Later Dining Reservations Booking Time Revealed for New Diamond Horseshoe Lounge at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World has announced when restaurant reservations will open for the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge, which officially opens on October 4, 2026. The launch time is unexpected, mirroring Beak & Barrel and its ADRrrr debacle from last year.

Let’s start with dates. The Diamond Horseshoe is currently closed and being transformed back into a restaurant following the conclusion of Cool Kids’ Summer on September 8th. The venue hosted Jessie’s Roundup, which was a glorified dance party, but a good one. There’s about a month to refresh the space before the Diamond Horseshoe reopens on October 4, 2026.

Walt Disney World previously announced that Advance Dining Reservations open September 29, 2026, pursuant to the 60+10 rule. Here’s the official ‘party line’ from Walt Disney World on normal ADR timing: “At approximately 6:00 AM daily, new reservation booking windows become available for select Walt Disney World restaurants.”

When it comes to new offerings, such as the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge, the real rule for ADRs is more like: “they happen when they happen.” Anyone who participated in the chaos of competitive ADR drop day(s) in the past should be all too aware of this!

Sometimes this means that new ADR availability is fully loaded into the system and goes live at 6:00:00 am on the dot. Other times there’s a false start, and ADRs open at 5:45 am. Occasionally some availability is loaded on time, and more trickles out over the course of the next hour or two. You really never know what you’re going to get, and that’s part of the fun. (We’re having fun with this stuff…right?!)

On certain occasions when extremely high demand is anticipated, Walt Disney World will move the ADR launch time.

It’s our understanding that this is done so that strain on the system or potential crashes do not adversely impact ordinary dining reservations. This is precisely what happened last year with Beak & Barrel and now, oddly enough, Walt Disney World is repeating that with the Diamond Horseshoe.

Walt Disney World has launched the new website for what they’re calling “The Diamond Horseshoe Lounge” (first time I’ve seen that name used), which indicates the lounge will be a “limited time offering” (also a first to the best of my recollection). Most importantly, it says this: “To book a dining reservation at The Diamond Horseshoe, check back on September 29, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET!”

As noted above, this is reminiscent of Beak & Barrel around this same time last year. In case you missed it (lucky you!), we covered the problems plaguing launch day in Walt Disney World’s Beak & Barrel Bar ADRrrr Drop Day Debacle. The short version of the story is that Disney IT was unprepared for the sky-high demand, and the entire ADR system crashed and went into maintenance mode for a couple of hours. The reservation launch was then rescheduled for a couple weeks later.

Thankfully, Walt Disney World got that right on the second go-round, implementing a virtual queue that better pulsed demand. Even so, over two full months of reservations booked up within minutes. Many guests were still unable to score ADRs for their desired dates, but at least the system was fair and not as frustrating. Those who got shut out might disagree with that assessment, but there’s no perfect solution when there’s this extreme of a supply-demand imbalance.

All of that really reinforced how much Walt Disney World fans had been anxiously awaiting the Beak & Barrel Bar after two years of waiting. One year after opening, Beak & Barrel remains popular, but ADRs are now much easier to score. For parties of 2-4, I see all dates available in October and the first half of November 2027, with only a few unavailable in the nearer term.

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised that Walt Disney World is going to these lengths to manage demand for the Diamond Horseshoe. I have seen absolutely nothing to suggest fan interest in this lounge is anywhere near Beak & Barrel levels.

Sure, we anticipate the Diamond Horseshoe being popular at first, because anything new at Walt Disney World is. ADRs could potentially pose challenges even beyond then if the menu is good, as seating is limited in the restaurant. This holiday season is bound to be busy, but I’m not expecting a sea of unavailable dates even ~60 days out.

In fact, my expectation is that walk-up waitlist will be fairly easy for the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge by early 2027.

Maybe Walt Disney World is seeing a lot more enthusiasm for this concept than I am, but more likely, there’s a different explanation for this. The simplest/worst explanation would be that it’s a typo. That whoever wrote the copy for the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge page copied and pasted old language from Beak & Barrel without realizing this isn’t how things usually work. You might laugh at that, thinking surely such a silly mistake wouldn’t get through Disney’s many layers of approval. Haha…ah ha…ha…ha, Wazowski. (Roz voice.)

The more interesting explanation is that the plan is to move all new dining reservations to an 8 pm launch going forward. While this might annoy a lot of people, I think just about anyone not in the Eastern time zone would be a fan. It would also reduce the likelihood of system-wide issues, which is a good thing. Given that there will almost certainly be higher demand for the 2026 Candlelight Processional Dining Packages than this, it’s worth watching to see whether this is an inexplicable one-off or the start of a trend.

There’s nothing about the menu at the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge that has me excited. Some of the dishes look like they could be good, but I’d be surprised if this concept becomes a sleeper hit or breakout sensation on the Magic Kingdom dining scene.

Regardless, this should be the best menu at Diamond Horseshoe in a long time, and Magic Kingdom could definitely benefit from another restaurant added to its roster, especially at the lower end of the spectrum. We love Walt Disney World’s recent approach to lounges, which straddle the middle ground between counter and table service. Although the menu appears more limited, the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge could continue that trend.

While Magic Kingdom needs more counter service capacity, Diamond Horseshoe isn’t large enough to do that at scale, and the kitchen isn’t configured for it (and cannot be, without losing Liberty Tree Tavern, too). The seating area is fairly small, probably the smallest of any restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It’s also essentially a wide open room, with very little to break up the space.

It’ll be interesting to see what Walt Disney World does with the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge. In particular, I’m curious as to whether they’ll use both levels for seating or incorporate a stage show or dance party element. There are a lot of little ways to improve the venue, but if it’s truly a “limited time offering” before becoming another dance party venue for Cool Kids’ Summer 2027, they probably won’t invest much in making major changes.

I’m personally not convinced it truly will be “limited time only,” though. There are a lot of other variables at play between now and Piston Peak debuting, and assume not all of those decisions have already been made. (I wouldn’t be surprised if Cool Kids’ Summer hasn’t even been settled on as the campaign for 2027.)

Here’s also hoping the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge is the start of something bigger. Maybe this is the first piece of the puzzle, with Tortuga Tavern also reopening or counter service lunch being restored at Be Our Guest Restaurant.

Perhaps Walt Disney World is bringing Diamond Horseshoe online because it has plans to take Pecos Bill offline, which has been rumored for years. That seems inevitable at some point, especially with the Piston Peak Cars Land only a few years away from opening and not featuring a full-scale counter service restaurant of its own.

Regardless of the reason, it’s good to see Walt Disney World switching things up with Diamond Horseshoe. And we say that as fans with long memories of the revolving door of awful attempts at revitalizing Diamond Horseshoe back in the aughts. Whatever the outcome here, it’s gotta be better than the worst of those ill-fated efforts!
