Disney World Reopening Preview NOW FULL!
Walt Disney World has opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of the reopening of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Previews will take place July 9-10, 2020 and APs can select one day to attend. In this post, we’ll offer step by step registration screenshots and tips for completing the process.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, this Annual Passholder preview filled up within a matter of minutes after opening, and the event dates are all now full for both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. If you were able to register, you should have received an email with details and a confirmation. If you were not able to register, it’s now too late.
We apologize if you received our heads up too late to register, but this is literally the fastest we’ve ever seen an event fill up. This is presumably due to the reduced capacity of the theme parks, which will be at 20-30% of normal numbers when the parks begin reopening on July 11, 2020. Our guess is that these events were capped well below that (maybe 5-10% of park capacity) to give Cast Members a chance to conduct trial operations in an even more relaxed environment. In any case, what follows is now of little practical value to you, unless you’re curious as to what the process looks like…
Unfortunately, many eligible guests don’t receive email heads up from Walt Disney World that they’re available to book. However, there’s some good news in this case, as have info for completing the registration process before it fills up. We’d strongly recommend registering ASAP and not delaying until you can confirm plans with family or friends–this event will fill up FAST.
Per Walt Disney World’s Annual Passes: Know Before You Go Info page, Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders will have the opportunity to register for a special preview at Magic Kingdom park or Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park on July 9 or 10.
Reservations are required and limited, and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. An eligible activated annual pass is required to register.
Here’s the Special Events Registration for Annual Passholders page that’ll greet you, with its text below:
If you’re interested in attending this special event and are an eligible Passholder, with an activated Annual Pass, please register online following the steps below. You don’t need the email—all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!
To register for Walt Disney World’s FREE Annual Passholder Reopening Previews at Magic Kingdom, we recommend doing the following, in this order:
- Open an incognito/private browser window
- Sign-in on DisneyWorld.com
From there, you can easily update your email address or remove a Guest by selecting “Remove” next to the Guest’s name listed under “Registered Guests.”
If you’d like to add Guests who also have a valid, activated annual pass that meets eligibility guidelines as of the date of the event(s), you may add them to your Family & Friends list within your My Disney Experience account. When you’re ready to confirm your party, select “Next.”
Please note: you can only add Guests from your Family & Friends list who have opted to share “All My Plans” with you. Only one reservation per Passholder is permitted.
For more information, please visit Invite Family & Friends to Plan and Share. Upon clicking next, here’s what you should see (with your own details replacing ours):
On that screen, you can choose one of the two dates, then select the time and agree to the terms of conditions before hitting submit.
You’ll need to complete this process within 5 minutes, otherwise the page will timeout and you’ll have to start over. Here’s what you should see upon hitting submit:
We strongly recommend taking a screenshot of this. The page indicates that you’ll be sent a copy of the confirmation page via email, but we have yet to receive that.
This page also indicates that additional details about check-in locations will be emailed to you 3-5 business days before the event.
There are a bunch of other details, rules, and things to know on that page, including the following:
What to Bring to the Event
- Valid Annual Pass and a government-issued photo ID for each registered Passholder
- One copy of your confirmation page
- Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up)
Reservations
- Advance registration required. Eligible activated Annual Pass is required to register.
- Reservations for Passholder preview are only available to Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier Passholders.
- Event capacity is limited. The number of registrations for this event is limited and subject to availability.
- No modifications to reservations.
- If a Passholder would like to register a Guest to accompany them, that Guest must also have a valid Weekday Select, Theme Park Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus or Premier annual pass, be listed on your Family & Friends list and have opted to share “All My Plans” with you.
- Valid, activated eligible Walt Disney World Annual Pass and photo ID are required at check-in for each Passholder and each Passholder Guest.
- Passholders with confirmed reservations will receive an additional email with details on how to check in for their reservation 3 to 5 business days in advance of their selected event date.
- Registered Passholders may experience wait times for popular attractions during this event.
- If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, Disney transportation will not be available for this limited event. You will need to provide your own transportation to the Theme Park parking lot.
We had no problems accessing the page and registering, but once the emails start hitting more inboxes, it’s entirely possible the page will slow to a crawl or be eaten by Stitch.
You may have to log-out of My Disney Experience, log back in, etc., use incognito/private browsing in order to get it to work. If you get hung up on one of the “Just a Moment…” screens (like the dreaded Pepto Pink Castle page), try again in a different browser window.
What usually happens on these registration days is that Walt Disney World IT makes tweaks to the system on the fly. Don’t be surprised if this advice is outdated by the time you read it. For the benefit of everyone, please post in the comments if you have success registering and whether you received an email. Additionally, if you’re having trouble registering, please read others’ comments before asking any questions. We’ll update the main post accordingly as we learn more!

YOUR THOUGHTS
Are you an Annual Passholder? Will you be attempting to visit Walt Disney World during the AP preview reopening period? Did you have any problems registering for your desired Annual Passholder preview date? A variety of viewpoints are welcomed here, but we will not tolerate insults, arguing, or politically-charged comments. Additionally, please do not debate the efficacy of health safety policies—all such comments (for, against, otherwise) will be deleted. Those arguments are played out and isn’t the appropriate forum for that. (Saying you will or will not visit in light of certain measures is fine.)
That’s a bit disingenuous, Catherine. I stated that anyone that would visit a theme park during a pandemic is irresponsible. I get that you’re set on painting me in some kind of negative light because you have an opinion, but this isn’t, nor was this ever about you or your opinion of me. Facts are facts. We are in the midst of a pandemic. Infection rates are on a steep incline, particularly here in Florida. Orange County itself ranks 5th across all counties in the state with the most infection rates. I do not doubt for a moment that Disney is doing all it can to mitigate, but that doesn’t stop asymptomatic employees from going to work, it doesn’t stop asymptomatic guests from entering the parks, it doesn’t stop people from straying too close to other guests that may or may not be sick. There are no two ways about this – no matter what precautions Disney puts into effect, at this given moment in time it is simply irresponsible to invite people into a theme park & anyone that visits is putting the health of everyone else they come into contact with at a greater risk of contracting Covid. Visiting a theme park right now is selfish. If that offends you, that’s a you problem.
This is the last for me. I do not feel guilty, worried, unsure or any of the above. I am happy and at peace with all the decisions I have made. I initially responded because you have called all the people on these posts shameful and irresponsible. I was hoping you could state your opinion without putting down others. Obviously you can’t. I am sorry for the person you are and I am happy that I don’t have to associate with people who put other people down because they think differently. Have a good life.
You can call me whatever you want to call me, but the long & the short of it is that I am stating a fact – it is irresponsible to go to a theme park during a pandemic when infections are on a very steep incline, and you’re responding with an opinion – that I’m nasty for what I wrote here. Far be it from me to be presumptuous, but I would imagine that all of your son’s, daughter’s & in-laws would all still advise against being around large crowds, whether outdoors or indoors during a pandemic. I don’t know why you’re so offended by what I wrote here, unless you’re feeling some kind of way about taking the risks you’re taking; I still hope you & yours stay healthy during these unprecedented times.
I agree with you Joe. On all points. Hope Disney delays opening. Those that go to Disney Springs just stay outside….never go into stores or remove their masks to eat or drink? Cases are increasing rapidly. Stay home!! So we can all get back to a normal Disney as soon as possible.
Yes Joe we are all self serving and you are the voice of knowledge. Coming from a family of Doctors and nurses I respectfully disagree with your answer. All my sons , daughters and step children that are doctors I know and trust and will tell that being outside is 100 times safer than being at any of those grocers and stores but live and let live and I won’t call you any of the names that come to mind as I don’t judge people for their opinions.
The difference between going to Walmart/Target/Publix is that people are going to those places to buy necessities, not for leisure. There’s is a direct, short line between cases in our state skyrocketing & leisure destinations opening up, whether it be beaches, bars/restaurants, etc. I’m sorry you feel that I’m being nasty, but from my perspective I am simply calling a spade a spade. I’d love nothing more than to take my family to Disney, but the facts of the matter remain that it is simply irresponsible to go at this moment in time. I’m well aware that my opinion alone won’t stop people from going, but to act as if it isn’t a calculated risk is just an outright lie on your part. I’m happy you’ve gone and have been fortunate enough not to contract Covid, I truly am, but again, that doesn’t change the reality that anytime anyone of us go out, there is a very real risk, so going out for something that is entirely non-essential & purely self-serving just seems so wrong to me.
Also really nasty of you to call us shameful. Obviously you are free to make the decision that is best for you and your family but to be so judgmental is absolutely wrong. You could have just stated you weren’t going but you just had to put some of your judgement there.
I don’t agree with you. We live here and we have been to Disney Springs 4 times already since they opened. They are following protocol and you are outside. I can see if you have to fly in, get a hotel etc but for the day I see no issues. Definitely no more than going to all the grocery stores, target, Walmart etc to which I don’t go.
I was able to get a reservation and I have a copy of my confirmation number but have not received an email yet. Yikes!!
Me either but I took a screenshot.. Hoping that the email a few days before as promised will come..?
Check the emails of other people in your group. I didn’t get an email but my husband got one with my name listed as the primary email so go figure.
I got a reservation, but accidentally closed out my screen on my phone. I have not received an email confirmation and it does not show up on MDE. I am hoping I get my email soon.
So cruel. Was waiting for the email to come and never got one. Was really hoping to go, ugh!!!
Never got a message for AP reservations but I did just get an email about making dining reservations starting tomorrow. It states that as someone with a canceled dining reservation we get first crack at it.
Why do I NEVER get emails??? Argh!!!
I hear you! 15 plus years as a PAP or Ap holder. I only get emails when they want money. I’ve called them, emailed them about this. Was told it’s my fault. Well, no, I get several emails weekly or daily from Disney+, and D23. To be fair it took 4 months after paying for both accounts to be activated. There was a “glitch with my account ” for both. Supposedly it was fixed. I’m think8ng it wasn’t.
At this point I want money back. We also didn’t get info bfor Pandora and other soft AP opening. Beyond peeved.
I never get the “preview” emails. I have checking every morning for the reopening preview, and still got nothing. I was just a Disney Springs Guest Services to get new media cards for our APs, and the Cast Member even read my email address back to me, and still nothing. Disney+, shopDisney and normal AP emails I always receive. Beyond frustrating at this point.
I got the email and reserved before this post, but others in my family never got the email,.. Disney’s notification emails are spotty..
I received an alert on my phone. I clicked on it from my phone and was able to register from my phone, after being in the waiting room for about ten minutes. I have not received an email yet, and am kicking myself for not taking a screen shot of the confirmation when it appeared on my phone.
This is exactly what I feared would happen with park passes on June 22 and why I stayed up all night and constantly refreshed the page just in case it went live before 7am. But at least then they gave use advance warning of the day it would drop. This just seems cruel to passholders. I feel for you guys.
Now am worried that dining reservations are also going to be unceremoniously dumped without warning just like this. I swear, the number of grey hairs this experience is giving me….
You can book dining up till the end of August right now, Also many of the restaurants can be booked on Open table.
This was such a Trainwreck!!! I got my invitation then immediately clicked on it.
I was in the waiting room for over 30 minutes then was sent to a page that said they were full. That is not fair to the passholders that pay so much money! You should have added more days Disney!!
Never received email or notification…Think by now, I would be used to this. Typical Disney!!!
My confirmation email went to my husband even though I am the primary email so check all that are going to see who got it.
Also received notification through MyDisney App…sat in waiting room but luckily shared link with my son…he got in immediately. Were able to book-thank goodness! Never did receive the “email” that was supposed to be sent.
I’m curious about whether you had some kind of insider knowledge about when the system went live. We never received any notification at all. How did you find out about it? I have noticed that for events like this with very limited capacity, pretty much all of the bloggers and other media representatives manage to get in (and then write news posts about it for their blogs) when many eligible people never even get the chance. Is there some kind of alert system? An insider with a special Twitter account?
Things that make you go Hmmmm!!!
They get the heads up because people let them know. For example, I got a notification about the AP preview from the mydisney experience app 30 mins before they posted this update. While I didn’t tweet or let them know via facebook or something, you can bet someone else did.
