How to Register for TRON Lightcycle Run Preview Dates
Walt Disney World has sent out invitation emails and opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom. We have the details and how to register for that and DVC preview in case you’re one of the many who did not receive an email.
TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview reservations may be made by any eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholder. You do NOT need the TRON Lightcycle Run AP invitation email–all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!
You also will not need to make a separate Disney Park Pass reservation to enter Magic Kingdom on the date of your TRON Lightcycle Run preview, but applicable Walt Disney World AP blockout dates DO apply. Fortunately, there are plenty of options for the previews, so avoiding days you’re blocked out should be relatively easy–so long as you act ASAP and get registered before the events fill up!
Let’s start with the Disney Vacation Club preview details. DVC is offering members and their guests a sneak peek of TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom before it opens to the general public. Confirmed DVC preview dates are March 4, 5 & 6.
Registration for the *DISNEY VACATION CLUB* Preview begins February 16, 2023 at 11 am EST. You can join the waiting room for the virtual queue right now by clicking here. (DO NOT USE THIS LINK FOR THE AP PREVIEW–THEY AREN’T THE SAME!)
When registration officially opens, that page will refresh and you will be placed into the virtual queue in random order, regardless of how early you joined the waiting room page. Those who enter after booking begins will be placed in numerical order.
This randomization means that there’s no upside to joining at 9:08 am versus 10:59 am, but both have an advantage over those who join the virtual queue at 11:01 am tomorrow. It’s all randomized up until 11 am.
As for Annual Passholder previews, here are Walt Disney World’s normal boilerplate terms and conditions for AP previews: Limit one preview registration per Passholder. Capacity and space are limited, and subject to availability. Registrations are valid only during specific preview dates and hours. Entry is not guaranteed. Advance registration required. Valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass Card and valid photo ID required at check-in.
Preview registration and entry are non transferable and void if sold or otherwise transferred. Operating hours, activities and locations are subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability. This preview registration does not require an additional Disney Park Pass Theme Park reservation to enter Magic Kingdom on the day of your preview. Valid Theme Park admission required for entry and subject to applicable pass blockouts.
For whatever reason, only some Annual Passholders receive the emailed version of these invites. It’s not because they’re the only ones eligible…that’s just how Disney’s communications system seems to work. Our batting average for anything from Walt Disney World, whether it be paper mailers, magnets, or emails, is about .500, at best.
To register for the FREE TRON Lightcycle Run Annual Passholder Previews at Walt Disney World, we recommend doing the following:

Note that this link is sometimes temperamental. You may have to log-out of My Disney Experience, log back in, etc., in order to get it to work.
Annual Passholder preview dates for TRON Lightcycle Run are March 4-6, 2023 and March 8-12, 2023.
It strikes us as interesting and a bit peculiar that DVC and AP previews are occurring back to back (and the media event is scheduled immediately after these previews end), with nothing scheduled for 2+ weeks before the official opening of TRON Lightcycle Run. Very interesting…
Here’s the email that went out, in case you didn’t receive it and are curious as to what it looks like for whatever reason:
As usual, Sarah received this but I did not. I’ve tried every trick in the book to get AP emails from Walt Disney World, and nothing has worked. I haven’t received anything in the last year-plus.
Anyway, here is the process for registering, along with a couple of important tips to avoid further headaches…
While you’re in the waiting room, we STRONGLY recommend that you copy the queue ID. That’s your unique code, and will allow you to keep your place in the queue if something happens. With Disney’s new virtual waiting room system, you should always do this–not just for this TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview.
In fact, something did happen to me last time I was attempting to register for an AP preview: Stitch ate my page. I’ve had the same thing happen on a couple of occasions when trying to buy tickets for Disneyland special events (there have also been times when I’ve needed to move from my desktop to phone). In all of those instances, I simply copy and pasted that link into a new browser tab and picked up where I left off. Phew.
Since we’re trying to get this up as quickly as possible so it’s of maximum value to all of you, we’re posting this while still in the TRON Lightcycle Run AP preview queue ourselves. We’ll update this with screenshots and more specific advice, details, and info once we complete the registration process.
For now, above and below are screenshots from last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind AP registration progress. Those were identical to the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure AP preview the year before, and the one before that, so we’re guessing that this will be a pretty good preview of the AP preview process for TRON! 😉
Here’s the first screen you should expect to encounter after the wait is over.
Pretty standard info to click through. Be sure the registered guest list shows anyone you want to join you.
Unfortunately for those of you who are not Annual Passholders, the sheer volume of preview dates means general public soft openings are pretty unlikely. It’s always possible there will be some scattered in there, but we highly doubt it.
Walt Disney World hasn’t done soft openings for a major attraction in several years–it’s all been these controlled, pre-registered previews for select guests.
Finally, other terms from Walt Disney World, per the registration page:
Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of the event or when event reaches capacity (whichever occurs first). Event experience and available offerings are subject to change without notice and advance registration is required. You have 5 minutes to complete your selection before availability is released. Once a request has been submitted, you will not be able to modify your reservation.
For each event, the calendar displays dates based on availability and the group size you entered.
How to Modify Your Selection BEFORE Completing Transaction
- To remove a Passholder from your group, please select “Back” to return to Step 1 and edit your Guest List.
- To remove an event from your list, please select “Release Reservation” under the Special Events section.
After finishing registration, you’ll receive a confirmation screen with additional details.

Finally, apologies for any typos, errors, or anything else–I tried to get this up and revised in a hurry so it would be as helpful as possible to as many readers as possible!
Good luck everyone!!!

Thank you Tom!
Got it
We are going then and were really disappointed that TRON would not be open yet.
Received email at 9:02am, in the queue at 9:03am. Reserved two pass for Sunday 3/5 at 11:37am
This is the first EVER time I got the email (been an AP for seven years!). I clicked the link at 9:04, received the “more than one hour wait” notice, and had my reservation by 10:55. Surprisingly, there were quite more slots to reserve than I expected. I hope everyone gets to obtain a reservation today!! Good luck all!!
I’m starting to get marathon registration anxiety waiting in this queue. My son is counting on me to get 2 passes. Fingers crossed that I will have good news for him.
Is it possible to register for AP preview AND the DVC previews? Asking for a friend. 😉
I’m such an idiot. I knew these came out today and I completely forgot to set an alarm. I’ll just have to hope it’s fate telling me not to go, as I’m sure my queue status at this point is not going to get me anything. Unless these are also randomized…
“Over an hour” for over an hour now on all 3 devices and we got the email. I had to plug in my phone.
Welp, I got a “Something Went Wrong” error message when attempting to register, so looks like I will *not* be updating this with current screenshots. From what I did see, it’s exactly the same as the Cosmic Rewind process, so what’s here should be a pretty good indication of what you’ll see.
Now, back to the more than an hour wait…
Did that send you back to the beginning of the line?
Just wanted to share some encouragement for anyone waiting right now – I got in the queue a few minutes after 9:00am EST and completed my registration around 10:20. I was convinced there would be nothing to pick from but there were a ton of times left at that point. (I also forgot to log in before I entered the queue and thought all was lost because it took me to a generic page once I logged in, but my husband tried refreshing the tab and it went right to the guest selection page.) Best of luck to everyone still waiting!
Ugh I think I broke mine because I got in 9:17 and still in line. The progress bar isn’t even past 50%. Plugged into the wall but losing hope
Update: Got in around 12:16 – 3 days avail (9.,11,12) -sadly not days we could go.
Never been to a passholder preview before and was wondering, when you attend, can you ride more than once? Is it crazy long waits? Thanks for any info!
It’s totally inconsistent. We were able to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure more than once, but not Cosmic Rewind. Others had a different experience with Cosmic Rewind, and did it multiple times. I wouldn’t count on past precedent or anecdotal experiences being indicative of anything for this.
These DVC/AP queues to register for attraction rides are maddening. I’ve been watching influencers and vloggers going on their dozenth ride on Tron and the most loyal guests have to jump through these hoops and sit on an open phone or computer for half a day for even a chance at one ride. I know Disney doesn’t owe us anything more than what is stated in the fine print, (and this is a total first world problem), but it’s still disappointing. The DVC previews are only 3 days and you have to be booked with points at a DVC resort to even register. That was not the case with Cosmic Rewind. Plus Disney ITs track record doesn’t exactly instill me with the highest of confidence in the process. I’m happy at least for the cast members to have gotten the opportunity to ride.
We’re with you, this is now the THIRD one we missed out on, we got in the queue at 912am (I got the email at 906am but didn’t see it until 912am) and waited until 12:11pm, verifyied all our guests (there are 6 of us (my wife and our four kids) and we got 4 ‘choices’ on the 9th, but each time i clicked it says there aren’t enough slots available try again. Why would they have me verify and then not allow us to use the slots they gave us, so basically sat by the computer all morning for nothing…..and i also realized OTHER people, including my wife, got the emails EARLIER then us, she had one come on her email at 903am, so even by the time my email was received, there would have been others that had a ‘headstart’ on it. Why can’t they do it like the DVC event where you get in the virtual que BEFORE the time and then it’s random at least, this is kind of unfair since, A. you didn’t know the exact time, you have to ‘wait for the email’, and B. the emails are going out at way different times so it’s not fairly balanced anyway.
Tom, what do you think they will end up doing in the 2 weeks before 4/4? I’m AP and DVC but won’t be arriving until 4/1
I’m sitting in the queue currently, as of Feb 16th at 10:15. I got in at 9:06 eastern and had over an hour wait. Still in there and only 1/4 through the queue progress bar. IF there is enough space, it’ll be at least three more hours. It’s not looking good.
Got one! They still had Monday, Wed, Thursday and Friday available. it took almost three hours.
No offense but Sarah is better looking than you. Sorry but your mileage does NOT vary on that. If you’re batting .500 on the magnets I can tell you that “if you call them they will come”. I wonder if we get the AP invites because we are not in Florida? They serve as great incentives to visit when we may not have a trip planned. Obviously an out of state AP holder also means filling hotel rooms and restaurants as opposed to those living in FL who can do a one day pop in. Just a thought.
I was in the D23 Tron queue yesterday. Logged in early and got in line right away. In 10 minutes it was my turn and tickets were already sold out. I went back in line a couple more times just in case and still the same. They must have had a very small number for D23 people. Very disappointing. I hope everyone trying on here gets them.
I think your 11:00 am time may be wrong. Lots of AP folks posting they have already got through the queue and got reservations.
That’s DVC.
I got the email and am still in a queue that’s more than an hour (just to encourage people who are not feeling hopeful). This whole thing has me wondering– since they haven’t sold new passes in years, how many WDW Annual Passholders could there possibly be at this point? Tom, do you know that #?
I do not. I was told that AP sales far exceeded expectations when they resumed–and earnings calls comments seem to suggest the same.
The constant complaints might suggest otherwise, but demand for Disney is sky-high right now. That’s precisely why the company can get away with things like Lightning Lanes, etc.
Now the problem is that the rarity of the pass has made it even more valuable. We’ve had people say “ooooh you’re passholders?” I don’t know how they would sell them again without half of Florida trying to buy them. Of course it’s a catch 22 for us. We would like to take a couple years off but we might not get our passes back so we go to Disney more knowing it might be off the table for us in the future.
No queue ID on any devices I’m in a waiting room for. No email, of course. I didn’t even get the DTB notification. I’ve been stalking websites and social media pages since 5am, and I still missed Go Time. Appx wait time “more than an hour” so I have a feeling all hope is lost :o(
I wouldn’t lose hope–I had the link loaded prior to *anyone* posting and one of my devices is still more than an hour. I think the VQ is moving incredibly slowly for some reason.
I was one of the lucky ones who received the passholder email. Clicked on the link immediately and am in the queue with more than an hour wait.
Same. I got the email at 9:07am and was in the link by 9:10am and I have more than one hour. I had the same for Guardians and Remy and still got in. Don’t lose hope!
Me too! I’ve had the queue open since 9:15 am and by 12:15 pm I had gotten the “12 minutes left” message…but now I’m seeing the “previews have reached capacity” message. 🙁 I know they have a cap, but still–so frustrating to be checking on it all morning and not get the opportunity to go!
Thanks, Tom! How do you think the DVC/AP TRON previews will impact crowd levels for those dates?
I don’t think they will.
