Disney World Reveals First Look Photos & Video of Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

Walt Disney World has released first look photos & video offering a sneak peek at the new Zootopia: Better Zoogether show opening at Animal Kingdom in one week! Plus, we share thoughts on the likelihood of the virtual queue continuing once the new attraction debuts, as well as Lightning Lane and savvy standby strategy.

In case you’re unfamiliar with it, Zootopia: Better Zoogether is an all-new 4D show inside the Tree of Life Theater, replacing It’s Tough to Be a Bug. Zootopia: Better Zoogether has guests visiting different biomes, traveling along with Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and other characters.

Zootopia: Better Together draws some of its inspiration from Zootopia 2, which is coming this Thanksgiving (November 26, 2025 is the film’s theatrical release). Walt Disney World fans won’t have to wait that long for the brand-new show inside Tree of Life Theater, because Zootopia: Better Zoogether opens November 7, 2025 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In Better Zoogether, the residents of Zootopia are gearing up for Zoogether Day, a citywide celebration. On this special day, all kinds of animals join together with performances from many of the diverse biomes that make up the city. The Tree of Life Theater is the epicenter of Zoogether Day with fast-talking, loud-howling wolf host Heidi Howler presenting a watch party where the audience of mammals big and small will catch all the festivities via livestream.

Thanks to the special “Carrot Vision” glasses that guests will wear as part of the watch party experience, some of your favorite characters from Zootopia and Zootopia 2 will “jump” off the screen … except for Gazelle’s number one fan and off-duty ZPD officer. Walt Disney World already revealed that Benjamin Clawhauser will be in the Tree of Life Theater with us, in the form of an all-new Audio-Animatronics figure.

Walt Disney World’s newly-released first look of Zootopia: Better Zoogether is being shared ahead of Cast Member previews, which run from today through November 3, 2025. Each Cast Member is allowed to bring multiple guests, and this big reveal before that strongly suggests that there won’t be any embargo or restrictions on filming footage, etc., for Cast Members and their guests.

After Cast Member previews are Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Member previews. Disney Vacation Club member previews of Zootopia: Better Zoogether will occur on November 1-3, 2025. The DVC previews require advance registration here, which means they presumably will use a traditional standby line as opposed to a virtual queue.

Annual Passholder previews will use a virtual queue, with APs needing only to make park reservations for Animal Kingdom on November 5 and November 6, 2025. There will be two opportunities to join the virtual queue each day; once at 7 am for Annual Passholders with a park reservation to Animal Kingdom. Then again at 1 pm for any AP; no park reservation required.

One interesting thing to note is that Annual Passholder park reservations have not filled up for Animal Kingdom on November 5-6, 2025. With past previews for Test Track and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, reservations were gone within hours. But here we are several weeks later, and availability is still wide open. This likely requires to comparative popularity and excess bandwidth of Animal Kingdom, along with the reality that this is a new show as opposed to a ride.

These first few showings of Zootopia: Better Zoogether during previews have yielded first look photos & video of the new production at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here’s a look:

Here’s first look video footage of Zootopia: Better Zoogether:

As noted above, a virtual queue is being used for Annual Passholder previews of Zootopia: Better Zoogether.

This is probably not indicative of long-term plans for the attraction. Disneyland recently used a virtual queue for Walt Disney – A Magical Life, which is also a stage show. That was used during previews and then for the first few days the new attraction was open. It was quickly retired once the initial rush quickly burned off.

However, there are a couple of things that are notable about that attraction. First, it opened on Disneyland’s actual anniversary, which is a date that’s popular with locals. Second, it’s at the front of the park and there’s limited physical queue space. Having a virtual queue was necessary for crowd control.

Honestly, I’m surprised the VQ is being used at all for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, even during previews. The Tree of Life has a ton of queue space, and even though local Annual Passholders will descend on Animal Kingdom during these previews, the park should be able to absorb the crowds reasonably well.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Zootopia: Better Zoogether continues using the virtual queue as of November 7, 2025. On the one hand, the above suggests it may not be necessary and Walt Disney World is just erring on the side of caution. On the other hand, that’s a very busy weekend and there’s not much of a runway for AP and DVC previews.

At the end of the day, our best guess is that the virtual queue for Zootopia: Better Zoogether will be relatively short-lived. If it does carry over to the official opening, it’ll probably only last a few days. We’d be surprised if it’s still around by the time Zootopia 2 hits theaters, unless it’s a matter of Walt Disney World continuing to err on the side of caution during peak holiday weeks.

Although we fully expect this show to be popular for years to come (similar to the Little Mermaid show at DHS), it shouldn’t be so popular that it necessitates a virtual queue for weeks or months to come. And from the perspective of Animal Kingdom leadership, a long line wouldn’t be the worst thing for the park, as it’d give guests something to “do” and help kill a bit more time. That early afternoon exodus will be delayed by ~45 minutes!

Walt Disney World previously confirmed that Zootopia: Better Zoogether would have a Lightning Lane. Clever touch using Flash as the character to represent the fast lane. Perhaps he should’ve been the character associated with this service from the beginning, which they could’ve called FlashPass. Then again, maybe that’s not the best idea.

In any case, the Lightning Lane at Zootopia: Better Zoogether probably will be useful, at least for the first few months. We wouldn’t recommend running out to purchase Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and making this one of your top 3 picks, but it definitely does move the needle in favor of LLMP, at a park where we only recommend the paid FastPass/FlashPass service for like ~20 days per year.

Our updated Animal Kingdom Lightning Lane Multi-Pass Rankings cover when you should likely prioritize Zootopia: Better Zoogether. Obviously, that’s a prediction at this point since the show has yet to open, but it’s based on recent precedent in terms of the demand for the stage shows at DHS. Personally, we still will not buy LLMP at DAK during our upcoming visits this holiday season. If I were going to buy anything (I’m not), it’d be a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Avatar Flight of Passage.

In terms of standby strategy for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, it really depends on how early in the run you’re planning to see it. Walt Disney World is currently prepping a lengthy extended queue for the Tree of Life, suggesting that the show should be a top priority.

However, we’d expect that most locals and other diehards will do it earlier in the day, especially opening weekend. The optimal approach thus might start out as going towards the end of the evening, and gradually shift to doing it either then or at the tail end of your rope drop run. Maybe after Adventurers Outpost, which is another sneakily popular Animal Kingdom offering.

If you’re wondering about soft openings, we wouldn’t expect anything. Unlike Test Track, there’s not a long runway for Disney Vacation Club and Annual Passholder previews. All of these dates are packed into a single week, whereas Test Track had a lengthy window and demand had largely exhausted itself by the end.

  1. We saw A Bug’s Life as a family exactly once, on our first trip. Our daughter flat-out refused to experience it ever again. And I mean, ever. She wouldn’t take her own kids, on it, either. She just thought it was gross in general and hated the bee sting and insects running over your feet at the end. She loved the Zootopia movie and she’s looking forward to this reimagining. I don’t have strong feelings either way, but I hope this new iteration is successful.

  2. Looks like a truly horrible replacement for its a Bugs life. I will be surprised if it makes it beyond 6 months due to low crowd interest.

  3. I will be there on the 4th. It’s a long shot, but I will definitely be checking-in to see if they allow regular guests in!

  4. This is the best they could do for Zootopia??? A stage show attraction. How about a stage show a an actual ride. Sorry, this is disappointing that prices keep rising but what they add isn’t really worth the value…. This is only a stage show was my grand daughter’s reaction and she’s 5.

  5. This may be great but right now it looks awful.
In fairness, watching a “4D” movie on a 2D laptop is doomed to failure.
Still getting a forced kumbaya feeling from this.
I loved BUG so it has it’s workcut out for it.

    1. Mickeu’28. I share your ambivalence – but am definitely stealing the term “forced kumbaya” for later use!
I’m reminded WDW had a real, genuinely moving, kumbaya moment with Illuminations. Sometimes I wonder what the current show writers are thinking. This doesn’t look great.

  6. It’s kind of a sad commentary on the overall state of Animal Kingdom’s attraction roster if we’re speculating about Lightening Lane strategies for a crowd-eating movie.

The previews do look adorable, though, and I’m glad any hype will have likely simmered down by the time I make my next visit in fall of ‘26!
