry and subject to applicable pass blockouts.
For whatever reason, only some Annual Passholders receive the emailed version of these invites. It’s not because they’re the only ones eligible…that’s just how Disney’s communications system seems to work. Our batting average for anything from Walt Disney World, whether it be paper mailers, magnets, or emails, is about .500, at best.
To register for the FREE TRON Lightcycle Run Annual Passholder Previews at Walt Disney World, we recommend doing the following:
- Open an incognito/private browser window
- Sign-in on DisneyWorld.com
- CLICK HERE!

Annual Passholder preview dates for TRON Lightcycle Run are March 4-6, 2023 and March 8-12, 2023.
It strikes us as interesting and a bit peculiar that DVC and AP previews are occurring back to back (and the media event is scheduled immediately after these previews end), with nothing scheduled for 2+ weeks before the official opening of TRON Lightcycle Run. Very interesting…
Here’s the email that went out, in case you didn’t receive it and are curious as to what it looks like for whatever reason:
As usual, Sarah received this but I did not. I’ve tried every trick in the book to get AP emails from Walt Disney World, and nothing has worked. I haven’t received anything in the last year-plus.
Anyway, here is the process for registering, along with a couple of important tips to avoid further headaches…
While you’re in the waiting room, we STRONGLY recommend that you copy the queue ID. That’s your unique code, and will allow you to keep your place in the queue if something happens. With Disney’s new virtual waiting room system, you should always do this–not just for this TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview.
In fact, something did happen to me last time I was attempting to register for an AP preview: Stitch ate my page. I’ve had the same thing happen on a couple of occasions when trying to buy tickets for Disneyland special events (there have also been times when I’ve needed to move from my desktop to phone). In all of those instances, I simply copy and pasted that link into a new browser tab and picked up where I left off. Phew.
Since we’re trying to get this up as quickly as possible so it’s of maximum value to all of you, we’re posting this while still in the TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview queue ourselves. We’ll update this with screenshots and more specific advice, details, and info once we complete the registration process.
For now, above and below are screenshots from last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP registration progress. Those were identical to the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure AP preview the year before, and the one before that, so we’re guessing that this will be a pretty good preview of the AP preview process for TRON! 😉
Here’s the first screen you should expect to encounter after the wait is over.
Pretty standard info to click through. Be sure the registered guest list shows anyone you want to join you.
Unfortunately for those of you who are not Annual Passholders, the sheer volume of preview dates means general public soft openings are pretty unlikely. It’s always possible there will be some scattered in there, but we highly doubt it.
Walt Disney World hasn’t done soft openings for a major attraction in several years–it’s all been these controlled, pre-registered previews for select guests.
Finally, other terms from Walt Disney World, per the registration page:
Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of the event or when event reaches capacity (whichever occurs first). Event experience and available offerings are subject to change without notice and advance registration is required. You have 5 minutes to complete your selection before availability is released. Once a request has been submitted, you will not be able to modify your reservation.
For each event, the calendar displays dates based on availability and the group size you entered.
How to Modify Your Selection BEFORE Completing Transaction
- To remove a Passholder from your group, please select “Back” to return to Step 1 and edit your Guest List.
- To remove an event from your list, please select “Release Reservation” under the Special Events section.
After finishing registration, you’ll receive a confirmation screen with additional details.
What to Bring to the Event
- Valid Annual Pass and a government-issued photo ID for each registered Passholder
- One printed copy of your confirmation page
Reservations
- Limit one preview registration per Annual Passholder.
- Valid admission for Magic Kingdom is required for park entry. Applicable Passholder blockout dates apply.
- Advance preview registration is required. Valid, activated Walt Disney World Annual Pass is required to register.
- A separate theme park reservation to enter Magic Kingdom on the day of the preview is not required.
- Event capacity is limited. The number of registrations for this event is limited and subject to availability. Entry is not guaranteed.
- Activities and attractions subject to change without notice.
- Valid, activated Annual Pass and valid photo ID are required at check-in for each Passholder.
- Registrations are nontransferable and void if sold or otherwise transferred.
- Modifications to registrations are not permitted.
- Passholders with confirmed reservations will receive an additional email with details on how to check in for their reservation 3 to 5 business days in advance of their selected event date.
- Event, parks, attractions and other offerings are subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability.
- If a Passholder would like to register a Guest to accompany them, that Guest must also have a valid Disney Pixie Dust Pass, Disney Pirate Pass, Disney Sorcerer Pass, Disney Incredi-Pass, Disney Platinum Plus Pass, Disney Platinum Pass, Disney Gold Pass, Disney Silver Pass, Disney Theme Park Select Pass, Disney Weekday Select Pass, or Premier annual pass; and be listed on your Family & Friends list; and have opted to share “All My Plans” with you.

I received an email, followed all the instructions, didn’t touch my screen for 3 hrs. Got 10 to 11 time slot March 8. Pretty stoked!!!
Well- this kind of stinks for us. We are regular day visitors that weekend because it’s projected to be one of the quieter times to go. We planned our whole trip around historical trends. Now the MK will have larger than originally planned attendance in those days. March 4-6 in particular. Bummer.

Hi, Tom. In your opinion and experience, do you think there could be a soft opening during the time from when the previews end to the official opening of April 4? I also find it very interesting that there is nothing scheduled for that 2+ weeks period immediately before the official opening. I’m SO hoping they will have a soft opening as my family and I will be there March 16-24. So our dates fell outside the DVC and AP (which we are both) preview dates.
Just for comparison, I received an email at 9:03am Eastern, but didn’t see it for probably half an hour. I used the email link sometime around 9:30 (best guess) and sat through the entire que, but did not make the cut (virtual line closed around 12:30). I thought we lucked out by already have an on-property visit booked (coincidence), but I guess we’ll be living vicariously through others. At least I didn’t get in to find out the only available spot was the day we fly home! Congratulations to those who got in.
After all the waiting (over three hours while the waiting time went from over an hour, to counting down to 21 minutes, and then back to over an hour), and no passholder preview, they were all out. I logged on right away! Don’t know what happened, very upsetting.
Same thing happened to me, Kelly. I was about 75% into my status bar and it kicked me out and started over! I did not refresh so I know it wasn’t that. I was so angry. Then about 45-50 minutes into that queue it said it anticipated tickets would be gone in 15 minutes. Sure enough, screen changed to This Event is Full. Had I known in advance the preview dates were 4-6 and 8-12 I wouldn’t have wasted my time. My vacation dates are March 16-24. Bummer 🙁
I am beginning to think there is a conspiracy for us to add days to a trip to make these previews. Two of the preview dates are part of an upcoming trip and oddly enough those two dates weren’t available to select. So we chose the day before. We got registered at 9:06 and shortly after changed our flight and added a day to the trip. Same thing happened for Guardians and Remy.
did anyone’s hold time jump from 32 min and then back to over an hour??

Yep. Virtual Queues must be taking after the real queues in terms of sneaky line jumpers. I’d like to know how in the world the queue line gets LONGER when my spot in line is supposed to be “saved” in a virtual queue.
Queue closed at 12:32 due to capacity being reached. Bummer.
It seems odd that if in line at 9:07 still got closed out. Random? Not sure this is totally accurate. So disappointing as seems rather odd!

Do you know if it’s possible to check the ride out but not actually ride it? My 13 year old is desperate to ride it but I do NOT do thrill rides (high BP, I pass out, I just don’t like them, etc.). I’m wondering if I can go with him but bail out before getting on the ride. Any idea?

If it’s a standby queue, you can bail at the end. They usually ask if anyone wants to exit and I’ve seen people do that on tower of terror, Avatar, and Aerosmith.
Since this will probably be a virtual queue, they probably won’t let you do that, but you can always ask.
What the heck?! Got the update that they anticipate they’ll reach capacity in 10-15 minutes, and my queues were all at around 20 minutes. Then they all jump to 30 minutes, then 50, now they’re back over an hour! How do you actually get line jumped in a virtual queue?
I had the same thing happen and I was also wondering that!
Aaaaand reached capacity at 12:32pm. I was at less than 20 minutes at 12:09pm when they gave the first capacity warning. At 12:32pm all my queues had reverted to right back to “more than an hour.” This just makes no sense. And yet, I can’t believe this still surprises me.
Does anyone know if you are allowed to do BOTH annual pass and DVC previews? We’re worried that if we book DVC, too, our AP reservation will get cancelled.
