Disney World’s Glimmering Greenhouses Night Tour Returns: Christmas 2025 Dates & Details

Walt Disney World has announced the return of Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses during the 2025 EPCOT International Festival of the Holiday. This offers a rundown of this Christmas-time tour that takes guests behind the scenes in Living with the Land, plus why we love this seasonal attraction overlay.

Let’s start with basics. Living with the Land: Glimmering Greenhouses (previously Merry & Bright Nights) is the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays overlay of the iconic greenhouse tour. It began several years ago and has gotten bigger and better with each passing year, resulting in ‘spinoffs’ of sorts for the other festivals. As good as the others have gotten, the Christmas overlay is by far the best of the bunch.

Glimmering Greenhouses is a special, sparkling boat ride during which you can enjoy a peaceful cruise and view twinkling holiday light displays throughout the greenhouses. There are daytime decorations, and little vignettes with presents and such, but the greenhouses really shine at night when they’re illuminated with Christmas lights.

We absolutely love Living with the Land. It’s one of the Walt Disney World attractions we do the most. We also absolutely love Christmas lights. Put those two things together, and we are squarely the target audience for Living with the Land: Glimmering Greenhouses. No surprise that we’re such fans–it was basically bioengineered in a lab specifically to our tastes.

I could go on and on about this, gushing about the calming atmosphere, thoroughness, and understated simplicity of it all. Suffice to say, do not miss Living with the Land: Glimmering Greenhouses! It’s the best holiday ride overlay at Walt Disney World, which isn’t really saying much as the Florida parks don’t really do seasonal overlays, but it’s still fantastic.

We further sang its praises in Why Disney World is Wrong About Holiday Ride Overlays. That uses Glimmering Greenhouses as a ‘case study’ to advocate for more holiday overlays at WDW, such as Haunted Mansion Holiday at Magic Kingdom.

Judging by last year’s wait times for Glimmering Greenhouses and the popularity of this tour, other Walt Disney World guests agree. Living with the Land routinely had hour-long waits throughout the evening from Black Friday through December 30th–the longest lines we’ve ever seen for the attraction!

Here’s Walt Disney World’s description of the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses Tour:

Celebrate the beauty of nature with a walking tour of the Glimmering Greenhouses at The Land Pavilion. During this one-hour experience, you’ll:

  • Learn about crops that bring festive flavors to many of our holiday traditions.
  • Enjoy brilliant light displays.
  • Explore hydroponic greenhouses and discover sustainable growing techniques used to bring the Glimmering Greenhouses to life!

The Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour is offered at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM (this last tour time is an addition for Christmas 2025–it was only offered twice nightly last year).

The Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour will be offered from November 28 through December 30, 2025. Reservations for this tour will open beginning October 9, 2025. We expect demand to be high for this special backstage tour at EPCOT.

Last year, the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour cost was $45 per Person (tax not included). Given the popularity of the tour, our expectation is that it increases in price for Christmas 2025, even with the added time. Our guess is $49 or $55. We’ll update once official pricing and discount info is released by Walt Disney World.

The Behind the Seeds tour is still available during the day. Advance reservations are highly recommended, as availability is limited. Make reservations online or via the My Disney Experience app. Same-day reservations and walk-ins can be made on a limited basis and are subject to availability.

Before we dig into the commentary, here’s a quick plug for the regular Behind the Seeds tour, which we’d highly recommend before doing the Glimmering Greenhouses tour.

If you like the Living with the Land attraction at EPCOT, then you’ll love Behind the Seeds. This one-hour tour of the fish farm and 4 greenhouses that make up the Land Pavilion is perfect for anyone with an interest in gardening or natural sciences.

Behind the Seeds teaches guests about the latest plant-growing techniques, including hydroponics. It also showcases the hybrid striped bass, tilapia, catfish and freshwater shrimp in EPCOT’s fish farm. Along the way, you’ll behold gigantic fruits and vegetables and unusual crops from around the world.

During Behind the Seeds, you’ll take in the sights and smells of unusual crops from around the world while exploring the future of agriculture. Your knowledgeable guide will help you discover some of the latest plant-growing techniques in use at The Land, including hydroponics, and provide ideas you can try at home in your own garden.

We absolutely love Behind the Seeds at EPCOT, and it’s actually the first Walt Disney World tour we recommend. And keep in mind that I say this as someone who hates horticulture of the participatory and am not allowed near our garden due to an unfortunate lawnmower incident over a decade ago. So it’s not like I’m exactly the target audience for Behind the Seeds!

We wish we had a review of the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour. We were so excited about this tour when it was announced last year, and planned to do it ASAP as one of the highlights of our holiday season.

Then reality set in. Our daughter, Megatron, is not 3 years old and won’t be until next Christmas. Although we visited Walt Disney World as a family with the grandparents last year, meaning Sarah and I could have done the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour one night, we didn’t want to do it when push came to shove.

To each their own, but Disney time is family time for us–and that means all three of us. The only time we’ve ever done anything Disney as a couple in the parenting era is Palo just a couple weeks ago. And honestly, that was a bit bittersweet. So while we love the idea of doing the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour, we love experiencing the parks together as a trio even more. That makes this a Christmas 2026 thing for us as a family. Apologies for the lack of a review.

Nevertheless, I feel obligated to make an emphatic plug for the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour. Even though I can’t recommend it on the basis of firsthand experience, it’s my civic duty to share these details. (And even without firsthand experience, I’m 99% positive we would love this tour.)

Beyond that, “restoring upcharges” was one of the things we listed in Walt Disney World Could Fix the Guest Experience by Improving These Things. Obviously that’s an unconventional request given that the majority of guest complaints revolve around pricing.

Plenty of guests have complaints about paying more while getting less, and there are two ways to resolve that–only one of which is realistic. Other fans want upcharge opportunities that offer commensurate value for the extra money. These notions are not in conflict–it’s possible to be upset about paying more while getting less, while also having a willingness to splurge on something special that’s “worth it.”

There’s actually a lot in the Enchanting Extras Collection (and associated add-ons) that gives Walt Disney World a tremendous amount of repeatability for regulars. Things like certain behind the scenes or VIP tours, dining or dessert parties, early or late park access, and much more. The big one that comes to mind for us is the EPCOT festival seminars and experiences.

Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour is exactly what I had in mind when writing that post about Walt Disney World bringing back various extras. Getting to spend an hour walking around the Living with the Land greenhouses at night all decked out and aglow for the holiday season is precisely the kind of new-to-us experience that sounds special and keeps us coming back.

This tour is certainly not going to be for all Walt Disney World fans and it’s pricey at $45+ per person, but this is tailor-made for our interests. Even if we have to wait until Christmas 2026 to experience this tour, I already know it’ll be an awesome experience that’s 100% worth it to us, and one of the highlights of our holiday season. That might sound extreme, but again, we aren’t everyone–and this is the type of thing that ‘speaks to us’ and keeps us coming back to Walt Disney World.

  1. Was anyone able to book this today? I was up at midnight and it wasn’t available. By 6:45am everything seemed gone for my week.

    1. I spent a couple hours refreshing this morning. Disney booted me a few times and I had to clear my cookies and cache to get back in, but eventually I was able to book!

    2. I got up (3:45 Denver time) to book my dining ADRs, they opened right at 4:00 am. Took me ten minutes to find the greenhouse tour booking link and it wasn’t open. I kept refreshing and it finally opened at 4:28 am (6:28 Orlando time). Yes, I was able to get a tour, checked back a minute later after I booked and all were gone for my day December 8th, I consider myself very lucky, they were gone in a flash.

  2. Tom – are foreigners locked out of events like this? I was ready at 11AM UK time (6AM ET) to book, with two weeks in December to choose from, but the link never appeared. I tried the phone and an automated voice told me it couldn’t be done over the phone.

Finally after an hour I tried a VPN to find it worked on the US website, but our two weeks were already completely sold out! I’m gutted to miss it all because of some bizarre IT policy that locks out anyone not from the US. Even now, the UK version of the page has no booking option.

  3. Can this tour be done on scooters? You said there’s a lot of walking but nothing about accessibility. It sounds like a beautiful tour!

    1. The Disney website says “Guests may remain in their wheelchair, motorized scooter or ECV throughout the experience.”

    2. We did Behind the Seeds in August (LOVED IT btw!) and there was a gentleman on a scooter on our tour – so yes…it is accessible.

  4. Living with the Land is one of our family’s FAVORITE rides, a must-do (multiple times even) every visit. Me, my husband, and my now-20-year-old daughter all love it. We were lucky enough to visit a couple of years ago in the second week of January and all the Christmas lights were still up in the greenhouses! We rode 3 times in a row during a massive thunderstorm outside (with no wait); we keep saying we HAVE to do the Behind the Seeds but have not done it yet. It’s going on the list.

  5. i did the Glimmering Greenhouses last year and have done the Behind the Seeds tour in the past. They’re both really interesting and I would repeat again.

    1. Are they very different from each other besides the fact that Glimmering Greenhouses has the holiday lights and decorations?
