Disney World Reveals Reservation Relaunch Date for Beak & Barrel Bar
Walt Disney World has announced the new Advance Dining Reservation booking dates for Beak & Barrel Bar, the new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom! This covers the latest about when you can book ADRs, following the drop day delay due to excessive demand and a Disney IT meltdown.
Let’s start with quick Beak & Barrel Bar basics. At this tavern, you’ll be immersed in an adventure across the Seven Seas with nods to both the classic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and beloved films. As you join the pirate fun, you’ll enjoy thirst-quenching tropical beverages, delicious small bites, sing-alongs, storytelling, and enchanting surprises. The Beak and Barrel Bar opens on August 29, 2025 in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom, right outside the exit to Pirates of the Caribbean. ADRs were supposed to open on August 14.
In case you missed it (lucky you!), we cover the problems plaguing launch day in Walt Disney World’s Beak & Barrel Bar ADRrrr Drop Day Debacle. The short version of the story is that Disney IT was unprepared for the sky-high demand, and the entire Advance Dining Reservation system crashed and went into maintenance mode for a couple of hours. When it finally returned, Beak & Barrel Bar ADRs had been disabled and delayed. Many Walt Disney World vacation planners wasted hours playing the refresh game.
August 20, 2025 UPDATE: Ahead of Walt Disney World attempting to open Beak and Barrel reservations for the second go-round tonight, they’ve implemented guard rails to manage demand. Notably, the My Disney Experience app is not being utilized (it kicks you to the website) and a Virtual Queue waiting room is in place to enter the dining reservation site. The waiting room is in now open on the Walt Disney World website, but the virtual queue hasn’t started progressing yet.
If this works as it normally does, the site will switch over to the virtual queue at 7:00:00 pm or shortly thereafter. When it does, everyone in the waiting room will be dumped into the VQ at random. Meaning it won’t matter what time you “joined” the waiting room, since it was just a pre-party hangout spot and not an organized line.
Disney’s official line about running multiple browser tabs or manually refreshing the page is that it may remove you from the waiting room. If you are removed, you will have to re-enter the queue at the back of the line. Joining the virtual queue repeatedly on the same device is usually pointless, since (typically) all instances will actually have the same queue ID.
It’s also wise to copy your unique queue ID (it’s in the URL). This URL/ID can be transferred to other browsers or devices, allowing you to maintain your place in line. This can be especially handy if the virtual queue is several hours long, and you start out on your work computer but then want to transfer to your mobile device or whatever. (Been there, done that!)
Good luck, everyone! We’ll see you on the other side…hopefully!
What dates do ADRs open for Beak & Barrel Bar?
There are two different timelines for Beak & Barrel Bar ADRs:
Normal Days & Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – Advance Dining Reservations for Beak & Barrel launch on August 20, 2025 at 7 p.m. ET.
Although Walt Disney World has stated as much, this is subject to the 60+10 rule for on-site guests, which means that on-site guests will be able to book more distant dates and off-site guests won’t.
Everyone will be able to book 60 days in advance, though. This is strategically significant, as will be discussed below.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party – Starting September 3, 2025, on-site Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests can make reservations for Beak and Barrel during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. ADRs will be available for dates up to 60 days in advance of arrival, for the entire length of stay (up to a 10-night stay). All other guests can book Beak & Barrel during MVMCP starting September 8, 2025.
(This info was previously released, but removed from the bulletin when the meltdown occurred last week. There’s no reason to believe it has changed, though.)
What time do ADRs open for Beak & Barrel?
Here’s the official ‘party line’ from Walt Disney World on ADR timing: “Ahoy, me hearties! Those seeking the treasures of The Beak and Barrel can begin charting their course when reservations launch on August 20, 2025 at 7 p.m. ET.”
We have confirmed with Walt Disney World that time is correct, and it’s not another classic AM/PM mixup. That time is correct—ADRs reopened at 7 p.m. at night. Not the morning!
While it’s possible that they might go live at 7:00:00 p.m. on the dot, you might miss out if you wait until then. You’ll want to be online by 6:45 p.m. Sometimes, Walt Disney World quietly loads ADRs into the system early as a ‘release valve’ on demand.
It’s also possible ADRs won’t be loaded until 7:14 p.m. or some random time. Point being: ADR release days are very hit or miss! I know this is a frustrating non-answer, but don’t shoot the messenger.
I’ve been doing this for years, and have experienced many of these frustrations firsthand. The only consistent with Disney IT is inconsistency. You probably now have firsthand experience with this if you were around for round one of the Beak & Barrel drop day debacle.
Beak & Barrel ADR Competitiveness
As you’ve probably already gathered from the entire system crashing when ADRs were supposed to go live, reservations will be incredibly competitive, on par with or even exceeding GEO-82. It’s a perfect storm of sky-high demand colliding with limited supply. You will absolutely want to try on August 20, 2025 at 7 pm Eastern if you’re hoping for a chance of an ADR at Beak & Barrel on August 29 or anytime over Labor Day weekend.
That is Destination D23 weekend, a time when diehard dorks like me are descending upon Walt Disney World, and there will be thousands of us who all want to experience the new PotC bar on opening day or opening weekend. That is on top of the army of Annual Passholders and locals who are always first to everything, plus regular ole tourists.
You know how GEO-82 was highly competitive for opening day and is still impossible to book unless you’re 60+ days out? Beak and Barrel will be like that on steroids for Labor Day weekend. (A better comparison might be the crazy lines for the original Figment popcorn bucket.) One thing that will benefit Beak & Barrel over time is that it’ll have higher hourly capacity by virtue of being a larger venue and having a strict time limit.
However, demand is also likely to be higher because “tavern themed to Pirates of the Caribbean” is a more interesting and attractive concept to both Walt Disney World fans and casual audiences, and because this is a family-friendly lounge in Magic Kingdom. On balance, it’s our expectation that Beak & Barrel is the #1 most difficult ADR for years to come. Demand for Oga’s Cantina has just started to cool, and that opened back in 2019. So if you want “easier” Beak & Barrel ADRs, check back in 2028.
Tips & tricks for Pillaging ADRs
For starters, if you can’t find anything for your desired dates, try refreshing or adjusting your parameters in the My Disney Experience app. There are options, they just don’t always appear at first. If you’re not having success, try some techniques from our Top 10 Tips for Hard to Book Advance Dining Reservations at Walt Disney World.
Here are more specific recommendations:
Use the Restaurant Booking Page – At the risk of stating the obvious, you don’t want to be scrolling through results for other restaurants when trying to book Beak & Barrel. This is one of those ‘fast fingers’ scenarios where milliseconds matter. You’ll want an on-point strategy and a honed approach.
This means going directly to the restaurant website or its page in the My Disney Experience app and booking from there. Unfortunately, the blue “Check Available Days” button has vanished from the official website and app. Fortunately, the direct link still works: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dine-res/dining-event/beak-barrel
Note that when we say “works,” we mean it hasn’t been disabled. Not that you can currently book ADRs ahead of everyone else. You cannot! But that direct link might give you a leg up on the competition once ADRs are loaded into the system because, again, milliseconds matter!
Multiple Devices, Computer Priority – Before ADRs go live, my strong advice is to login to disneyworld.com on your computer and the My Disney Experience app. Sure, this all goes down at the crack of dawn, so there might be the strong temptation to do this all while lying in bed. But there are few better ways to cut your teeth on the Walt Disney World planning machine than by setting up a veritable command center, ready for every contingency.
If you’re really serious, go into private browsing, login, and open a new tab for Beak & Barrel. If something goes wrong–and let’s be real, this is Disney IT, so something probably will–switch over to the My Disney Experience app or a different device and keep rolling.
Bounce Around – One of the things we’ve noticed with past ADR drop days (especially Candlelight Processional) is that not all dates are loaded into the system simultaneously. Or all times.
Honestly, I have no idea how or why this would be the case, but it’s nevertheless bouncing around dates that might work for you at Beak & Barrel to see what’s available. Equally as important, don’t freak out if your first priority doesn’t appear. It might be that it fully booked up instantly, but it also might be that it hasn’t yet loaded for whatever reason.
This actually supposedly happened with Beak & Barrel on round one, with a single date loading into the system and briefly being bookable before the system crashed.
Book “Backwards” – If you have an on-site stay that’s over 60 days in advance, you should use this perk to your advantage to reduce the competition. The best approach is to put Beak & Barrel as far out beyond 60 days as possible, as you won’t have to compete with locals and off-site guests for those dates.
This is especially advantageous is you have a trip that’s a week or longer. With each day closer to the end of the +10 limit, the pool of eligible guests to book that date is reduced. As a result, booking for those dates should, in theory, be easier. Beak & Barrel is going to be incredibly competitive, so it may not feel easier, but it will be. (Note that this same strategy applies to Lightning Lane pre-arrival availability and, obviously, other ADRs.)
Use A Notification Service – We don’t recommend a notification service from the jump, as this is going to move too fast. This really only applies if you get shut out of Beak & Barrel ADRs when they launch on August 20th. And many, if not most, of you will miss out, so we’re including this here.
There are several ADR finder services, some free and others paid. These dining reservation finders notify you when an ADR you want becomes available. It’s then up to you to act fast and get it reserved.
Our strong recommendation would be to not pay for a reservation finder far ahead of your trip or for a year-long subscription. Several of these services have vanished overnight due to Disney backend system changes that effectively shut them down.
Failing All Else, Look Last Minute – With the big exception of newly-introduced dining (like Beak & Barrel), which we almost always reserve on drop days, we seldom make ADRs far in advance.
Fortunately, many restaurants are not dropping all of their ADR availability ~60 days ahead of time. This is happening in part due to staffing–restaurants release a conservative number of reservations two months out, and then open up more as the dates draw nearer if Cast Member scheduling allows.
On top of that, many Walt Disney World visitors hoard ADRs, and cancel their unwanted ones the night before or even a couple of hours prior to their meals to avoid being penalized. As a result of both of these realities, there’s usually pop-up last-minute ADR availability even for the most popular restaurants.
The most common times that we check for Advance Dining Reservations are between 9 pm and 11 pm the night before, as well as around 10 am and 2 pm same-day. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen nothing for many restaurants ~30 days in advance, only to find numerous options for lunch and dinner released the morning of or one day in advance. This is my manual version of an ADR finder!

With the assistance of my sister-in-law who is a Disney planner and my brother, we were able to get two reservations the week of Sept. 7th. We are going to have to do some day drinking as the reservations are around 5pm each day. But when you are on Disney time that’s not a big deal….can’t wait try a couple things I saw on the menu….
Hi Tom, I used to receive all of your individual articles like this almost daily, followed by a weekly bundled newsletter with all of the recent articles combined. Recently, the daily individual articles stopped coming, and I only receive the bundled weekly newsletter. Did you change the way you push out your articles, or is it just me, did I inadvertently mess up my subscription? I miss the daily blog articles. 🙂
Uhh…I hope that’s just you? I haven’t changed anything in delivery. Have you checked your spam folder? Might need to flag a few of them as not spam or, better yet, “important” messages. Sorry about that!
We got ours for the September 5th MNSSHP. Made it into the site at 7:09. I did have to leave the restuarant page and go in through the Make Reservations way before openings would show up. Other than that, no problems. A smooth experience.
Hey Tom what are your thoughts on what to do for a 4:10 reservation at the b&b on a mnsshp night that we only have tickets to. Will we need to be in line quite a bit earlier to get in the park or will there be a cm to talk with reservations? Thsnks
You’re generally fine if you show up to an ADR a little late (I’d try to aim for within 15 minutes here) and they’re probably going to be running behind, so you should be fine.
Still, I wouldn’t arrive to MK any later than 3:30 pm. Have fun!
Went on at 645 – got in around 7:15 and nothing available. 🙁
After the queue went up, I was able to bypass it entirely and had open access to what sure looked like every day/every time, from opening day throughout the following week, for quite a long time (at least 10 minutes) before my place in the queue came up separately. Literally as easy as the easiest ADR I’ve ever gotten. Odd.
Very happy. Got mine on the day I wanted in October. Was waiting at 6.45 and finally let me through at 7.15.
Hope everyone grabbed what they wanted!
Good for you! I entered Queue at 6:44 and they let me in at around &:20 but at that point it looks like nothing available any dates!
Yo ho Yo Ho! I got the one I wanted on Sept 28 — by using the direct URL!
I had it going on one browser, refreshing availability .. and another browser I went to Add Dining Reservation and it’s still sitting on the Waiting Room page … 15 minutes after I scored the reservation on the first browser.
(I’m closing the 2nd one now — I don’t need to clog it up for others!)
May the odds be forever in everyone’s favor!
And thank you again Tom for the suggestion of the direct URL the other day!
Queue opened at 6:30 ET…
Whoa that went smooth. Through it in less than a minute… o.o Yay? Good luck everyone…
don’t know if there is a reasonable answer to this but I’ll ask, will the beak and barrel opening bust the plans for folks who booked a DW trip in mid Sept expecting lower crowds? I suppose best case would be the number of visitors will remain seasonaly low but those who come will prioritize B and B.
( I booked an annual 2nd week in Sept trip before all the B and B accolades. )
I’ve have pretty good luck scoring ADR’s for new places by signing up for dining alerts before the go live date. It’s texted me alerts when the reservations were dropped early or when the system is back up after inevitably crashing at 6am. It’s worth the ~$5 to not have to constantly be having to check back to see if the site is back up and running. I keep my password for MDE saved to my phone so it only takes a second to login and snag the reservation.
Hi – adding a quick note that I think they have turned on the waiting room functionality for ADRs (or at least some of them/if you refresh too quickly?) I’m playing the refresh game for our upcoming trip hoping to get into GEO-82 and a couple of times now I have gotten the space mountain loading screen, usually as a pop-up window that just says “processing request”, but once as a full page with a timing countdown on it.
Related – not sure how common this is for all restaurants but I definitely did just see them drop in a ton more times (~6/day) for GEO-82 over the next two weeks (of course my date went faster than my fingers), just a PSA for anyone looking for those and illustrating the point that Tom is making about them adding availability, presumably based on staffing.
Yup, they are going to use virtual waiting room from what we’ve seen today. No ability in the app. I’m still hopeful as we have 4 days to attempt, but clearly this is a VERY popular location and we’ll see how the universe feels about it.
We have ADRs for Geo-82 already, and part of me wishes B&B was 21+ but… I know, Disney is for kids (and not just DINKs).
How difficult will it be to get a reservation during MNSSHP on a weekday during October 🙂
I meant to ask a question in that comment, whoops! As a single diner, have you found it easier or more difficult to book tough DRs like this?
I haven’t had any issues with solo ADRs in the last 2 or so years, but I also haven’t been trying to book anything this competitive as a party of 1.
Zero inside info, but I wouldn’t be shocked if this is a scenario when Disney makes it “easier” for even-numbered parties to book. Do with that info what you will!
I’m going to be alone in MK on Sept 13th so this is perfect. I meant to log on August 14th and my alarm ended up being on the wrong day…which I guess was actually a blessing. Been a long time since I’ve played the ‘Disney Lotto,’ but I really like doing this in the evening instead of trying to handle it before the sun comes up! Feels weird to actually *want* to be a Disney Pirate though, heh…
I’m actually relieved they’re doing this again at a more reasonable hour. I was up for round 1 and resented having to get up early on a WFH day. I had two laptops, my phone and my ipad going lol. Unfortunately I’m gunning for 8/29 since it will work out the best for my existing schedule (I am going for Labor Day weekend but skipping D23).
From a logistical standpoint they are most likely doing it this way so they’ll have more IT staff on hand in the event in goes sideways again. Working in the field myself I don’t envy them at all.
Same here. I’m also glad they announced this last night (albeit while I was at Oogie Boogie Bash–but at least I had the outline of this post ready to go!) so I didn’t have to get up at ~3 am as a hedge–even though I thought the chances of a drop today were incredibly low. Not having to do that again is very appreciated. I could definitely get on board with nighttime launches becoming a new thing. They could even move them to midnight eastern if they wanted!
And yes, I don’t envy the people working in Disney IT at all on any of this. While we criticize Disney IT in the abstract, I’ve heard from some people who work there, and between the patchwork of legacy systems and management wanting to do things as “efficiently” as possible, they have unenviable roles.
Not fair for us living in the UK. That will be midnight here and so not everyone is able to stat up until then. Hopefully will still get reservations in morning.
Disney can’t accommodate every single last person’s schedule. People on the US west coast normally have to book ADRs at 3am, I think UK people (who also get access to really good discounts and deals no one else does, btw) will survive 1 time staying up to a time that is not at all unreasonable for most adults.
Can you explain the September 8th date for ADR’s for during MVMCP? Does the 60 day rule still also count for this? Or can anyone with a reservation for MVMCP – on what ever date – make a reservation starting September 8th? Sorry…I just didn’t get that part. Our tickets are for December 2nd. Thank you!!
It should be pursuant to the 60+10 rule, but the old bulletin that was on Disney’s website didn’t make that 100% clear. When they’ve launched Candlelight ADRs in the past, that’s how it has worked–I assume the same will be true here.
Once August 20th passes, they should put the old bulletin back up–maybe it’ll clarify.
THANK YOU for this update! I was thinking I’d have to get up at 6am each day this week until they dropped.
One note … the direct link you have listed doesn’t work for me.
This one does work for me:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dine-res/restaurant/beak-barrel
The difference is yours ends with “dining-event/beak-barrel” vs “restaurant/beak-barrel”.
Obviously that could be changing as the week progresses, but thought I’d mention it for you to check out.
Ahoy matey! Hoping to get a reservation at the end of September — maybe everyone will be fighting over Labor Day weekend so I can sneak in later in the month. Cheers!
Thanks for the heads up on that. Interestingly, your link loads faster than mine and includes different (updated) details. Both do work, at least for me, though.
Regardless, I’ll update with yours later today when I have a chance!
