Star Wars Land Previews at Hollywood Studios
Walt Disney World has opened booking for Annual Passholder previews of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. Previews will take place August 17-21, 2019. Passholders will be able to enjoy Batuu for 4 hours.
Unfortunately, these Annual Passholder previews filled up within only a few hours after opening, and the event dates are all now full. If you were able to register, you should have received an email with details and a confirmation. If you were not able to register, it’s now too late.
However, there’s some good news! If you were not eligible for these Annual Passholder previews or if you didn’t register in time, all hope is not lost. Soft openings are a very real possibility for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World…
There’s also no reason for Walt Disney World to have any ‘veil of secrecy’ around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge given that the exact same thing opened a couple months ago in California. This all bodes well for the prospects of Soft Openings for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World.
In that post, we have predictions for dates soft openings could occur. We arrived at these via process of elimination–ruling out days of the Cast Member previews, Annual Passholder previews, Club 33 previews, and pre-opening media event. This leaves a multi-day window of time during which soft openings could occur. (Assuming, of course, that other previews of which we’re unaware are not scheduled.)
What follows is directions for registering for the AP preview of Galaxy’s Edge. Obviously, none of this is applicable now…
The good news is that this Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge preview is not a lottery. Reservations can be made by any Walt Disney World Platinum, Platinum Plus, or Premier Annual Passholders. You don’t need the email–all you need is the link, and fortunately, we have that!
To register for the FREE Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Annual Passholder Previews at Walt Disney World, do the following, IN THIS ORDER:
- Open an incognito/private browser window
- Sign-in on DisneyWorld.com
Note that this link is being temperamental right now. You may have to log-out of My Disney Experience, log back in, etc., in order to get it to work. If you’re on the Chewbacca “the wait is almost over” page (pictured above), try again–that Chewy page works, but this method is faster!
What you’ll want to see is a Woody, “please wait while we complete your request” page (see above), which almost immediately redirects to the registration page and time slots (see below screenshot).
Presumably, Walt Disney World IT is still making tweaks to the registration system, so don’t be surprised if this advice is outdated by the time you read it. For the benefit of everyone, please post in the comments if you have success registering and whether you received an email. Additionally, if you’re having trouble registering, please read others’ comments before asking any questions.
Note that there are three different registration options available for the Annual Passholder previews of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
This means you’ll have to choose at registration whether you want to do Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop in addition to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Here’s the text on those other options from DisneyWorld.com’s Annual Passholder page:

I was able to register for 8/17! I didn’t even realize there were options, as I only had Option 1 showing as available for the day I selected. Does this mean we won’t be able to visit Oga’s Cantina, or just won’t be guaranteed a time slot? Very excited!
I did the same thing in my hurry. I hope it won’t keep us from entering the cantina.
Maybe it’s different for different days? Or maybe the others are sold out for your day? Unfortunately, I can’t go back and check now since I’m already registered.
By the time I saw my email- there were only three days left-no weekends, I had not seen anything from you because I’m not on a mailing list- I just have you book marked- I was able to get smugglers run- for my adult son and myself, we are both teachers in florida so we took the later-(one week into school and taking an afternoon off- -lol- but not the Cantina- I didn’t realize there was a choice because it wasn’t there-just like the early morning option wasn’t there – so I didn’t even check other dates- I wonder what the chances are that we can get into the Cantina? As for the unactivated passes- much to my excitement my son was populated (his pass is active) but my friends who come into town on a regular basis, their season passes are in the renewal period (expired July 22nd) and they did NOT populate.
Got it! I tried the email link I received first but got the Chewie screen. I tried your advice via private browsing on my phone and it went right through. Thanks for being so on top of things, as per usual!
Thanks so much. I haven’t gotten an email, but followed your directions and it worked like a charm. Got reservation for 3.
Never received an email but thanks to your email I GOT IN!!! Thank you!!
Not an AP holder and even if I was we will not arrive until 8/21/2019. So I guess I will keep my regular tickets and wait to see what happens as we approach opening day.
Link worked for us! It even tied nicely with our existing reservation so I didn’t have to add any days on. I found the link prior to getting the email and was stuck on Chewy for about 90 mins. However, the email did eventually come through at 10:01 this morning.
Registered for 1-5 on the 17th for smugglers run and cantina! Party of 3
I used the link and waited on the Chewey page. After about 30 minutes I was redirected to sign in, where I was able to complete registration.
Thank you for posting the link. I couldn’t get past the “Wait almost over” page with the email link but your link worked instantly.
You are amazing!!! I haven’t gotten the email from Disney but clicked through as soon as I saw your email update and got a reservation for 6. Thanks!!!!
Tom just a heads up that your email says previews are “not available to be booked” instead of “now available”. I figured it out but wanted to give u a heads up 😉
Yeah…several people have pointed this out. There’s nothing I can do about it now, aside from sending up a follow-up email (which would probably be unnecessary since it says “now” elsewhere in the email).
I found the link earlier today on another forum I’ve been frantically refreshing and was able to register at 10:30 AM (EDT) for the preview (with Savi’s) on Monday, 8/19, 5-9PM! When I registered I think that every time for every option on every date was still available, but I did notice that there were only three times available on 8/17 for some reason (I’m flying in that day and didn’t want to risk missing it because of a flight delay).
That said, while I have the confirmation email that I am registered for the event, I STILL haven’t received an email from Disney actually notifying me that the event is open for registration. That might be because they turned off all of my Passholder email communication subscriptions for some reason (I turned them on in April and they were off when I checked 2 days ago). Oh well, I’m going and that’s all that matters (to me, I realize nobody else cares if I am going! :o) ). SO EXCITED!
I just registered! And I was too quick & I guess I have no choice but to build a light sabre now LOL.
haha! Oh no!
Thanks so much! Got your newsletter 5 minutes before my AP email. We got in!
GOT IT!!!! Thank you!!!
I received an email at 10:03 am today and by 10:32 am I was registered for Wednesday 8/21 from 3-7 pm for Smuggler’s Run and Oga’s Cantina. I was on the Chewbacca page for a while, but it switched over to Woody as you said.
SO it wouldn’t let me reserve for 6 guests, only 5. Butttttttttttttt I GOT IT!!! WOOOOOOOOOO
I got in!
You are amazing and I got to sign up!!! Thank you thank you thank you!! I still haven’t gotten the email from Disney but I got your newsletter, yay!!!!
I received the email about 10 minutes after I registered.
Link worked and got into registration – never received an e-mail, though.
I received an email at about the same time you posted this article. I had issues using the link in the email. But once I followed your steps I was able to secure a reservation!
The link actually worked for me! We decided to take a quick trip down in August… too bad we will be leaving before the AP preview (I just clicked for kicks to see if it would work.)
