Every time I look up at that little plaque, it brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of Walt Disney, the man who started it all. After reading the quote, I always pay careful attention to the classic and retro-classic attraction posters that line the tunnel that follow. To me, these posters represent the best about the parks, past and present, and how so much has changed over the years–and how much has stayed the same over the years. Not only do these posters represent the best, but their some of the best, themselves. They may just be “simple advertisements” to the average guest, but I see them as so much more. To me, they’re brilliantly designed pieces of art, and yet another example of the great Disney Details that make the parks amazing. To me, these posters are works of art, and are one of the many reasons I find myself going back again and again and again.
Technical details: single exposure; tripod-mounted Nikon D7000 and Rokinon 8mm Fisheye Lens. See our Disney Photography Guide for more photography equipment recommendations.
Everytime that I’ve read that plaque and walked through the tunnel I feel transported to a different place and a different time — in fact, a place where there IS no time. Like Peter Pan, it’s like I’ve never grown up. That’s why I find myself going back again and again and again.
When I try to explain that feeling to friends and coworkers, most just shake their heads. But a few others get it; they understand.
The posters that line the tunnel, often depicting rides as I remember them from my childhood, further aid in that illusion (if, in fact, it really is just an illusion at all). It’s part of the magic of being in the Happiest Place on Earth.
I know how it is with the coworkers. I can’t have ANY Disney stuff in my office at work because others will just give me grief about it. Oh well, their loss.
yesssssssss. December, where are you?
That is a great picture! It looks like there is a magical world waiting just on the other side!
I really wish they sold replicas of this in the gift shop, I’d buy one in a heartbeat!
Hi, just wondering if this plaque is also in Florida as well?
